    BIOCELL, Vol.45, No.5, pp. 1355-1367, 2021, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2021.015817

Abstract Genetic and molecular heterogeneity, together with intrinsic and acquired resistance to therapy, represent the major obstacles to the successful treatment of different types of breast carcinoma. Increasing evidence demonstrates that SOX transcription factors in breast carcinomas could act both as oncogenes and tumor suppressors and have been associated with tumor stage and grade, poor prognosis, and therapy resistance. Both SOX2 and SOX18 overexpression has been correlated with poor prognosis in breast carcinomas, and these genes are recognized as potential antitumor targets. Our aim was to evaluate the effect of retinoic acid (RA), a well-known cyto-differentiating agent, on breast carcinoma cells… More >

TING LAN, SHENG QIN, XIAOJIN GONG, PING ZHENG, JIAXIN YAN, YANG LIU*

    BIOCELL, Vol.45, No.5, pp. 1313-1319, 2021, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2021.015923

Abstract Invasive stratified mucin-producing carcinoma (ISMC) is a recently described histologic variant of high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated endocervical adenocarcinoma, as the putative invasive counterpart of the stratified mucin-producing intraepithelial lesion (SMILE). ISMC can display variable architectural patterns and usually coexists with other more conventional types of HPV-associated carcinomas, which makes diagnosis and differential diagnosis of ISMC is difficult for pathologists. Moreover, the prognosis of ISMC is still controversial. We analyzed 6 ISMCs with detailed pathological and clinical information. Intraepithelial lesion, including 1 high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion and 1 SMILE, was found. Various architectures were observed (including nest, glandular, solid, trabecular, and… More >

    Oncologie, Vol.23, No.2, pp. 259-268, 2021, DOI:10.32604/Oncologie.2021.015503

Abstract Urothelial carcinoma of bladder (UCB) is a common urological malignancy in the world, but its progression mechanism remains unclear. MiR-612 was found as an anti-tumor factor in multiple types of cancer, while few studies have revealed its functions in UCB cells. Based on this, UCB cells such as HTB-9 and HTB-4, and normal urothelial of bladder cells such as SV-Huc1, were used as subjects in this study. Western blot, qRTPCR, CCK-8 assay and transwell assay were used to assess functions of miR-612 in UCB cells. The database, miRWalk, was used to search for potential targets of miR-612, and dual-luciferase reporter… More >

HBx Downregulates miR-422a Expression via Activation of FOXG1/Q1/E1 in HepG2 Cells

    Xiaofan Deng1,2, Yamei Yang2,3, Xianfeng Gan2,3, Gang Wu2,3,*

    Oncologie, Vol.23, No.2, pp. 251-258, 2021, DOI:10.32604/Oncologie.2021.016900

Abstract microRNA-422a (miR-422a) is downregulated in many hematopoietic tumors and solid tumors including hepatocellular carcinoma. We previously demonstrated that hepatitis B virus X protein (HBx) downregulated expression of miR-422a in HCC cell line HepG2 in vitro. However, we explore the mechanisms underlying this action. Forkhead box proteins (FOX) G1/Q1/E1 are known to negatively regulate miR-422a expression, and this prompted us to determine whether HBx suppresses miR-422a expression via activation of FOXG1/Q1/E1. The relationship between FOXG1/Q1/E1 and miR-422a in HepG2 cells stably expressing HBx was assessed with qRT-PCR. The correlation between HBx and FOXG1/Q1/E1 was determined with qRT-PCR and western blot in… More >

    Oncologie, Vol.23, No.2, pp. 219-228, 2021, DOI:10.32604/Oncologie.2021.016480

Abstract The elevation for lateral lymph node metastasis (LLNM) plays an important role in therapeutic decision-making for thyroid carcinoma. A reliable forecasting model for LLNM in patients with papillary thyroid micro-carcinoma (PTMC) is needed, using clinicopathological characteristics. A total of 576 PTMC patients with suspicious lateral cervical lymph node (II, III, IV or V region) metastasis and known clinicopathological variables were randomly collected at Shenzhen Second People’s Hospital. Cervical lymph node status of every patient was assessed by ultrasonography (US). The patients in this cohort study underwent thyroidectomy and lateral neck lymph node dissection. Univariate analysis and logistic regression analysis were… More >

Protocole d’IRM abrégée pour le diagnostic et le dépistage du cancer du sein
Abbreviated Breast MRI for Diagnostic and Screening of Breast Carcinoma

    G. Oldrini, P. Henrot, F. Marchal

    Oncologie, Vol.21, No.1, pp. 17-21, 2019, DOI:10.3166/onco-2019-0033

Abstract Breast cancer is the first female cancer in France and its early detection is essential. Breast MRI is an element of choice in its diagnosis but it has high direct and indirect costs because of its duration which slows down its wider use. Given its elements, the use of an abbreviated protocol develops to overcome these disadvantages. Early literature data suggests that this faster examination also allows for a shorter interpretation time. In addition, the sensitivity and specificity of the examination are not inferior to that of the complete protocol. This article explains the new concept and its interest, compares… More >

Fondamentaux de l’immunologie des Cancers Digestifs (Gastriques et Hépatocellulaires)

    Pierre-Guillaume Poureau1,2,*, Jean-Philippe Metges2

    Oncologie, Vol.23, No.1, pp. 47-59, 2021, DOI:10.32604/Oncologie.2021.15525

Abstract Immunotherapy for digestive cancers is booming and for the first time an immune checkpoint inhibitor has been granted marketing authorization for the treatment of digestive cancer. In order to better understand the mecanism of action of these treatments, their adverse events and the escape mecansim, it is necessary to know the fundamentals of cancer immunology. The innate and adaptive immune system allows the elimination of cancer cells by direct non-specific cytotoxicity (Natural Killer cells), by the development of an adaptive cell-mediated response (dendritic cells becoming antigen presenting cells, allowing the differentiation of lymphocytes naive in CD4 and CD8 T lymphocytes)… More >
