Cyberattack Detection Framework Using Machine Learning and User Behavior Analytics

    Abdullah Alshehri1,*, Nayeem Khan1, Ali Alowayr1, Mohammed Yahya Alghamdi2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.44, No.2, pp. 1679-1689, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.026526

Abstract This paper proposes a novel framework to detect cyber-attacks using Machine Learning coupled with User Behavior Analytics. The framework models the user behavior as sequences of events representing the user activities at such a network. The represented sequences are then fitted into a recurrent neural network model to extract features that draw distinctive behavior for individual users. Thus, the model can recognize frequencies of regular behavior to profile the user manner in the network. The subsequent procedure is that the recurrent neural network would detect abnormal behavior by classifying unknown behavior to either regular or irregular behavior. The importance of… More >

Abstract In the Smart Grid (SG) residential environment, consumers change their power consumption routine according to the price and incentives announced by the utility, which causes the prices to deviate from the initial pattern. Thereby, electricity demand and price forecasting play a significant role and can help in terms of reliability and sustainability. Due to the massive amount of data, big data analytics for forecasting becomes a hot topic in the SG domain. In this paper, the changing and non-linearity of consumer consumption pattern complex data is taken as input. To minimize the computational cost and complexity of the data, the… More >

Internal Validity Index for Fuzzy Clustering Based on Relative Uncertainty

Refik Tanju Sirmen1,*, Burak Berk Üstündağ2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.72, No.2, pp. 2909-2926, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.023947

Abstract Unsupervised clustering and clustering validity are used as essential instruments of data analytics. Despite clustering being realized under uncertainty, validity indices do not deliver any quantitative evaluation of the uncertainties in the suggested partitionings. Also, validity measures may be biased towards the underlying clustering method. Moreover, neglecting a confidence requirement may result in over-partitioning. In the absence of an error estimate or a confidence parameter, probable clustering errors are forwarded to the later stages of the system. Whereas, having an uncertainty margin of the projected labeling can be very fruitful for many applications such as machine learning. Herein, the validity… More >

Tuning Rules for Fractional Order PID Controller Using Data Analytics

    P. R. Varshini*, S. Baskar, M. Varatharajan, S. Sadhana

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.33, No.3, pp. 1787-1799, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.024192

    Abstract

Flexibility and robust performance have made the FOPID (Fractional Order PID) controllers a better choice than PID (Proportional, Integral, Derivative) controllers. But the number of tuning parameters decreases the usage of FOPID controllers. Using synthetic data in available FOPID tuners leads to abnormal controller performances limiting their applicability. Hence, a new tuning methodology involving real-time data and overcomes the drawbacks of mathematical modeling is the need of the hour. This paper proposes a novel FOPID controller tuning methodology using machine learning algorithms. Feed Forward Back Propagation Neural Network (FFBPNN), Multi Least Squares Support Vector Regression (MLSSVR) chosen to design Machine… More >
