Peridynamic Modeling and Simulation of Fracture Process in Fiber-Reinforced Concrete

    Zhuang Chen1, Xihua Chu1,2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.127, No.1, pp. 241-272, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.015120

Abstract In this study, a peridynamic fiber-reinforced concrete model is developed based on the bond-based peridynamic model with rotation effect (BBPDR). The fibers are modelled by a semi-discrete method and distributed with random locations and angles in the concrete specimen, since the fiber content is low, and its scale is smaller than the concrete matrix. The interactions between fibers and concrete matrix are investigated by the improvement of the bond’s strength and stiffness. Also, the frictional effect between the fibers and the concrete matrix is considered, which is divided into static friction and slip friction. To validate the proposed model, several… More >

    Yuanxun Ou1,2, Shilin Yan1,2, Pin Wen1,2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.127, No.1, pp. 209-222, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.014828

Abstract Due to the unique deformation characteristics of auxetic materials (Poisson’s ratio ), they have better shock resistance and energy absorption properties than traditional materials. Inspired by the concept of variable cross-section design, a new auxetic re-entrant honeycomb structure is designed in this study. The detailed design method of re-entrant honeycomb with variable cross-section (VCRH) is provided, and five VCRH structures with the same relative density and different cross-section change rates are proposed. The in-plane impact resistance and energy absorption abilities of VCRH under constant velocity are investigated by ABAQUS/EXPLICIT. The results show that the introduction of variable cross-section design can… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.127, No.1, pp. 309-323, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.014802

Abstract As a representative technique in natural language processing (NLP), named entity recognition is used in many tasks, such as dialogue systems, machine translation and information extraction. In dialogue systems, there is a common case for named entity recognition, where a lot of entities are composed of numbers, and are segmented to be located in different places. For example, in multiple rounds of dialogue systems, a phone number is likely to be divided into several parts, because the phone number is usually long and is emphasized. In this paper, the entity consisting of numbers is named as number entity. The discontinuous… More >

    Jilong Bian1,*, Jinfeng Li2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.127, No.1, pp. 175-189, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.014635

Abstract The stereo matching method based on a space-aware network is proposed, which divides the network into three sections: Basic layer, scale layer, and decision layer. This division is beneficial to integrate residue network and dense network into the space-aware network model. The vertical splitting method for computing matching cost by using the space-aware network is proposed for solving the limitation of GPU RAM. Moreover, a hybrid loss is brought forward to boost the performance of the proposed deep network. In the proposed stereo matching method, the space-aware network is used to calculate the matching cost and then cross-based cost aggregation… More >

Abstract Alcoholism is an unhealthy lifestyle associated with alcohol dependence. Not only does drinking for a long time leads to poor mental health and loss of self-control, but alcohol seeps into the bloodstream and shortens the lifespan of the body’s internal organs. Alcoholics often think of alcohol as an everyday drink and see it as a way to reduce stress in their lives because they cannot see the damage in their bodies and they believe it does not affect their physical health. As their drinking increases, they become dependent on alcohol and it affects their daily lives. Therefore, it is important… More >

Piyatida Phanthuna, Yupaporn Areepong*, Saowanit Sukparungsee

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.127, No.1, pp. 23-41, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.013810

Abstract A modified exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) scheme is one of the quality control charts such that this control chart can quickly detect a small shift. The average run length (ARL) is frequently used for the performance evaluation on control charts. This paper proposes the explicit formula for evaluating the average run length on a two-sided modified exponentially weighted moving average chart under the observations of a first-order autoregressive process, referred to as AR(1) process, with an exponential white noise. The performance comparison of the explicit formula and the numerical integral technique is carried out using the absolute relative change… More >
