Abstract In order to improve the comprehensive utilization rate of high fines sand (HFS) produced by the mine, full solid waste shotcrete (HFS-BFRS) was prepared with HFS as fine aggregate in cooperation with basalt fiber (BF). The strength growth characteristics of HFS-BFRS were analyzed. And the fitting equation of compressive strength growth characteristics of HFS-BFRS under the synergistic effect of multiple factors was given. And based on the orthogonal experimental method, the effects on the compressive strength, splitting tensile strength and flexural strength of HFS-BFRS under the action of different levels of influencing factors were investigated.… More >

Abstract Recent years have witnessed an increase in the quantity of waste glass (WG) across the globe. Replacing the fine aggregate with WG is one of the steps toward preserving the natural resources of the environment and creating low-cost concrete. The present study is concerned with replacing fine aggregates with glass powder (GP) at (0%, 15%, 30%, and 50%). It has studied the fresh and hardened properties (compressive strength, tensile strength, hardened density, and slump) for all the mentioned percent replacements. The findings have shown that all mixtures containing GP gave acceptable slump results within the More >

Abstract Recently, urbanization becomes a major concern for developing as well as developed countries. Owing to the increased urbanization, one of the important challenging issues in smart cities is waste management. So, automated waste detection and classification model becomes necessary for the smart city and to accomplish better recyclable waste management. Effective recycling of waste offers the chance of reducing the quantity of waste disposed to the land fill by minimizing the requirement of collecting raw materials. This study develops a novel Deep Consensus Network with Whale Optimization Algorithm for Recycling Waste Object Detection (DCNWO-RWOD) in… More >

Abstract Greenhouse gas emissions from waste plastics have caused global warming all over the world, which has been a central threat to the ecological environment for humans, flora and fauna. Among waste plastics, waste polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is attractive due to its excellent stability and degradation-resistant. Therefore, merging China’s carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals would be beneficial. In this review, we summarize the current state-of-the-art of carbon emission decrease from a multi-scale perspective technologically. We suggest that the carbon peak for waste PET can be achieved by employing the closed-loop supply chain, including recycling, biomass More > Graphic Abstract

    Huazhe Jiao1,2,3, Wenxiang Zhang1,2,3,*, Yunfei Wang1,2,3,*, Xinming Chen1,2,3, Liuhua Yang1,2,3, Yangyang Rong1,2,3

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.3, pp. 1513-1529, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2023.026008 - 31 October 2022

Abstract The green disposal of tailings solid waste is a problem to be solved in mine production. Cemented tailings filling stoping method can realize the dual goals of solid waste resource utilization and mined-out area reduction. However, the volume of the mined-out area of the open-pit method is larger than the filling capacity, resulting in the complex stratification of the underground backfill, and the strength of the backfill cannot meet the requirements. In this paper, according to the delamination situation, the specimens of horizontal and inclination angle layered cemented tailings backfill (LCTB) is made for a… More >

Abstract The growing number of decarbonization standards in the transportation sector has resulted in an increase in demand for electric cars. Renewable energy sources have the ability to bring the fossil fuel age to an end. Electrochemical storage devices, particularly lithium-ion batteries, are critical for this transition’s success. This is owing to a combination of favorable characteristics such as high energy density and minimal self-discharge. Given the environmental degradation caused by hazardous wastes and the scarcity of some resources, recycling used lithium-ion batteries has significant economic and practical importance. Many efforts have been undertaken in recent… More >

Exocytosis, endocytosis and recycling of secretory vesicles in neuroendocrine cells, and its regulation by cortical actin

    ANA M. CÁRDENAS1,*, LUCIANA I. GALLO2, FERNANDO D. MARENGO2,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.8, pp. 1867-1873, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2022.019086 - 22 April 2022

Abstract The cortical actin network is a mesh of filaments distributed beneath the plasmalemma that dynamically reacts in response to stimuli. This dynamic network of cortical filaments, together with motor myosin partners, adjusts the plasmalemma tension, organizes membrane protein microdomains, remodels the cell surface and drives vesicle motion in order to fine-tune exocytosis, endocytosis and recycling of secretory vesicles. In this review, we discuss how these mechanisms work in secretory cells. More >

    Jinglong Huai1, Xiaoxue Liu2,*, Yinhai Zhang1, Yang Yang1, Yan Gou1, Li Qin1, Jinling Shan1, Yancheng Zheng1, Hao Li1,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.6, pp. 1711-1726, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.018474 - 20 January 2022

Abstract Because of its unique pore structure, good hydrothermal stability and high specific surface area, hierarchical TS-1 zeolite (HTS-1) has become an important catalyst for the deep oxidative desulfurization of fuel oils. In this work, HTS-1 has been successfully synthesized by a hydrothermal crystallization method using the C-SiO2 composite as both silicon source and mesoporous template, tetrapropylammonium hydroxide as microporous template, and tetrabutylorthotitanate as titanium source. The C-SiO2 composite is obtained by mild carbonization of the SiO2/T-40 (Tween 40) xerogel, which is prepared by the two step sol-gel method. The reaction conditions for the oxidative desulfurization (ODS) of… More > Graphic Abstract

Abstract According to empirical evidence, high levels of energy and considerable amounts of natural resources are used in the production of concrete. Given the context, this study explores self-consolidating concrete (SCC) that includes rice husk ash (RHA) and metal furnace slag (MFS) as an alternative to cement and the natural aggregates in standard SCC mixes. In this study, mixture designs are investigated with 20 wt.% of RHA, 10–30 wt.% of MFS and water-to-powder material ratios of 0.30 and 0.40. Based on the findings regarding the fresh-state, hardened-state, and durability properties of the resulting SCC mixes, it More >
