    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.1, pp. 397-412, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.019470

Abstract The two main approaches that countries are using to ease the strain on healthcare infrastructure is building temporary hospitals that are specialized in treating COVID-19 patients and promoting preventive measures. As such, the selection of the optimal location for a temporary hospital and the calculation of the prioritization of preventive measures are two of the most critical decisions during the pandemic, especially in densely populated areas where the risk of transmission of the virus is highest. If the location selection process or the prioritization of measures is poor, healthcare workers and patients can be harmed, and unnecessary costs may come… More >

    Mary Aksa1, Junaid Rashid2,*, Muhammad Wasif Nisar1, Toqeer Mahmood3, Hyuk-Yoon Kwon4, Amir Hussain5

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.3, pp. 3931-3946, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.016081

Abstract Advancements in next-generation sequencer (NGS) platforms have improved NGS sequence data production and reduced the cost involved, which has resulted in the production of a large amount of genome data. The downstream analysis of multiple associated sequences has become a bottleneck for the growing genomic data due to storage and space utilization issues in the domain of bioinformatics. The traditional string-matching algorithms are efficient for small sized data sequences and cannot process large amounts of data for downstream analysis. This study proposes a novel bit-parallelism algorithm called BitmapAligner to overcome the issues faced due to a large number of sequences… More >

    J.-Y. Scoazec

    Oncologie, Vol.21, No.2, pp. 119-124, 2019, DOI:10.3166/onco-2019-0052

Abstract The WHO classification of the tumors of endocrine organs, published in July 2017 and that of digestive tumors, released in July 2019, have introduced significant changes in the classification of gastro-entero-pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (NETs), which was unchanged since 2010. The main change is a new category of well-differentiated neoplasms, NET G3, in addition to the two previous categories NET G1 and NET G2. The other changes are: 1) the cut-off in Ki-67 index between NET G1 and G2, now set at 3%, 2) the term used for mixed tumors: MiNEN (mixed neuroendocrine-non neuroendocrine neoplasm) instead of MANEC (mixed adenoneuroendocrine carcinoma).… More >

    Congenital Heart Disease, Vol.16, No.4, pp. 397-410, 2021, DOI:10.32604/CHD.2021.015167

Abstract Background and Method: The genetic cause of infantile-onset cardiomyopathy is rarely investigated. Here, we conducted whole exome sequencing (WES) and mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) sequencing in eight patients with infantile-onset cardiomyopathy to identify genetic variations. Result: Among these patients, two (25%) had dilated cardiomyopathy (DCMP), two (25%) had left ventricular non-compaction (LVNC), and four (50%) had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCMP). Except four patients identified prenatally, the remaining patients presented at a median age of 85.5 days. WES identified genetic variants in a total of seven (87.5%) patients and mtDNA sequencing in the other case. TPM1 and MYH7 variants were identified in the… More >
