    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.2, pp. 2461-2478, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.031614

Abstract Well organized datacentres with interconnected servers constitute the cloud computing infrastructure. User requests are submitted through an interface to these servers that provide service to them in an on-demand basis. The scientific applications that get executed at cloud by making use of the heterogeneous resources being allocated to them in a dynamic manner are grouped under NP hard problem category. Task scheduling in cloud poses numerous challenges impacting the cloud performance. If not handled properly, user satisfaction becomes questionable. More recently researchers had come up with meta-heuristic type of solutions for enriching the task scheduling activity in the cloud environment.… More >

    Guangjun Liang1,2, Jianfang Xin3,*, Linging Xia1, Xueli Ni1,4, Yi Cao5

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.2, pp. 2981-2998, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.028597

Abstract In this work, we consider the performance analysis of state dependent priority traffic and scheduling in device to device (D2D) heterogeneous networks. There are two priority transmission types of data in wireless communication, such as video or telephone, which always meet the requirements of high priority (HP) data transmission first. If there is a large amount of low priority (LP) data, there will be a large amount of LP data that cannot be sent. This situation will cause excessive delay of LP data and packet dropping probability. In order to solve this problem, the data transmission process of high priority… More >

Abstract Enabling high mobility applications in millimeter wave (mmWave) based systems opens up a slew of new possibilities, including vehicle communications in addition to wireless virtual/augmented reality. The narrow beam usage in addition to the millimeter waves sensitivity might block the coverage along with the reliability of the mobile links. In this research work, the improvement in the quality of experience faced by the user for multimedia-related applications over the millimeter-wave band is investigated. The high attenuation loss in high frequencies is compensated with a massive array structure named Multiple Input and Multiple Output (MIMO) which is utilized in a hyperdense… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.1, pp. 2133-2148, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.032215

Abstract Cloud computing has taken over the high-performance distributed computing area, and it currently provides on-demand services and resource polling over the web. As a result of constantly changing user service demand, the task scheduling problem has emerged as a critical analytical topic in cloud computing. The primary goal of scheduling tasks is to distribute tasks to available processors to construct the shortest possible schedule without breaching precedence restrictions. Assignments and schedules of tasks substantially influence system operation in a heterogeneous multiprocessor system. The diverse processes inside the heuristic-based task scheduling method will result in varying makespan in the heterogeneous computing… More >

Attack Behavior Extraction Based on Heterogeneous Cyberthreat Intelligence and Graph Convolutional Networks

    Binhui Tang1,3, Junfeng Wang2,*, Huanran Qiu3, Jian Yu2, Zhongkun Yu2, Shijia Liu2,4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.1, pp. 235-252, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.029135

Abstract The continuous improvement of the cyber threat intelligence sharing mechanism provides new ideas to deal with Advanced Persistent Threats (APT). Extracting attack behaviors, i.e., Tactics, Techniques, Procedures (TTP) from Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) can facilitate APT actors’ profiling for an immediate response. However, it is difficult for traditional manual methods to analyze attack behaviors from cyber threat intelligence due to its heterogeneous nature. Based on the Adversarial Tactics, Techniques and Common Knowledge (ATT&CK) of threat behavior description, this paper proposes a threat behavioral knowledge extraction framework that integrates Heterogeneous Text Network (HTN) and Graph Convolutional Network (GCN) to solve this… More >

Nonlinear Electrical Impedance Tomography Method Using a Complete Electrode Model for the Characterization of Heterogeneous Domains

Jeongwoo Park, Bong-Gu Jung, Jun Won Kang*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.134, No.3, pp. 1707-1735, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.020926

Abstract This paper presents an electrical impedance tomography (EIT) method using a partial-differential-equation-constrained optimization approach. The forward problem in the inversion framework is described by a complete electrode model (CEM), which seeks the electric potential within the domain and at surface electrodes considering the contact impedance between them. The finite element solution of the electric potential has been validated using a commercial code. The inverse medium problem for reconstructing the unknown electrical conductivity profile is formulated as an optimization problem constrained by the CEM. The method seeks the optimal solution of the domain’s electrical conductivity to minimize a Lagrangian functional consisting… More >
