    N. Vedavathia , G. Dharmaiahb,* , K.S. Balamuruganc, K. Ramakrishnad

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.12, pp. 1-9, 2019, DOI:10.5098/hmt.12.10

Abstract The effect of chemical reaction on MHD free convection heat transfer flow of a nanofluid bounded a semi-infinite flat surface in a rotating frame of reference is theoretically investigated. The velocity along the plate (slip velocity) is assumed to oscillate on time with constant frequency. The analytical solutions of different water based nanofluids containing TiO2, Al2O3, Ag, Cu and CuO of the boundary layers are assumed, to keep the problem as realistic as possible. The dimensionless governing equations for this investigation are solved analytically by using the small perturbation Technique. The effects of various physical parameters on velocity, temperature and… More >

    V.S. Sampath Kumar, N.P. Pai , B. Devaki

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.20, pp. 1-13, 2023, DOI:10.5098/hmt.20.30

Abstract In the present study, we consider Casson fluid flow between two porous plates with permeability criteria in the presence of heat transfer and magnetic effect. A proper set of similarity transformations simplify the Navier-Stokes equations to non-linear ODEs with boundary conditions. The homotopy perturbation method is an efficient and stable method which is used to get solutions. Further, the results obtained are compared with the solution computed through an effective and efficient finite difference approach. The purpose of this analysis is to study the four different cases arise viz: suction, injection, mixed suction and mixed injection in this problem, along… More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.13, pp. 1-8, 2019, DOI:10.5098/hmt.13.19

Abstract In some recent studies, it has been suggested that non–Newtonian fluid flow can be modeled by a spatially non–local velocity, whose dynamics are described by a fractional derivative. In this study, we use the space fractional constitutive relation to model heat and mass transfer in a nanofluid. We present a numerically accurate algorithm for approximating solutions of the system of fractional ordinary differential equations describing the nanofluid flow. We present numerically stable differentiation matrices for both integer and fractional order derivatives defined by the one–sided Caputo derivative. The differentiation matrices are based on the series expansion of the unknown functions… More >

EFFECTS OF NON-UNIFORM SLOT SUCTION/INJECTION AND CHEMICAL REACTION ON MIXED CONVECTIVE MHD FLOW ALONG A VERTICAL WEDGE EMBEDDED IN A POROUS MEDIUM

    M. Ganapathiraoa,∗ , Ali J. Chamkhab, N. Srinivasa Raoc

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.13, pp. 1-13, 2019, DOI:10.5098/hmt.13.15

Abstract In this investigation, our objective is to study the effect of non-uniform slot suction or injection into a steady mixed convective MHD boundary layer flow over a vertical wedge embedded in a porous medium in the presence of chemical reaction. The wall of the wedge is embedded in a uniform porous medium in order to allow possible fluid wall suction or injection. The surface of the wedge is maintained at a variable wall temperature and concentration. The fluid is assumed to be viscous, incompressible and electrically conducting; and the magnetic field is applied transversally in the direction of the flow.… More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.13, pp. 1-8, 2019, DOI:10.5098/hmt.13.14

Abstract The heat and mass transfer characteristics of the influence of uniform blowing/suction and MHD (magnetohydrodynamic) on the free convection of non-Newtonian fluids over a vertical plate in porous media with internal heat generation and Soret/Dufour effects are numerically analyzed. The surface of the vertical plate has a uniform wall temperature and uniform wall concentration (UWT/UWC). The numerical modeling of this problem attracts considerable attention, owing to its practical applications in biological sciences, electronic cooling, advanced nuclear systems, etc. The transformed governing equations are solved by Keller box method. Comparisons showed excellent agreement with the numerical data in previous works. Numerical… More >

MHD FLOW IN A CIRCULAR HORIZONTAL PIPE UNDER HEAT SOURCE/SINK WITH SUCTION/INJECTION ON WALL

    G. Nagarajua,∗ , Mahesh Garvandhab, J.V. Ramana Murthyc

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.13, pp. 1-8, 2019, DOI:10.5098/hmt.13.6

Abstract This paper analyzes a hypothesis of the 2−dimensional thermal transport behavior of Newtonian axisymmetric, viscous heating flow in a horizontal pipe. The flow is subjected to an externally applied uniform suction across the pipe wall in the polar direction, a constant magnetic field perpendicular to the wall and a uniform heat source/sink on the surface of the cylinder. The thermal boundary condition is imposed as a uniform heat flux. The Velocity fields are expressed in terms of stream function and the solution is obtained using the homotopy analysis method (HAM). Graphs are designed to analyze the significant effect on temperature… More >

    Stanford Shateyia,∗, Hillary Muzarab

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.14, pp. 1-10, 2020, DOI:10.5098/hmt.14.18

Abstract A theoretical analysis has been carried out to investigate the influence of unsteadiness on the laminar two-phase magnetohydrodynamic nanofluid flow filled with porous medium under the combined effects of Brownian motion and thermophoresis. Thermal variable conductivity, thermal radiation and viscous dissipation effects are also considered in this numerical study. The highly nonlinear partial differential equations are transformed into a set of coupled nonlinear ordinary differential equations through suitable similarity transformations. The resultant ordinary differential equations are then numerically solved using the spectral quasilinearization method. The effects of the pertinent physical parameters over the fluid velocity, temperature, concentration, skin friction, Nusselt… More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.14, pp. 1-7, 2020, DOI:10.5098/hmt.14.15

Abstract This study aims at considering the properties of heat transfer and magneto-hydrodynamics (MHD) Casson nanofluid at the existence of free convection boundary layer flow with Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) suspended in human blood/water as based fluid on a stretching sheet. Two types of CNTs nanoparticles, single walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) and multi walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), are taken into account. The governing partial differential equations are transformed to partial differential equations using similar transformation, then solved numerically by an implicit finite difference scheme known as Keller-box method (KBM). The results for physical quantities, the local skin friction, and local Nusselt number,… More >

Kolli Vijayaa,* , G. Venkata Ramana Reddya

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.14, pp. 1-8, 2020, DOI:10.5098/hmt.14.12

Abstract Present investigation aims at analyzing the properties of heat and transport phenomena of thermal energy and species mass in a non-Darcy Casson fluid flow induced by a erected porous elongated surface considering the effect of non-linear radioactive heat, thermophorosis, first order chemical reaction, Newtonian heating, thermo diffusion, permeability and slip conditions. Influence of critical parameters are widely studied. By inducing the variables of similarity the basic boundary layer equations are transmuted into dimensionless equations and are resolved arithmetically using Runge – Kutta – Fehlberg shooting techniques method. The dominance of critical parameters against velocity, temperature, and concentration are explicated through… More >
