    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.126, No.2, pp. 791-819, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.012169

Abstract Understanding a phenomenon from observed data requires contextual and efficient statistical models. Such models are based on probability distributions having sufficiently flexible statistical properties to adapt to a maximum of situations. Modern examples include the distributions of the truncated Fréchet generated family. In this paper, we go even further by introducing a more general family, based on a truncated version of the generalized Fréchet distribution. This generalization involves a new shape parameter modulating to the extreme some central and dispersion parameters, as well as the skewness and weight of the tails. We also investigate the main functions of the new… More >

Impact of Distance Measures on the Performance of AIS Data Clustering

    Marta Mieczyńska1,*, Ireneusz Czarnowski2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.36, No.1, pp. 69-82, 2021, DOI:10.32604/csse.2021.014327

Abstract Automatic Identification System (AIS) data stream analysis is based on the AIS data of different vessel’s behaviours, including the vessels’ routes. When the AIS data consists of outliers, noises, or are incomplete, then the analysis of the vessel’s behaviours is not possible or is limited. When the data consists of outliers, it is not possible to automatically assign the AIS data to a particular vessel. In this paper, a clustering method is proposed to support the AIS data analysis, to qualify noises and outliers with respect to their suitability, and finally to aid the reconstruction of the vessel’s trajectory. CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.1, pp. 389-405, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.012384

Abstract Water is one of the basic resources for human survival. Water pollution monitoring and protection have been becoming a major problem for many countries all over the world. Most traditional water quality monitoring systems, however, generally focus only on water quality data collection, ignoring data analysis and data mining. In addition, some dirty data and data loss may occur due to power failures or transmission failures, further affecting data analysis and its application. In order to meet these needs, by using Internet of things, cloud computing, and big data technologies, we designed and implemented a water quality monitoring data intelligent… More >

Topp-Leone Odd Fréchet Generated Family of Distributions with Applications to COVID-19 Data Sets

    Sanaa Al-Marzouki1, Farrukh Jamal2, Christophe Chesneau3,*, Mohammed Elgarhy4

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.125, No.1, pp. 437-458, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.011521

Abstract Recent studies have pointed out the potential of the odd Fréchet family (or class) of continuous distributions in fitting data of all kinds. In this article, we propose an extension of this family through the so-called “Topp-Leone strategy”, aiming to improve its overall flexibility by adding a shape parameter. The main objective is to offer original distributions with modifiable properties, from which adaptive and pliant statistical models can be derived. For the new family, these aspects are illustrated by the means of comprehensive mathematical and numerical results. In particular, we emphasize a special distribution with three parameters based on the… More >

Abstract It is well known that the nonparametric estimation of the regression function is highly sensitive to the presence of even a small proportion of outliers in the data. To solve the problem of typical observations when the covariates of the nonparametric component are functional, the robust estimates for the regression parameter and regression operator are introduced. The main propose of the paper is to consider data-driven methods of selecting the number of neighbors in order to make the proposed processes fully automatic. We use the More >

    Wei Li1, 2, 3, Min Zhou1, *, Hairong Dong1

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.26, No.3, pp. 531-538, 2020, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2020.013930

Abstract Different types of stations have different functional roles in the urban rail transit network. Firstly, based on the characteristics of the urban rail transit network structure, the time series features and passenger flow features of the station smart card data are extracted. Secondly, we use the principal component analysis method to select the suitable clustering variables. Finally, we propose a station classification model based on the two-step cluster method. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified in the Beijing subway. The results show that the proposed model can successfully identify the types of urban rail transit stations, clarify the… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.65, No.1, pp. 419-432, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.010911

Abstract The internal structure of the inertial measurement unit (IMU) in active state is easily damaged in the high overload environment. So that the IMU is usually required to be powered within the disappearance of the high overload. In this paper, a mechanical switch is designed to enable the IMU based on the analysis of the impact of high overload on the power-supply circuit. In which, parameters of mechanical switch are determined through theoretical calculation and data analysis. The innovation of the proposed structure lies in that the mechanical switch is triggered through the high overload process and could provide a… More >
