    Kahina Iggui1,2,*,†, Mustapha Kaci2, Nicolas Le Moigne1, Anne Bergeret1

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.6, No.3, pp. 288-298, 2018, DOI:10.7569/JRM.2017.634184

Abstract The effects of accelerated photooxidation on the molecular weight and thermal and mechanical properties of Cast PHBV and PHBV/Cloisite 30B (3 wt%) bionanocomposites are investigated herein. Through size exclusion chromatography (SEC) analysis, a significant decrease in both weight and number average molecular weights was observed for all irradiated samples over time, resulting from the chain scission mechanism. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) data indicated a decrease in degree of crystallinity and melting temperature after UV exposure, with the appearance of double melting peaks related to the changes in the crystal structure of PHBV. Thermal stability, tensile and thermo-mechanical properties were also… More >

    A. Ramírez-Jiménez1*, S. Hernández López1, E. Bucio2, E. Vigueras Santiago1

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.5, No.2, pp. 132-144, 2017, DOI:10.7569/JRM.2016.634138

Abstract Epoxidized linseed oil (ELO) was synthesized and functionalized with propargylamine (PA) or 3-ethynylaniline (EA) and the products were crosslinked to obtain the diacetylene-functionalized epoxidized linseed oil polymers which were used as matrices in the preparation of the composites with multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). Electrical resistance at percentages between 4 and 20 wt/wt% of filler was measured and the percolation threshold was calculated, obtaining 1.2 and 1.7% for the composites with EA and PA respectively. Low critical concentration evidenced a good dispersion of the MWCNTs without necessity of any modification. The final products were used in the sensing of acetone, chloroform… More >

Transforming Growth Factor-β1 Remodels the Cytoskeleton Organization of Mature Dendritic Cells via Smad2/3 Signaling Pathway

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.15, No.1, pp. 21-36, 2018, DOI:10.3970/mcb.2018.015.021

Abstract Dendritic cells (DCs) are the most potent professional antigen presenting cells as now known, which play critical roles in the initiation, programming and regulation of the immune response. Transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1), one of the major suppressive cytokines in tumor microenvironment, can deteriorate the biomechanical characteristics and motility of mature dendritic cells (mDCs),but the underlying molecular mechanisms are not well defined. In this study, the effects of TGF-β1 on the motilities and T cell priming capabilities of mDCs as well as the molecular regulatory mechanisms were investigated. The results showed that the cytoskeleton (F-actin) organizations of mDCs were abnormally remodeled… More >

Mesoscopic Biochemical Basis of Isogenetic Inheritance and Canalization: Stochasticity, Nonlinearity, and Emergent Landscape

    Hong Qian, Hao Ge

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.9, No.1, pp. 1-30, 2012, DOI:10.3970/mcb.2012.009.001

Abstract Biochemical reaction systems in mesoscopic volume, under sustained environmental chemical gradient(s), can have multiple stochastic attractors. Two distinct mechanisms are known for their origins: (a) Stochastic single-molecule events, such as gene expression, with slow gene on-off dynamics; and (b) nonlinear networks with feedbacks. These two mechanisms yield different volume dependence for the sojourn time of an attractor. As in the classic Arrhenius theory for temperature dependent transition rates, a landscape perspective provides a natural framework for the system's behavior. However, due to the nonequilibrium nature of the open chemical systems, the landscape, and the attractors it represents, are all themselves… More >

Stability of Molecular Adhesion Mediated by Confined Polymer Repellers and Ligand-Receptor Bonds

Jizeng Wang*, Jin Qian*, Huajian Gao∗,†

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.5, No.1, pp. 19-26, 2008, DOI:10.3970/mcb.2008.005.019

Abstract Experiments have shown that stable adhesion of a variety of animal cells on substrates prepared with precisely controlled ligand distribution can be formed only if the ligand spacing is below 58 nm. To explain this phenomenon, here we propose a confined polymer model to study the stability of molecular adhesion mediated by polymer repellers and ligand-receptor bonds. In this model, both repellers and binders are treated as wormlike chains confined in a nanoslit, and the stability of adhesion is considered as a competition between attractive interactions of ligand-receptor binding and repulsive forces due to the size mismatch between repellers and… More >

Forced Dissociation of Selectin-ligand Complexes Using Steered Molecular Dynamics Simulation

    Shouqin Lü1, Mian Long1,2

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.2, No.4, pp. 161-178, 2005, DOI:10.3970/mcb.2005.002.161

Abstract Selectin-ligand interactions are crucial to such biological processes as inflammatory cascade or tumor metastasis. How transient formation and dissociation of selectin-ligand bonds in blood flow are coupled to molecular conformation at atomic level, however, has not been well understood. In this study, steered molecular dynamics (SMD) simulations were used to elucidate the intramolecular and intermolecular conformational evolutions involved in forced dissociation of three selectin-ligand systems: the construct consisting of P-selectin lectin (Lec) and epidermal growth factor (EGF)-like domains (P-LE) interacting with synthesized sulfoglycopeptide or SGP-3, P-LE with sialyl Lewis X (sLeX), and E-LE with sLeX. SMD simulations were based on… More >

    Lina Shi1, Zichi Wang1, Zhenxing Qian1,*, Nannan Huang1, Pauline Puteaux2, Xinpeng Zhang1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.59, No.3, pp. 943-953, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.05768

Abstract Nowadays, emoji image is widely used in social networks. To achieve covert communication in emoji images, this paper proposes a distortion function for emoji images steganography. The profile of image content, the intra- and inter-frame correlation are taken into account in the proposed distortion function to fit the unique properties of emoji image. The three parts are combined together to measure the risks of detection due to the modification on the cover data. With the popular syndrome trellis coding (STC), the distortion of stego emoji image is minimized using the proposed distortion function. As a result, less detectable artifacts could… More >

    Zhonghao Li1, Laijin Meng1, Shutong Xu1, Zhaohong Li1,2,*, Yunqing Shi3, Yuanchang Liang1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.59, No.2, pp. 563-574, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.05565

Abstract Steganalysis is a technique used for detecting the existence of secret information embedded into cover media such as images and videos. Currently, with the higher speed of the Internet, videos have become a kind of main methods for transferring information. The latest video coding standard High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) shows better coding performance compared with the H.264/AVC standard published in the previous time. Therefore, since the HEVC was published, HEVC videos have been widely used as carriers of hidden information.
In this paper, a steganalysis algorithm is proposed to detect the latest HEVC video steganography method which is based… More >

    Zhiguo Qu1,*, Shengyao Wu2, Wenjie Liu1, Xiaojun Wang3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.59, No.2, pp. 607-624, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.02656

Abstract In the field of quantum communication, quantum steganography is an important branch of quantum information hiding. In a realistic quantum communication system, quantum noises are unavoidable and will seriously impact the safety and reliability of the quantum steganographic system. Therefore, it is very important to analyze the influence of noise on the quantum steganography protocol and how to reduce the effect of noise. This paper takes the quantum steganography protocol proposed in 2010 as an example to analyze the effects of noises on information qubits and secret message qubits in the four primary quantum noise environments. The results show that… More >

    Yuhan Kang1, Fenlin Liu1, Chunfang Yang1,*, Xiangyang Luo1, Tingting Zhang2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.59, No.1, pp. 315-329, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.05242

Abstract This study proposes a color image steganalysis algorithm that extracts high-dimensional rich model features from the residuals of channel differences. First, the advantages of features extracted from channel differences are analyzed, and it shown that features extracted in this manner should be able to detect color stego images more effectively. A steganalysis feature extraction method based on channel differences is then proposed, and used to improve two types of typical color image steganalysis features. The improved features are combined with existing color image steganalysis features, and the ensemble classifiers are trained to detect color stego images. The experimental results indicate… More >
