Inferring Spatial Distribution Patterns in Web Maps for Land Cover Mapping

    Yang Liu1, Zeying Lan4, Hanfa Xing2,3,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.119, No.2, pp. 311-330, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2019.04284

Abstract Web maps represent an effective source for land cover mapping in capturing human activities. However, due to spatial heterogeneity, previous research has mainly focused on generating land cover maps in partial areas. Inferring spatial distribution patterns in Web maps may provide an alternative perspective on improving map production on a larger scale. This paper represents a novel approach to investigating the spatial distribution in Web maps for land cover mapping. First, linear features from Web maps are utilised to delineate parcels with insufficient Web map data for classification. Then, spatial factors are constructed from point and polygon features to identify… More >

Protein Secondary Structure Prediction with Dynamic Self-Adaptation Combination Strategy Based on Entropy

    Yuehan Du1,2, Ruoyu Zhang1, Xu Zhang1, Antai Ouyang3, Xiaodong Zhang4, Jinyong Cheng1, Wenpeng Lu1,*

    Journal of Quantum Computing, Vol.1, No.1, pp. 21-28, 2019, DOI:10.32604/jqc.2019.06063

Abstract The algorithm based on combination learning usually is superior to a single classification algorithm on the task of protein secondary structure prediction. However, the assignment of the weight of the base classifier usually lacks decision-making evidence. In this paper, we propose a protein secondary structure prediction method with dynamic self-adaptation combination strategy based on entropy, where the weights are assigned according to the entropy of posterior probabilities outputted by base classifiers. The higher entropy value means a lower weight for the base classifier. The final structure prediction is decided by the weighted combination of posterior probabilities. Extensive experiments on CB513… More >

A Comparative Study of Bayes Classifiers for Blade Fault Diagnosis in Wind Turbines through Vibration Signals

    A. Joshuva1, V. Sugumaran2

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.11, No.1, pp. 69-90, 2017, DOI:10.3970/sdhm.2017.012.069

Abstract Renewable energy sources are considered much in energy fields because of the contemporary energy calamities. Among the important alternatives being considered, wind energy is a durable competitor because of its dependability due to the development of the innovations, comparative cost effectiveness and great framework. To yield wind energy more proficiently, the structure of wind turbines has turned out to be substantially bigger, creating conservation and renovation works troublesome. Due to various ecological conditions, wind turbine blades are subjected to vibration and it leads to failure. If the failure is not diagnosed early, it will lead to catastrophic damage to the… More >

Traffic Sign Recognition Method Integrating Multi-Layer Features and Kernel Extreme Learning Machine Classifier

    Wei Sun1,3,*, Hongji Du1, Shoubai Nie2,3, Xiaozheng He4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.60, No.1, pp. 147-161, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.03581

Abstract Traffic sign recognition (TSR), as a critical task to automated driving and driver assistance systems, is challenging due to the color fading, motion blur, and occlusion. Traditional methods based on convolutional neural network (CNN) only use an end-layer feature as the input to TSR that requires massive data for network training. The computation-intensive network training process results in an inaccurate or delayed classification. Thereby, the current state-of-the-art methods have limited applications. This paper proposes a new TSR method integrating multi-layer feature and kernel extreme learning machine (ELM) classifier. The proposed method applies CNN to extract the multi-layer features of traffic… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.59, No.3, pp. 729-739, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.05945

Abstract The perfect image retrieval and retrieval time are the two major challenges in CBIR systems. To improve the retrieval accuracy, the whole database is searched based on many image characteristics such as color, shape, texture and edge information which leads to more time consumption. This paper presents a new fuzzy based CBIR method, which utilizes colour, shape and texture attributes of the image. Fuzzy rule based system is developed by combining color, shape, and texture feature for enhanced image recovery. In this approach, DWT is used to pull out the texture characteristics and the region based moment invariant is utilized… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.59, No.2, pp. 591-606, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.05208

Abstract High-density street-level reliable landmarks are one of the important foundations for street-level geolocation. However, the existing methods cannot obtain enough street-level landmarks in a short period of time. In this paper, a street-level landmarks acquisition method based on SVM (Support Vector Machine) classifiers is proposed. Firstly, the port detection results of IPs with known services are vectorized, and the vectorization results are used as an input of the SVM training. Then, the kernel function and penalty factor are adjusted for SVM classifiers training, and the optimal SVM classifiers are obtained. After that, the classifier sequence is constructed, and the IPs… More >
