Kapil Dev Choudhary, Shyam Sunder Yadav , Mani Sankar Dasgupta

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.16, pp. 1-10, 2021, DOI:10.5098/hmt.16.14

Abstract In the current work, we simulate the condensation of supercritical CO2 during its high speed flow inside two different converging-diverging nozzles. We use the homogeneous equilibrium method and the classical nucleation theory based non-equilibrium phase change model for this purpose. The simulation results indicate significant influence of the nozzle inlet condition, nozzle shape and the fluid thermophysical behaviour on the nonequilibrium conditions prevailing inside the nozzles. We observe very low, ∼0.15 K, supercooling for the flow of CO2 inside the Claudio Lettieri nozzle compared to the supercooling of ∼3 K observed for the Berana nozzle. Very high nucleation rate (∼… More >

STUDY ON THERMAL-HYDRAULIC PERFORMANCE OF THE PRINTED CIRCUIT HEAT EXCHANGER WITH AIRFOIL FINS FOR SUPERCRITICAL LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS

Yulin Tiana , Chengyi Longb, Linghong Tanga,*

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.19, pp. 1-11, 2022, DOI:10.5098/hmt.19.18

Abstract In this study, the thermal-hydraulic performance of eight different printed circuit heat exchanger (PCHE) configurations with supercritical liquefied natural gas as the working fluid are studied by a numerical method. Firstly, the thermal-hydraulic performance of the PCHE with different airfoil fins are investigated at different operating pressures, which indicate that the PCHE with airfoil fins has better thermal performance but worse hydraulic performance when it operates at higher pressure condition. Furthermore, the effects of different airfoil configurations on the thermal-hydraulic performance are analyzed in detail. The results show that asymmetric airfoils can provide better heat transfer performance than symmetrical airfoils.… More >

    Abeera Ilyas1,*, Saeed Mahfooz1, Zahid Mehmood2,3, Gauhar Ali4, Muhammad ElAffendi4

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.3, pp. 3815-3829, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.036316

Abstract Health monitoring systems are now required, particularly for essential patients, following the COVID-19 pandemic, which was followed by its variants and other epidemics of a similar nature. Effective procedures and strategies are required, though, to react promptly to the enormous volume of real-time data offered by monitoring equipment. Although fog-based designs for IoT health systems typically result in enhanced services, they also give rise to issues that need to be resolved. In this paper, we propose a two-way strategy to reduce network latency and use while increasing real-time data transmission of device gateways used for sensors by making educated judgments… More >

Reliable Failure Restoration with Bayesian Congestion Aware for Software Defined Networks

    Babangida Isyaku1,2,*, Kamalrulnizam Bin Abu Bakar1, Wamda Nagmeldin3, Abdelzahir Abdelmaboud4, Faisal Saeed5,6, Fuad A. Ghaleb1

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.3, pp. 3729-3748, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.034509

Abstract Software Defined Networks (SDN) introduced better network management by decoupling control and data plane. However, communication reliability is the desired property in computer networks. The frequency of communication link failure degrades network performance, and service disruptions are likely to occur. Emerging network applications, such as delay-sensitive applications, suffer packet loss with higher Round Trip Time (RTT). Several failure recovery schemes have been proposed to address link failure recovery issues in SDN. However, these schemes have various weaknesses, which may not always guarantee service availability. Communication paths differ in their roles; some paths are critical because of the higher frequency usage.… More >

    Sarkar Hasan Ahmed1, Adel Al-Zebari2, Rizgar R. Zebari3, Subhi R. M. Zeebaree4,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.2, pp. 3993-4008, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.037464

Abstract Remote sensing (RS) presents laser scanning measurements, aerial photos, and high-resolution satellite images, which are utilized for extracting a range of traffic-related and road-related features. RS has a weakness, such as traffic fluctuations on small time scales that could distort the accuracy of predicted road and traffic features. This article introduces an Optimal Deep Learning for Traffic Critical Prediction Model on High-Resolution Remote Sensing Images (ODLTCP-HRRSI) to resolve these issues. The presented ODLTCP-HRRSI technique majorly aims to forecast the critical traffic in smart cities. To attain this, the presented ODLTCP-HRRSI model performs two major processes. At the initial stage, the… More >

    Zibo Wang1,3, Chaobin Huo2, Yaofang Zhang1,3, Shengtao Cheng1,3, Yilu Chen1,3, Xiaojie Wei5, Chao Li4, Bailing Wang1,3,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.2, pp. 2957-2979, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.035694

Abstract With the growing discovery of exposed vulnerabilities in the Industrial Control Components (ICCs), identification of the exploitable ones is urgent for Industrial Control System (ICS) administrators to proactively forecast potential threats. However, it is not a trivial task due to the complexity of the multi-source heterogeneous data and the lack of automatic analysis methods. To address these challenges, we propose an exploitability reasoning method based on the ICC-Vulnerability Knowledge Graph (KG) in which relation paths contain abundant potential evidence to support the reasoning. The reasoning task in this work refers to determining whether a specific relation is valid between an… More >

Nonlinear Flow Properties of Newtonian Fluids through Rough Crossed Fractures

    Zhenguo Liu1,2, Shuchen Li1,3, Richeng Liu3,*, Changzhou Zheng2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.136, No.2, pp. 1427-1440, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.025414

Abstract The nonlinear flow properties of Newtonian fluids through crossed fractures are estimated by considering the influences of length, aperture, and surface roughness of fractures. A total of 252 computational runs are performed by creating 36 computational domains, in which the Navier-Stokes equations are solved. The results show that the nonlinear relationship between flow rate and hydraulic gradient follows Forchheimer’s law–based equation. When the hydraulic gradient is small (i.e., 10−6), the streamlines are parallel to the fracture walls, indicating a linear streamline distribution. When the hydraulic gradient is large (i.e., 100), the streamlines are disturbed by a certain number of eddies,… More >

Vitaliy Suvorov*, Vladimir Zaitsev, Nikolay Pilyugov, Olga Tereshenko, Michail Komissarov

    Congenital Heart Disease, Vol.18, No.1, pp. 57-65, 2023, DOI:10.32604/chd.2023.025522

Abstract Critical aortic valve stenosis in newborns is the cause of a severe clinical condition with the onset of symptoms during first hours after birth. We present a clinical case of a successful surgical correction of a critical aortic stenosis using a hybrid method applied in a newborn during the first day of life. The infant was diagnosed with a hypoplastic left heart complex with an intact atrial septum (aortic and mitral valves stenosis variant), that led to the cardiogenic shock and acute pulmonary edema. The procedure included bilateral banding of the pulmonary artery branches and atrioseptostomy with stenting of the… More > Graphic Abstract

Yashar Aryanfar1,*, Jorge Luis García Alcaraz2

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.2, pp. 263-275, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.022587

Abstract The usage of renewable energies, including geothermal energy, is expanding rapidly worldwide. The low efficiency of geothermal cycles has consistently highlighted the importance of recovering heat loss for these cycles. This paper proposes a combined power generation cycle (single flash geothermal cycle with trans-critical CO2 cycle) and simulates in the EES (Engineering Equation Solver) software. The results show that the design parameters of the proposed system are significantly improved compared to the BASIC single flash cycle. Then, the proposed approach is optimized using the genetic algorithm and the Nelder-Mead Simplex method. Separator pressure, steam turbine output pressure, and CO2 turbine… More > Graphic Abstract
