An Energy-Efficient Wireless Power Transmission-Based Forest Fire Detection System

Arwa A. Mashat, Niayesh Gharaei*, Aliaa M. Alabdali

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.72, No.1, pp. 441-459, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.024131 - 24 February 2022

Abstract Compared with the traditional techniques of forest fires detection, wireless sensor network (WSN) is a very promising green technology in detecting efficiently the wildfires. However, the power constraint of sensor nodes is one of the main design limitations of WSNs, which leads to limited operation time of nodes and late fire detection. In the past years, wireless power transfer (WPT) technology has been known as a proper solution to prolong the operation time of sensor nodes. In WPT-based mechanisms, wireless mobile chargers (WMC) are utilized to recharge the batteries of sensor nodes wirelessly. Likewise, the… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.72, No.1, pp. 1309-1321, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.023934 - 24 February 2022

Abstract Considerable research has considered the design of low-power and high-speed devices. Designing integrated circuits with low-power consumption is an important issue due to the rapid growth of high-speed devices. Embedded static random-access memory (SRAM) units are necessary components in fast mobile computing. Traditional SRAM cells are more energy-consuming and with lower performances. The major constraints in SRAM cells are their reliability and low power. The objectives of the proposed method are to provide a high read stability, low energy consumption, and better writing abilities. A transmission gate-based multi-threshold single-ended Schmitt trigger (ST) 9T SRAM cell… More >

Invariant of Enhanced AES Algorithm Implementations Against Power Analysis Attacks

Nadia Mustaqim Ansari1,*, Rashid Hussain2, Sheeraz Arif3, Syed Sajjad Hussain4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.72, No.1, pp. 1861-1875, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.023516 - 24 February 2022

Abstract The security of Internet of Things (IoT) is a challenging task for researchers due to plethora of IoT networks. Side Channel Attacks (SCA) are one of the major concerns. The prime objective of SCA is to acquire the information by observing the power consumption, electromagnetic (EM) field, timing analysis, and acoustics of the device. Later, the attackers perform statistical functions to recover the key. Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm has proved to be a good security solution for constrained IoT devices. This paper implements a simulation model which is used to modify the AES algorithm… More >

Smart Anti-Pinch Window Simulation Using H-/H Criterion and MOPSO

    Maedeh Mohammadi Azni1, Mohammad Ali Sadrnia1, Shahab S. Band2,*, Zulkefli Bin Mansor3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.72, No.1, pp. 215-226, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.023030 - 24 February 2022

Abstract Automobile power windows are mechanisms that can be opened and shut with the press of a button. Although these windows can comfort the effort of occupancy to move the window, failure to recognize the person's body part at the right time will result in damage and in some cases, loss of that part. An anti-pinch mechanism is an excellent choice to solve this problem, which detects the obstacle in the glass path immediately and moves it down. In this paper, an optimal solution is presented for fault detection of the anti-pinch window system. The anti-pinch… More >

    Ibrahim M. Mehedi1,2,*, Maher H. AL-Sereihy2, Asmaa Ubaid Al-Saggaf2, Ubaid M. Al-Saggaf1,2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.72, No.1, pp. 651-662, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.022013 - 24 February 2022

Abstract Tracking load changes in a pressurized water reactor (PWR) with the help of an efficient core power control scheme in a nuclear power station is very important. The reason is that it is challenging to maintain a stable core power according to the reference value within an acceptable tolerance for the safety of PWR. To overcome the uncertainties, a non-integer-based fractional order control method is demonstrated to control the core power of PWR. The available dynamic model of the reactor core is used in this analysis. Core power is controlled using a modified state feedback More >

Prediction of the Behavior of a Power System Using Root Cause Failure Analysis

Seyed Mohammad Seyed Hosseini*, Kamran Shahanaghi, Safar Shasfand

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.3, pp. 815-833, 2022, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.019626 - 22 February 2022

    Abstract

The thermo-economic performance of a gas turbine is simulated using a fish bone technique to characterize the major equipment failure causes. Moreover a fault tree analysis and a Pareto technique are implemented to identify the related failure modes, and the percentage and frequency of failures, respectively. A pump 101 and drier 301 belonging to the Tabriz Petrochemical Company are considered for such analysis, which is complemented with a regression method to determine a behavioral model of this equipment over a twenty-year period. Research findings indicate that 81% of major failure factors in production equipment are related

Optimization of a High-pressure Water-Powder Mixing Prototype for Offshore Platforms

    Shu Zheng1,*, Yang Yaln2, Shuyu Liu3, Mingxuan Xia1,2, Shaojie Li1,2

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.3, pp. 537-548, 2022, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.018500 - 22 February 2022

Abstract A new device is designed to promote the mixing of high-pressure water jets and powders in typical industrial applications. The water and powder mixing devices traditionally used on offshore platforms are detrimentally affected by the geometrical configuration of the water nozzle and the powder spraying pipe, which are parallel, resulting in small intersecting volumes of liquid and powder. By allowing the related jets to intersect, in the present work the optimal horizontal distance, vertical distance and intersection angle are determined through a parametric investigation. It is also shown that such values change if the number More >

Abstract A genetic algorithm is proposed to optimize the yaw control system used for the stable and efficient operation of turbines in wind power plants. In particular, the factors that produce yaw static deviation are analyzed. Then, the sought optimization method for the yaw static deviation of the wind turbine is implemented by using a lidar wind meter in the engine room in order to solve the low accuracy problem caused by yaw static deviation. It is shown that fuzzy control can overcome problematic factors such as the randomness of wind direction and track the change More >
