Abstract Concomitant acute epidural hematoma (EDH) and subdural hematoma (SDH) is a rare finding, and its bilateral onset has not yet been reported in literature. We present the first report of a patient affected by post-traumatic concomitant EDH and SDH, with the contralateral, delayed onset of another, associated with meningioma previously treated with gamma knife. A 60-year-old female patient with a history of simple focal seizures with motor symptoms and well-controlled by drugs since childhood, arterial hypertension, and incidental diagnosis of multiple meningiomas was referred to our department after falling down the stairs. Initially, the patient was prescribed gamma knife treatment… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.132, No.3, pp. 823-843, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.020106

Abstract The combination of Precision Point Positioning (PPP) with Multi-Global Navigation Satellite System (MultiGNSS), called MGPPP, can improve the positioning precision and shorten the convergence time more effectively than the combination of PPP with only the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS). However, the Inter-System Bias (ISB) measurement of Multi-GNSS, including the time system offset, the coordinate system difference, and the inter-system hardware delay bias, must be considered for Multi-GNSS data fusion processing. The detected ISB can be well modeled and predicted by using a quadratic model (QM), an autoregressive integrated moving average model (ARIMA), as well as the sliding window strategy… More >

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.10, pp. 2303-2313, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2022.020899

Abstract In this study, phosphoenolpyruvate and erythrose-4-phosphate are efficiently supplied by collaborative design of Embden-Meyerhof-Parnas (EMP) pathway and pentose phosphate (PP) pathway in Escherichia coli, thus increasing the L-tryptophan production. Firstly, the effects of disrupting EMP pathway on L-tryptophan production were studied, and the results indicated that the strain with deletion of phosphofructokinase A (i.e., E. coli JW-5 ΔpfkA) produced 23.4 ± 2.1 g/L of L-tryptophan production. However, deletion of phosphofructokinase A and glucosephosphate isomerase is not conducive to glucose consumption and cell growth, especially deletion of glucosephosphate isomerase. Next, the carbon flux in PP pathway was enhanced by introduction of… More >

    Haojie Lian1,2, Leilei Chen2,3, Xiao Lin4, Wenchang Zhao5,*, Stephane P. A. Bordas6,7, Mingdong Zhou8,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.131, No.1, pp. 1-18, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.019705

Abstract This paper proposes a novel optimization framework in passive control techniques to reduce noise pollution. The geometries of the structures are represented by Catmull-Clark subdivision surfaces, which are able to build gap-free Computer-Aided Design models and meanwhile tackle the extraordinary points that are commonly encountered in geometric modelling. The acoustic fields are simulated using the isogeometric boundary element method, and a density-based topology optimization is conducted to optimize distribution of sound-absorbing materials adhered to structural surfaces. The approach enables one to perform acoustic optimization from Computer-Aided Design models directly without needing meshing and volume parameterization, thereby avoiding the geometric errors… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.3, pp. 4635-4655, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.017682

Abstract The outstanding thermal, optical, electrical and mechanical properties of molybdenum disolphide (MoS2) heterostructures make them exceptional candidates for an extensive area of applications. Nevertheless, despite considerable technological and academic interest, there is presently a few information regarding the mechanical properties of these novel two-dimensional (2D) materials in the presence of the defects. In this manuscript, we performed extensive molecular dynamics simulations on pre-cracked and pre-notched all-molybdenum disolphide (MoS2) heterostructure systems using ReaxFF force field. Therefore, we study the influence of several central-crack lengths and notch diameters on the mechanical response of 2H phase, 1T phase and composite 2H /1T MoS2More >
