    Chalcogenide Letters, Vol.22, No.11, pp. 951-957, 2025, DOI:10.15251/CL.2025.2211.951

Abstract This paper investigates the possibility of growing solid solutions of the composition (Ge2)1−x−y(GaAs1−δBiδ)x(ZnSe)y on silicon substrates using a germanium (Ge) buffer layer. The optimal conditions for obtaining a structurally high-quality epitaxial layer have been determined. In the study, the solid solution was obtained by liquid-phase epitaxy from a bismuth-containing melt solution. Epitaxial growth was carried out in a palladiumpurified hydrogen atmosphere at a cooling rate of 1 ÷ 1.5°C/min in the temperature range 750 ÷ 650°C. Experimental data showed that the growth of the epitaxial film significantly depends on the size of the gap between the… More >

Abstract In Saharan climates, greenhouses face extreme diurnal temperature fluctuations that generate thermal stress, reduce crop productivity, and hinder sustainable agricultural practices. Passive thermal storage using Phase Change Materials (PCM) is a promising solution to stabilize microclimatic conditions. This study aims to evaluate experimentally and numerically the effectiveness of PCM integration for moderating greenhouse temperature fluctuations under Saharan climatic conditions. Two identical greenhouse prototypes were constructed in Ghardaïa, Algeria: a reference greenhouse and a PCM-integrated greenhouse using calcium chloride hexahydrate (CaCl2·6H2O). Thermal performance was assessed during a five-day experimental period (7–11 May 2025) under severe ambient conditions.… More > Graphic Abstract

    Lei Han1,*, Wanyu Ye1, Chunfang Liu2, Shihua Huang1, Chun Chen3, Luxin Zhan3, Siyuan Liang3

    Energy Engineering, Vol.122, No.12, pp. 4947-4969, 2025, DOI:10.32604/ee.2025.069040 - 27 November 2025

Abstract In contemporary medium-voltage distribution networks heavily penetrated by distributed energy resources (DERs), the harmonic components injected by power-electronic interfacing converters, together with the inherently intermittent output of renewable generation, distort the zero-sequence current and continuously reshape its frequency spectrum. As a result, single-line-to-ground (SLG) faults exhibit a pronounced, strongly non-stationary behaviour that varies with operating point, load mix and DER dispatch. Under such circumstances the performance of traditional rule-based algorithms—or methods that rely solely on steady-state frequency-domain indicators—degrades sharply, and they no longer satisfy the accuracy and universality required by practical protection systems. Jian Xia1,2, Xianzhong Hu1, Yan Li1, Wei Zhang3,*

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.19, No.6, pp. 1489-1506, 2025, DOI:10.32604/sdhm.2025.065997 - 17 November 2025

Abstract Incorporating microencapsulated phase change materials (MPCM) into mortar enhances building thermal energy storage for energy savings but severely degrades compressive strength by replacing sand and creating pores. This study innovatively addresses this critical limitation by introducing nano-silicon (NS) as a modifier to fill pores and promote hydration in MPCM mortar. Twenty-five mixes with varying NS content from 0 to 4 weight percent and different MPCM contents were comprehensively tested for flowability, compressive strength, thermal conductivity, thermal energy storage via Differential Scanning Calorimetry, and microstructure via Scanning Electron Microscopy. Key quantitative results showed MPCM reduced mortar… More >

Abstract The phase separation of confined polymeric mixtures plays a critical role in the design of advanced materials and nanoscale devices. Over the past decades, extensive studies have highlighted the interplay of wetting dynamics, hydrodynamics, and interfacial forces in governing phase separation under confinement. In this work [1], we employ molecular dynamics simulations to investigate the dynamics of a binary mixture confined by van der Waals (vdW) walls, revealing a novel phenomenon termed Perpendicular Separation of Two Phases (PSTP). In the initial stage, water molecules residing in the central region rapidly diffuse and condense symmetrically along… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.145, No.1, pp. 153-187, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2025.070252 - 30 October 2025

Abstract Viscoelastic solids, such as composite propellants, exhibit significant time and rate dependencies, and their fracture processes display high levels of nonlinearity. However, the correlation between crack propagation and viscoelastic energy dissipation in these materials remains unclear. Therefore, accurately modeling and understanding of their fracture behavior is crucial for relevant engineering applications. This study proposes a novel viscoelastic phase-field model. In the numerical implementation, the adopted adaptive time-stepping iterative strategy effectively accelerates the coupling iteration efficiency between the phase-field and the displacement field. Moreover, all unknown parameters in the model, including the form of the phase-field More >
