AttEF: Convolutional LSTM Encoder-Forecaster with Attention Module for Precipitation Nowcasting

    Wei Fang1,2,*, Lin Pang1, Weinan Yi1, Victor S. Sheng3

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.30, No.2, pp. 453-466, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.016589

Abstract Precipitation nowcasting has become an essential technology underlying various public services ranging from weather advisories to citywide rainfall alerts. The main challenge facing many algorithms is the high non-linearity and temporal-spatial complexity of the radar image. Convolutional Long Short-Term Memory (ConvLSTM) is appropriate for modeling spatiotemporal variations as it integrates the convolution operator into recurrent state transition functions. However, the technical characteristic of encoding the input sequence into a fixed-size vector cannot guarantee that ConvLSTM maintains adequate sequence representations in the information flow, which affects the performance of the task. In this paper, we propose Attention ConvLSTM Encoder-Forecaster(AttEF) which allows… More >

A Hybrid Deep Learning Intrusion Detection Model for Fog Computing Environment

    K. Kalaivani*, M. Chinnadurai

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.30, No.1, pp. 1-15, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.017515

Abstract Fog computing extends the concept of cloud computing by providing the services of computing, storage, and networking connectivity at the edge between data centers in cloud computing environments and end devices. Having the intelligence at the edge enables faster real-time decision-making and reduces the amount of data forwarded to the cloud. When enhanced by fog computing, the Internet of Things (IoT) brings low latency and improves real time and quality of service (QoS) in IoT applications of augmented reality, smart grids, smart vehicles, and healthcare. However, both cloud and fog computing environments are vulnerable to several kinds of attacks that… More >

    Jianming Zhao1,2,3,4, Peng Zeng1,2,3,4,*, Chunyu Chen1,2,3,4, Zhiwei Dong5, Jongho Han6

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.30, No.1, pp. 337-350, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.016966

Abstract As networked control systems continue to be widely used in large-scale industrial productions, industrial cyber-attacks have become an inevitable problem that can cause serious damage to critical infrastructures. In practice, industrial intrusion detection has been widely acknowledged to detect abnormal communication behaviors. However, unlike traditional IT systems, networked control systems have their own communication characteristics due to specific industrial communication protocols. Thus, simple cyber-attack modeling is inadequate and impractical for high-efficiency intrusion detection because the characteristics of network control systems are less considered. Based on the status information and transmission connection in industrial communication data payloads, which can properly express… More >

Wanxia Yang*, Miaoqi Li, Beibei Zhou, Yan Liu, Kenan Liu, Zhiyu Hu

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.128, No.2, pp. 623-637, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.015629

Abstract To address the difficulty of detecting low embedding rate and high-concealment CNV-QIM (complementary neighbor vertices-quantization index modulation) steganography in low bit-rate speech codec, the code-word correlation model based on a BiLSTM (bi-directional long short-term memory) neural network is built to obtain the correlation features of the LPC codewords in speech codec in this paper. Then, softmax is used to classify and effectively detect low embedding rate CNV-QIM steganography in VoIP streams. The experimental results show that for speech steganography of short samples with low embedding rate, the BiLSTM method in this paper has a superior detection accuracy than state-of-the-art methods… More >

Keshav Thapa, Zubaer Md. Abdhulla AI, Yang Sung-Hyun*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.2, pp. 1653-1670, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.015660

Abstract In this era, deep learning methods offer a broad spectrum of efficient and original algorithms to recognize or predict an output when given a sequence of inputs. In current trends, deep learning methods using recent long short-term memory (LSTM) algorithms try to provide superior performance, but they still have limited effectiveness when detecting sequences of complex human activity. In this work, we adapted the LSTM algorithm into a synchronous algorithm (sync-LSTM), enabling the model to take multiple parallel input sequences to produce multiple parallel synchronized output sequences. The proposed method is implemented for simultaneous human activity recognition (HAR) using heterogeneous… More >

    Short-term Wind Speed Prediction with a Two-layer Attention-based LSTM

    Jingcheng Qian1, Mingfang Zhu1, Yingnan Zhao2,*, Xiangjian He3

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.39, No.2, pp. 197-209, 2021, DOI:10.32604/csse.2021.016911

Abstract Wind speed prediction is of great importance because it affects the efficiency and stability of power systems with a high proportion of wind power. Temporal-spatial wind speed features contain rich information; however, their use to predict wind speed remains one of the most challenging and less studied areas. This paper investigates the problem of predicting wind speeds for multiple sites using temporal and spatial features and proposes a novel two-layer attention-based long short-term memory (LSTM), termed 2Attn-LSTM, a unified framework of encoder and decoder mechanisms to handle temporal-spatial wind speed data. To eliminate the unevenness of the original wind speed,… More >

    Tongming Qu1, Shaocheng Di2, Y. T. Feng1,3,*, Min Wang4, Tingting Zhao3, Mengqi Wang1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.128, No.1, pp. 129-144, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.016172

Abstract This study presents an AI-based constitutive modelling framework wherein the prediction model directly learns from triaxial testing data by combining discrete element modelling (DEM) and deep learning. A constitutive learning strategy is proposed based on the generally accepted frame-indifference assumption in constructing material constitutive models. The low-dimensional principal stress-strain sequence pairs, measured from discrete element modelling of triaxial testing, are used to train recurrent neural networks, and then the predicted principal stress sequence is augmented to other high-dimensional or general stress tensor via coordinate transformation. Through detailed hyperparameter investigations, it is found that long short-term memory (LSTM) and gated recurrent… More >

A Prediction Method of Trend-Type Capacity Index Based on Recurrent Neural Network

    Wenxiao Wang1,*, Xiaoyu Li1,*, Yin Ding1, Feizhou Wu2, Shan Yang3

    Journal of Quantum Computing, Vol.3, No.1, pp. 25-33, 2021, DOI:10.32604/jqc.2021.016346

Abstract Due to the increase in the types of business and equipment in telecommunications companies, the performance index data collected in the operation and maintenance process varies greatly. The diversity of index data makes it very difficult to perform high-precision capacity prediction. In order to improve the forecasting efficiency of related indexes, this paper designs a classification method of capacity index data, which divides the capacity index data into trend type, periodic type and irregular type. Then for the prediction of trend data, it proposes a capacity index prediction model based on Recurrent Neural Network (RNN), denoted as RNN-LSTM-LSTM. This model… More >
