    Diversity Assessment of an Endemic Carpinus oblongifolia (Betulaceae) Using Specific-Locus Amplified Fragment Sequencing and Implications for Conservation

    Abstract Carpinus oblongifolia is an endemic species and the extant wild populations show a fragmentation distribution in the Baohua Mountain of Jiangsu Province in eastern China. Understanding of genetic diversity plays an important role in C. oblongifolia survival and sustainable development. The wild C. oblongifolia population was artificially divided into four subpopulations according to the microhabitats, and another two subpopulations were constructed by progeny seedlings cultivated with the mature seeds.     Abstract Machine learning can classify the image clarity of low-cost nailfold capillaroscopy (NC) and can be applied to the design verification for other medical devices. The method can be beneficial for systems that require a large number of image datasets. This investigation covers the design, integration, image sharpness estimation, and deconvolution sharpening of the NC.     Abstract In this study, we investigated warpage and corner lifting minimization for three-dimensional printed parts generated by macro-size fused deposition modeling (FDM). First, the reasons for warpage were theoretically elucidated. This approach revealed that the thermal deformation and differential volumetric shrinkage of the extruded molten plastic resulted in warpage of FDM parts. In addition, low adhesion between the deposited model and the heated or non-heated printing bed may intensify warpage further. Removing noise while preserving and sharpening image contours is a complicated task particularly for images with low contrast like radiography.
