    Journal of Polymer Materials, Vol.38, No.1-2, pp. 153-166, 2021, DOI:10.32381/JPM.2021.38.1-2.12

Abstract We have synthesized Schiff’s base of Fe3 O4 @chitosan with 4,4'-diselenobisbenzaldehyde (Fe3O4 @CSSe) composite and used it as acatalyst for the oxidation of sulfides, having some advantageous properties such as eco-friendly, cost-effective and highly efficient magnetic biocatalyst of selenium. The synthesized schiff’s base was characterized by different physical characterization techniques such as Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM)and Dynamic light scattering (DLS). Further, we used the resulting schiff’s base as a catalyst in the presence of a green oxidant (H2 O2 ) to oxidize sulfides to corresponding sulfoxides at room temperature. It More >

Abstract Rice husk ash is a side-product of rice production; thus, it is a cheap, abundant, and renewable material, and utilized as an enzyme carrier to immobilize Candida antarctica lipase B. In this study, Candida antarctica lipase B immobilized onto rice husk ashes was used to catalyze ring opening polymerization of 16-membered lactone, ω-pentadecalactone. In order to determine the best polymerization conditions for highest molar mass polymer, reactions were proceeded at various temperatures and time periods. The best reaction conditions were obtained as 80°C and 6 hours (Mn = 34255 g mol-1). Molecular structure of this polymer More >

    SORAYA SEGHIER1,2,*, MOHAMMED BELBACHIR1

    Journal of Polymer Materials, Vol.38, No.3-4, pp. 205-218, 2021, DOI:10.32381/JPM.2021.38.3-4.3

Abstract In the present paper, we report the synthesis of a new amino polymer made of oxazolidinone using an efficient ecocatalyst called Maghnite-H+. The synthesis process contains two steps: the first consists to the preparation of an amino oxiran 3-(oxiran-ylmethyl) oxazolidin- 2-one (OMO) by a substitution reaction of epichlorhydrin by 2-oxazolidinone, the second step concerns a green polymerization of the resultant oxiran by a ring opening reaction catalysed by Maghnite-H+. The polymer have been successfully prepared and characterized by various techniques, such as 1H NMR, 13C NMR, IR, which were used to elucidate the structural characteristics of the More >

Abstract The rye genome has shown potential for improvement of bread wheat, where wheat-rye substitutions and translocations have been and are frequently used in resistance breeding. Crosses belongs to different generations viz., BC1F1, BC1F2, BC1F3, BC1F4 and BC2F3 of triticale × wheat derived were used for different haploid induction parameters using Gogon grass (Imperata cylindrica) as a pollen source. The percentage of pseudo seed formation ranged from 34.55% for BC1F2 to 63.77 for BC1F1 crosses, the haploid embryo formation ranges from 9.43% for BC1F1 to 30.2% for BC1F2, the haploid plant generation ranges from 19.36% for BC1F2 to 63.25% for BC1F1. BARKAT ALI KHAN1, FAZAL KARIM1, MUHAMMAD KHALID KHAN1,*, FAHEEM HAIDER1, SADIQULLAH KHAN2

    BIOCELL, Vol.45, No.5, pp. 1273-1285, 2021, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2021.015323 - 12 July 2021

Abstract The fourth most predominant overwhelming type of trauma is burn injuries worldwide. Ideal wound healing dressings help in the wound healing process in a lower time with less pain. Commonly used dry wound dressing, like absorbent gauze or absorbent cotton, possess limited therapeutic effects and require repeated use, which further exaggerates patients’ suffering. In contrast, hydrogels films present a promising alternative to improve healing by guaranteeing a moisture balance at the wound site. The aim of the current study was to synthesize Tamarix aphylla (T. aphylla) extract-loaded hydrogel film with Na-CMC and pectin and to study their… More >

Abstract Pakistan is facing the threat of Cotton Leaf Curl Virus (CLCuV) which is transmitted through whitefly to cotton crop. Molecular mechanism of leaf epicuticular wax protects the plants from different pathogens including insect attack and disease transmission. Objective of current study is the isolation and characterization of a wax related gene GaCyPI from Gossypium arboreum under CLCuV infection. A fragment of 475 bp was isolated from the total RNA and 3’ and 5’ RACE-PCR products were arranged by overlapping the extended sequences at both the ends. Deduced protein sequence of GaCyPI showed homology with Cyclophilin cis-trans isomerase… More >

Abstract High electron mobility transistor (HEMT) based on gallium nitride (GaN) is one of the most promising candidates for the future generation of high frequencies and high-power electronic applications. This research work aims at designing and characterization of enhancement-mode or normally-off GaN HEMT. The impact of variations in gate length, mole concentration, barrier variations and other important design parameters on the performance of normally-off GaN HEMT is thoroughly investigated. An increase in the gate length causes a decrease in the drain current and transconductance, while an increase in drain current and transconductance can be achieved by… More >

Abstract The nonlinearity of the strain energy at an interval period of applying seismic load on the geostructures makes it difficult for a seismic designer to makes appropriate engineering judgments timely. The nonlinear stress and strain analysis of an embankment is needed to evaluate by using a combination of suitable methods. In this study, a large-scale geostructure was seismically simulated and analyzed using the nonlinear finite element method (NFEM), and linear regression method which is a soft computing technique (SC) was applied for evaluating the results of NFEM, and it supports engineering judgment because the design… More >
