Abstract We here report the de novo transcriptome assembly and functional annotation of Eusirus cf. giganteus clade g3, providing the first database of expressed sequences from this giant Antarctic amphipod. RNA-sequencing, carried out on the whole body of a single juvenile individual likely undergoing molting, revealed the dominant expression of hemocyanins. The mRNAs encoding these oxygen-binding proteins cumulatively accounted for about 40% of the total transcriptional effort, highlighting the key biological importance of high hemocyanin production in this Antarctic amphipod species. We speculate that this observation may mirror a strategy previously described in Antarctic cephalopods, which compensates More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.30, No.3, pp. 889-898, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.019727 - 20 August 2021

Abstract In recent years, due to the popularization of deep learning technology, more and more attention has been paid to the security of deep neural networks. A wide variety of machine learning algorithms can attack neural networks and make its classification and judgement of target samples wrong. However, the previous attack algorithms are based on the calculation of the corresponding model to generate unique adversarial examples, and cannot extract attack features and generate corresponding samples in batches. In this paper, Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN) is used to learn the distribution of adversarial examples generated by FGSM More >

    Xiaoli Hao1,*, Xiaojuan Meng1, Yueqin Zhang1, Jindong Xue2, Jinyue Xia3

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.30, No.2, pp. 601-613, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.017963 - 11 August 2021

Abstract The belt conveyor is essential in coal mine underground transportation. The belt properties directly affect the safety of the conveyor. It is essential to monitor that the belt works well. Traditional non-contact detection methods are usually time-consuming, and they only identify a single instance of damage. In this paper, a new belt-tear detection method is developed, characterized by two time-scale update rules for a multi-class deep convolution generative adversarial network. To use this method, only a small amount of image data needs to be labeled, and batch normalization in the generator must be removed to… More >

    Bin Lin1, Jixin Chen2, Zhihong Zhang3, Yanlin Lai2, Xinlong Wu2, Lulu Tian4, Wangchi Cheng5,*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.30, No.2, pp. 641-649, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.016818 - 11 August 2021

Abstract Researches have shown that Deep neural networks (DNNs) are vulnerable to adversarial examples. In this paper, we propose a generative model to explore how to produce adversarial examples that can deceive multiple deep learning models simultaneously. Unlike most of popular adversarial attack algorithms, the one proposed in this paper is based on the Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN). It can quickly produce adversarial examples and perform black-box attacks on multi-model. To enhance the transferability of the samples generated by our approach, we use multiple neural networks in the training process. Experimental results on MNIST showed that More >

Abstract To address the difficulty of detecting low embedding rate and high-concealment CNV-QIM (complementary neighbor vertices-quantization index modulation) steganography in low bit-rate speech codec, the code-word correlation model based on a BiLSTM (bi-directional long short-term memory) neural network is built to obtain the correlation features of the LPC codewords in speech codec in this paper. Then, softmax is used to classify and effectively detect low embedding rate CNV-QIM steganography in VoIP streams. The experimental results show that for speech steganography of short samples with low embedding rate, the BiLSTM method in this paper has a superior More >

Abstract Obtaining clear images of underwater scenes with descriptive details is an arduous task. Conventional imaging techniques fail to provide clear cut features and attributes that ultimately result in object recognition errors. Consequently, a need for a system that produces clear images for underwater image study has been necessitated. To overcome problems in resolution and to make better use of the Super-Resolution (SR) method, this paper introduces a novel method that has been derived from the Alpha Generative Adversarial Network (AlphaGAN) model, named Alpha Super Resolution Generative Adversarial Network (AlphaSRGAN). The model put forth in this… More >

    Ang Li1,2, Peng Lei1,*, Changkun Chen1, Tong Xu1

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.5, pp. 1469-1482, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.015413 - 16 July 2021

Abstract A simplified model for SO2 generation during spontaneous combustion of coal gangue was put forward and validated using the measured data. Using the proposed model, the effects of initial temperature inside the gangue and fresh air supply on SO2 generation were discussed. The results showed that, higher initial temperature inside the gangue could accelerate the oxidation rate of FeS2 and increase the maximum concentration of SO2. If initial temperature inside the gangue increased by about 37%, the total SO2 generation increased by 166%. Fresh air supply had less significant effect on the oxidation rate of FeS2. However, the More >

Abstract Paraoxonase-1 (PON-1) is an enzyme that hydrolyzes organophosphate pesticides. The presence of polymorphisms in PON-1 (L55M and Q192R) decreases its enzyme activity and increases the risk of central nervous system (CNS) toxicity in occupationally exposed farmers, leading to chronic degenerative diseases and death. We studied 103 farmers in the region of Cienega Jalisco, Mexico, which were exposed mainly to organophosphate pesticides. We used serum and plasma samples to assay PON-1 activity and perform polymorphism analysis (L55M and Q192R) using qPCR and TaqMan probes, respectively. For both polymorphisms, there was high percentage of heterozygosity (55 LL… More >
