    Abstract Eryngium regnellii Malme belongs to the largest genera in the Apiaceae family, with 250 species worldwide and 65 represented in South America. It is a herbaceous species typical of hill plant communities, which, along with remnant grassland patches, are the most relevant natural habitats for the maintenance of diversity in the Southern Pampas. Eryngium regnellii is key to the maintenance of pollination mutualisms, being a generalist (displaying a diverse assemblage of pollinators) and ubiquitous species (present in all studied sierras).     Morphology, viability and germination of candelilla seeds (Euphorbia antisyphilitica Zucc.)

    Abstract Candelilla (Euphorbia antisyphilitica Zucc.) is a native plant in the desert regions of northern Mexico and the southern United States. The primary commercial use of this plant is for wax production. This study assessed the morphology, viability, and the effects of temperature in combination with chemical and mechanical scarification on the germination of candelilla seeds. Seeds were collected in four localities in northeastern Mexico. The seeds were predominantly pyriform with foveolate surfaces and brown in color; on average, the seeds measured 2.92 ± 0.26, 1.91 ± 0.22, and 1.50 ± 0.41 mm in length, width, and thickness, respectively.     Abstract Cologania broussonetii (Balb.) DC. (Fabaceae) grows from the Bolivian eastern Andes to the north west of Argentina, Cordoba hills and San Luis Province. It is recognized as a native forage. The objectives of this study were to characterize the seed, the germination and the seedling of C. broussonetii. Seed structure was characterized through free hand sections and analyzed with optical and stereoscopic microscopy.     Effect of the scarification methods on the germination and growth of seeds of the Fabaceae family members in presence of silver nanoparticles

    Abstract The effect of scarification methods and silver nanoparticles on plantlets growth were tested on seeds of plants belonging to the Fabaceae family (Prosopis laevigata, Acacia farnesiana and Erythrina americana), which are predominant species in semi-arid ecosystems in Mexico. The scarification methods consisted in using coarse sand paper and two different concentrations of sulphuric acid (H2SO4 98% and H2SO4 50%); immersion of seeds in distilled water was used as a control.
