    Abstract An incremental press-forming method was newly developed for the fabrication of spiral plates of a continuous screw conveyer, boring screw, screw pump and so on. In this method, a pair of V-shaped punches and dies with two opposite inclined edges are used instead of punch and die with spiral surfaces. The experiments on incremental forming were carried out on aluminum alloy and steel disks with a hole and a slit, and the deformation process of the plate during and after the press-forming was simulated by a finite element method (FEM).     Study on Shear Test of New Style Automotive Structural Adhesive using Digital Image Correlation Method

    Abstract In this paper, digital image correlation method (DICM) is employed to measure the shear behavior of the spot welding specimens and the ones using adhesive under quasi-static lap shear testing. The images of the specimens' surfaces are captured in real-time by CCD and corresponding computer system. DICM is subsequently used to obtained strain by correlating the images captured before and after deformation. Then, both force-displacement curves and stress-strain curves of the specimens including the cracking load are obtained.     Abstract We address a new numerical approach to deal with these multi-dimensional backward wave problems (BWPs) in this study. A fictitious time τ is utilized to transform the dependent variable u(x, y, z, t) into a new one by (1+τ)u(x, y, z, t)=: v(x, y, z, t, τ), such that the original wave equation is written as a new hyperbolic type partial differential equation in the space of (x, y, z, t, τ).     Abstract Only the left-boundary data of temperature and heat flux are used to estimate an unknown parameter function α(x) in Tt(x,t) = ∂(α(x)Tx)/∂x + h(x,t), as well as to recover the right-boundary data. When α(x) is given the above problem is a well-known inverse heat conduction problem (IHCP). This paper solves a mixed-type inverse problem as a combination of the IHCP and the problem of parameter identification, without needing to assume a function form of α(x) a priori, and without measuring extra data as those used by other methods.     Abstract Aim of this paper is to estimate the integrity of liquefied natural gas (LNG) prestressed storage tank under seismic influence. The coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian (CEL) analysis technique is used to simulate the fluid-structure interaction between LNG and the cylinder of LNG prestressed storage tank. The 3-D model of LNG has been dispersed by Eulerian mesh that is different from traditional analysis method which is called the added mass method.     Abstract ETFE cushions are increasingly being used to form high-profile facades and structural forms. This investigation aims to extend an analytical theory of large deformation in order to predict the shape and stress distributions of an un-patterned square ETFE cushion without the need to resort to discretised numerical methods. In order to assess the validity of the theoretical procedure a prototype cushion has been analysed using a finite element simulation.     Viscous Equations of Fluid Film Dynamics

    Abstract We model viscosity in the framework of the exact nonlinear equations of fluid film dynamics. The proposed approach yields monotonic dissipation of energy and guarantees that viscous forces are not engaged when the film undergoes rigid motion. With the addition of viscosity, the governing system has all the essential elements - inertia, surface tension, interaction with the ambient medium, influence of external fields and, now, viscosity - for accurate prediction and interpretation of experimental observations.     Abstract The phonon properties of spatially confined nanofilms under the preexisting stress fields are investigated theoretically by accounting for the confinement effects and acoustoelastic effects. Due to the spatial confinement in low-dimensional structures, the phonon dispersion relations, phonon group velocities as well as the phonon density of states are of significant difference with the ones in bulk structures.
