Hong Kong and Guangzhou, China – September 2026 – Dr. Dany Xiang, Head of the Biomedical Journals Department at Tech Science Press (TSP), visited universities, hospitals, and research institutions in Hong Kong and Guangzhou from 16 to 20 September, meeting with researchers, clinicians, and journal editors across urology, oncology, clinical research, and life sciences.

The visits focused on current research, scholarly publishing, peer review, and journal development. Dr. Xiang also introduced five biomedical journals published by Tech Science Press: BIOCELL, The Canadian Journal of Urology (CJU), European Cytokine Network (ECN), Oncologie, and Oncology Research (OR).

Meetings in Hong Kong

In Hong Kong, Dr. Xiang met Prof. Rong Na, Honorary Assistant Professor at The University of Hong Kong, and Dr. Sihua Tan of the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences at City University of Hong Kong.

Their discussions covered a range of topics related to scholarly publishing, including manuscript submission and peer review, author experience, journal development, and the dissemination and advancement of life sciences research.

Meetings in Guangzhou

In Guangzhou, Dr. Xiang met urology specialists from The First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University and the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University, including Prof. Xu Chen and Prof. Zheng Chen. Their conversations covered clinical research, publishing in urology, and the development of The Canadian Journal of Urology.

At Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, Dr. Xiang met Prof. Hailin Tang, Editor-in-Chief of Oncology Research, to discuss the journal’s scope, manuscript quality, editorial development, and future priorities.

Dr. Xiang also met researchers from the Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences, The Seventh Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, and Nanfang Hospital of Southern Medical University. Their research spans life sciences, bioinformatics, agricultural biotechnology, and gastroenterology.

At the Rice Research Institute of the Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Dr. Xiang met Associate Prof. Jiantao Tan and Dr. Kangli Sun to discuss life sciences research, manuscript publication, and researchers’ expectations of international journals.

The visits gave TSP’s biomedical journals team an opportunity to hear directly from researchers and clinicians about their experiences and expectations in scholarly publishing. TSP will continue to engage with editors, authors, reviewers, and research communities in the development of its biomedical journals.
