    PHYSICAL HEAT TRANSFER

    Hai-Dong Wanga , Zeng-Yuan Guoa,*

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.13, pp. 1-12, 2019, DOI:10.5098/hmt.13.20

Abstract The classical heat transfer theory is established on the empirical models of Fourier’s heat conduction law and Newton’s cooling law. Although the classical theory has been successfully used in a wide range of industrial engineering applications, it lacks deep understanding of the physical mechanisms for energy transport and analytical methodology based on solid mathematical and mechanical principles. The rapid development of modern science and technology challenges the traditional heat transfer theory in two aspects: (1) Fourier’s law of heat conduction is no longer valid under the ultra-fast laser heating or nanoscale conditions; (2) The optimization… More >

Champs et objets pour mieux représenter les phénomènes dans leur contexte géographique

Anne Ruas, Ha Pham, Laura Pinson

    Revue Internationale de Géomatique, Vol.29, No.2, pp. 185-205, 2019, DOI:10.3166/rig.2019.00081

More >

Yue Kui Jian1, Huan Ye Zhu1, Xing Lin Wu, Bo Li

    Oncology Research, Vol.27, No.2, pp. 211-218, 2019, DOI:10.3727/096504018X15208993118389

Abstract Osteosarcomas, especially those with metastatic or unresectable disease, have limited treatment options. The antitumor effects of pharmacologic inhibitors of angiogenesis in osteosarcomas are hampered in patients by the rapid development of tumor resistance, notably through increased invasiveness and accelerated metastasis. Here we demonstrated that thrombospondin 1 (TSP-1) is a potent inhibitor of the growth and metastasis of the osteosarcoma cell line MG-63. Moreover, we demonstrate that upregulation of TSP-1 facilitated expression of vasculostatin in MG-63 cells. In angiogenesis assays, overexpression of TSP-1 inhibited MG-63 cells and induced tube formation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells More >

CRISPR/Cas9-Mediated Gene Knockout of ARID1A Promotes Primary Progesterone Resistance by Downregulating Progesterone Receptor B in Endometrial Cancer Cells

Haizhen Wang*, Zhenghua Tang*, Ting Li*, Menglu Liu*, Yong Li, Baoling Xing*

    Oncology Research, Vol.27, No.9, pp. 1051-1060, 2019, DOI:10.3727/096504019X15561873320465

Abstract Medroxyprogesterone (MPA) is used for the conservative treatment of endometrial cancer. Unfortunately, progesterone resistance seriously affects its therapeutic effect. The purpose of the current study was to investigate the influence of deletion of AT-rich interactive domain 1A (ARID1A) in progesterone resistance in Ishikawa cells. Ablation of ARID1A was conducted through the CRISPR/Cas9 technology. Acquired progesterone-resistant Ishikawa (Ishikawa-PR) cells were generated by chronic exposure of Ishikawa cells to MPA. The sensitivity of the parental Ishikawa, Ishikawa-PR, and ARID1A-deficient cells to MPA and/or LY294002 was determined using the Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay and flow cytometry analysis.… More >

PPARb/d Agonist GW501516 Inhibits Tumorigenesis and Promotes Apoptosis of the Undifferentiated Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma C666-1 Cells by Regulating miR-206

Linglan Gu, Yi Shi, Weimin Xu, Yangyang Ji

    Oncology Research, Vol.27, No.8, pp. 923-933, 2019, DOI:10.3727/096504019X15518706875814

Abstract In previous investigations, we reported that peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor / (PPAR / ) activation by GW501516 inhibits proliferation and promotes apoptosis in the undifferentiated C666-1 nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) cells by modulating caspase-dependent apoptotic pathway. In the present study, the mechanism by which GW501516 induces apoptosis was explored from the perspective of microRNA (miRNA) expression. Among the assayed miRNAs that were involved in regulating the expression of antiapoptotic protein Bcl-2, miR-206 was increased significantly and specifically by GW501516 in C666-1 cells at both the in vitro level and at the in vivo xenograft samples. The induction… More >

Abstract The thorns of Gleditsia sinensis have been historically used in Chinese medicine and are considered one of the fundamental therapeutic herbs. Its anticancer effects are currently being explored. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common type of primary liver cancer and still requires the development of new drugs with higher efficiency. By using a rat HCC model implanted with cancerous Walker-256 cells, the therapeutic effects of G. sinensis extract (GSE) were assessed, as well as its regulatory effects on miRNAs. GSE significantly restored liver morphology and dramatically induced cell apoptosis in HCC rats. In addition, miR-21/181b/183 was More >

Abstract Second-generation irreversible epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI), afatinib, has been approved for treating EGFR mutant lung cancer patients, but the mechanism of acquired resistance to afatinib has not been well studied. In this study, we established afatinib acquired resistant cell lines. Gene array technology was used to screen changes in gene expression between afatinib-resistant lung cancer cells and parental cells. Our results showed that secreted phosphoprotein 1 (SPP1) was significantly increased in afatinib-resistant lung cancer cells. To study the effect of SPP1 on afatinib resistance, siSPP1 was used to knock down SSP1 More >
