    Abstract Acquired endocrine resistance remains one of the main obstacles in the treatment of estrogen receptor (ER) positive, HER2 negative advanced breast cancer. Recently, activating ESR1 gene mutations affecting the ligand-binding domain have been identified as a key mechanism in aromatase inhibitor (AI) resistance. These mutations can be detected on histological samples or circulating tumour DNA, using PCRbased assays or next-generation sequencing. They induce a constitutive activation of ER, leading to acquired resistance to AI; tamoxifen, fulvestrant and targeted therapies against mTOR or CDK4/6 retain their efficacy.     Preliminary Optimization and Kinetics of SnCl2-HCl Catalyzed Hydrothermal Conversion of Microcrystalline Cellulose to Levulinic Acid

    Abstract Levulinic acid (LA) is a platform biorefinery chemical from biomass which can be converted to green solvents, plasticizers, polymer precursors, bio-based cleaning agents, fuels and fuel additives. This study assessed the potential of SnCl2-based mixed acid systems as catalyst in the hydrothermal conversion of microcrystalline cellulose to levulinic acid. Maximum LA yield of 36.2 mol% was achieved using 0.2 M SnCl2 concentration at test conditions of 3 h, 180°C and 1% w/v cellulose loading.     Abstract Agricultural waste straw is the renewable resource with the highest annual yield in the world. In value-added applications of agricultural waste, dicarboxyl cellulose nanocrystals (DCCs) are prepared from rice, wheat, and corn straw by sequential periodate-chlorite oxidation.
