A DDoS Attack Situation Assessment Method via Optimized Cloud Model Based on Influence Function

    Xiangyan Tang1, Qidong Zheng1,*, Jieren Cheng1,2, Victor S. Sheng3, Rui Cao1, Meizhu Chen1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.60, No.3, pp. 1263-1281, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.06173

Abstract The existing network security situation assessment methods cannot effectively assess the Distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack situation. In order to solve these problems, we propose a DDoS attack situation assessment method via optimized cloud model based on influence function. Firstly, according to the state change characteristics of the IP addresses which are accessed by new and old user respectively, this paper defines a fusion feature value. Then, based on this value, we establish a V-Support Vector Machines (V-SVM) classification model to analyze network flow for identifying DDoS attacks. Secondly, according to the change of new and old IP addresses, we propose… More >

MSICST: Multiple-Scenario Industrial Control System Testbed for Security Research

    Wei Xu1,2, Yaodong Tao2,3, Chunfang Yang4,*, Huiqin Chen5

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.60, No.2, pp. 691-705, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.05678

Abstract A security testbed is an important aspect of Industrial Control System (ICS) security research. However, existing testbeds still have many problems in that they cannot fully simulate enterprise networks and ICS attacks. This paper presents a Multiple-Scenario Industrial Control System Testbed (MSICST), a hardware-in-the-loop ICS testbed for security research. The testbed contains four typical process scenarios: thermal power plant, rail transit, smart grid, and intelligent manufacturing. We use a combination of actual physical equipment and software simulations to build the process scenario sand table and use real hardware and software to build the control systems, demilitarized zone, and enterprise zone… More >

Design of Feedback Shift Register of Against Power Analysis Attack

    Yongbin Zhao1,*, XuYang1, RanranLi1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.58, No.2, pp. 517-527, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.03680

Abstract Stream ciphers based on linear feedback shift register (LFSR) are suitable for constrained environments, such as satellite communications, radio frequency identification devices tag, sensor networks and Internet of Things, due to its simple hardware structures, high speed encryption and lower power consumption. LFSR, as a cryptographic primitive, has been used to generate a maximum period sequence. Because the switching of the status bits is regular, the power consumption of the LFSR is correlated in a linear way. As a result, the power consumption characteristics of stream cipher based on LFSR are vulnerable to leaking initialization vectors under the power attacks.… More >

Analysis and Improvement of an Efficient Controlled Quantum Secure Direct Communication and Authentication Protocol

    Jifeng Zhong1,*, Zhihao Liu2,3,*, Juan Xu4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.57, No.3, pp. 621-633, 2018, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2018.03706

Abstract The controlled quantum secure direct communication (CQSDC) with authentication protocol based on four particle cluster states via quantum one-time pad and local unitary operations is cryptanalyzed. It is found that there are some serious security issues in this protocol. An eavesdropper (Eve) can eavesdrop on some information of the identity strings of the receiver and the controller without being detected by the selective-CNOT-operation (SCNO) attack. By the same attack, Eve can also steal some information of the secret message that the sender transmits. In addition, the receiver can take the same kind of attack to eavesdrop on some information of… More >

A Highly Effective DPA Attack Method Based on Genetic Algorithm

    Shuaiwei Zhang1, Xiaoyuan Yang1,*, Weidong Zhong1, Yujuan Sun2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.56, No.2, pp. 325-338, 2018, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2018.03611

Abstract As one of the typical method for side channel attack, DPA has become a serious trouble for the security of encryption algorithm implementation. The potential capability of DPA attack induces researchers making a lot of efforts in this area, which significantly improved the attack efficiency of DPA. However, most of these efforts were made based on the hypothesis that the gathered power consumption data from the target device were stable and low noise. If large deviation happens in part of the power consumption data sample, the efficiency of DPA attack will be reduced rapidly. In this work, a highly efficient… More >

An Abnormal Network Flow Feature Sequence Prediction Approach for DDoS Attacks Detection in Big Data Environment

    Jieren Cheng1,2, Ruomeng Xu1,*, Xiangyan Tang1, Victor S. Sheng3, Canting Cai1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.55, No.1, pp. 95-119, 2018, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2018.055.095

Abstract Distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) is a rapidly growing problem with the fast development of the Internet. There are multitude DDoS detection approaches, however, three major problems about DDoS attack detection appear in the big data environment. Firstly, to shorten the respond time of the DDoS attack detector; secondly, to reduce the required compute resources; lastly, to achieve a high detection rate with low false alarm rate. In the paper, we propose an abnormal network flow feature sequence prediction approach which could fit to be used as a DDoS attack detector in the big data environment and solve aforementioned problems. We define… More >
