    Junru Liu, Yonggui Lv*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.37, No.2, pp. 2421-2439, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.040262

Abstract Numerous clothing enterprises in the market have a relatively low efficiency of assembly line planning due to insufficient optimization of bottleneck stations. As a result, the production efficiency of the enterprise is not high, and the production organization is not up to expectations. Aiming at the problem of flexible process route planning in garment workshops, a multi-object genetic algorithm is proposed to solve the assembly line balance optimization problem and minimize the machine adjustment path. The encoding method adopts the object-oriented path representation method, and the initial population is generated by random topology sorting based on an in-degree selection mechanism.… More >

    N. Kanagaraj1,*, Obaid Aldosari1, M. Ramasamy2, M. Vijayakumar2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.37, No.2, pp. 2291-2306, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.039101

Abstract The generation of electricity, considering environmental and economic factors is one of the most important challenges of recent years. In this article, a thermoelectric generator (TEG) is proposed to use the thermal energy of an electric water heater (EWH) to generate electricity independently. To improve the energy conversion efficiency of the TEG, a fuzzy logic controller (FLC)-based perturb & observe (P&O) type maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control algorithm is used in this study. An EWH is one of the major electricity consuming household appliances which causes a higher electricity price for consumers. Also, a significant amount of thermal energy… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.37, No.2, pp. 1621-1635, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.037898

Abstract Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) is an important part of the security architecture of modern mobile devices, but its secure interaction process brings extra computing burden to mobile devices. This paper takes open portable trusted execution environment (OP-TEE) as the research object and deploys it to Raspberry Pi 3B, designs and implements a benchmark for OP-TEE, and analyzes its program characteristics. Furthermore, the application execution time, energy consumption and energy-delay product (EDP) are taken as the optimization objectives, and the central processing unit (CPU) frequency scheduling strategy of mobile devices is dynamically adjusted according to the characteristics of different applications through… More >

STUDY ON THE LIFETIME OF CATALYST IN CATALYTIC COMBUSTION FURNACE OF NATURAL GAS AND APPLICATIONS OF HEATING POTTERY

    Shihong Zhang* , Hui Yang

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.12, pp. 1-5, 2019, DOI:10.5098/hmt.12.6

Abstract This article discussed the lifetime of catalyst on cost effect for catalytic combustion furnace and applications of pottery heated by catalytic combustion furnace in purification water. The time of start-up process rises with the increase of the number of ignition. The catalyst sintering was remarkable. By reducing the number of ignition and adjusting the temperature rise uniformly in the furnace, the efficient utilization of thermal energy could be realized to saving production cost and extending the lifetime of catalyst. With exquisite and even-textured surface the pottery had striking purification effect on water. The water purification material of this pottery was… More >

THERMAL PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT IN A SQUARE CHANNEL HEAT EXCHANGER WITH VARIOUS PARAMETERS OF V-WAVY PLATES

    Amnart Boonloia, Withada Jedsadaratanachaib,*

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.12, pp. 1-9, 2019, DOI:10.5098/hmt.12.1

Abstract Numerical examinations on flow and heat transfer behaviors in a square channel heat exchanger equipped with various configurations of V-wavy plate are performed. The pitch-to-channel height ratios, wavy height-to-channel height ratios and flow directions of the test section are investigated for the Reynolds number in the range of 100 – 1000 (laminar flow regime). The finite volume method is selected for the present investigation. The results are reported in terms of flow and heat transfer mechanisms in the channel. The thermal performance assessments of the square channel fitted with the V-wavy plate are also concluded. As the numerical results, the… More >

INFLUENCE OF RING SIZE AND LOCATION ON FLOW TOPOLOGY, HEAT TRANSFER STRUCTURE AND THERMAL EFFICIENCY IN HEAT EXCHANGER SQUARE CHANNEL PLACED WITH 30-DEGREE INCLINED SQUARE RING

    Amnart Boonloia, Withada Jedsadaratanachaib,*

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.13, pp. 1-11, 2019, DOI:10.5098/hmt.13.28

Abstract This paper presents the numerical investigations (finite volume method with SIMPLE algorithm) on flow structure, heat transfer behavior and performance assessment in heat exchanger square channel placed with 30o inclined square ring (ISR). The influences of ring size and placement on flow and heat transfer characteristics are considered for laminar flow region with the Reynolds number in the range around 100 – 2000. The purpose for the insertion of the ISR in the square channel is to induce the vortex flow and also increase the turbulent mixing. The numerical result reveals that the ring size and location have effects for… More >

    PHYSICAL HEAT TRANSFER

    Hai-Dong Wanga , Zeng-Yuan Guoa,*

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.13, pp. 1-12, 2019, DOI:10.5098/hmt.13.20

Abstract The classical heat transfer theory is established on the empirical models of Fourier’s heat conduction law and Newton’s cooling law. Although the classical theory has been successfully used in a wide range of industrial engineering applications, it lacks deep understanding of the physical mechanisms for energy transport and analytical methodology based on solid mathematical and mechanical principles. The rapid development of modern science and technology challenges the traditional heat transfer theory in two aspects: (1) Fourier’s law of heat conduction is no longer valid under the ultra-fast laser heating or nanoscale conditions; (2) The optimization principle minimizing entropy generation is… More >

Virtual Machine Consolidation with Multi-Step Prediction and Affinity-Aware Technique for Energy-Efficient Cloud Data Centers

    Pingping Li*, Jiuxin Cao

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.76, No.1, pp. 81-105, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.039076

Abstract Virtual machine (VM) consolidation is an effective way to improve resource utilization and reduce energy consumption in cloud data centers. Most existing studies have considered VM consolidation as a bin-packing problem, but the current schemes commonly ignore the long-term relationship between VMs and hosts. In addition, there is a lack of long-term consideration for resource optimization in the VM consolidation, which results in unnecessary VM migration and increased energy consumption. To address these limitations, a VM consolidation method based on multi-step prediction and affinity-aware technique for energy-efficient cloud data centers (MPaAFVMC) is proposed. The proposed method uses an improved linear… More >

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.47, No.1, pp. 1283-1297, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.035786

Abstract Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) play a vital role in several real-time applications ranging from military to civilian. Despite the benefits of WSN, energy efficiency becomes a major part of the challenging issue in WSN, which necessitate proper load balancing amongst the clusters and serves a wider monitoring region. The clustering technique for WSN has several benefits: lower delay, higher energy efficiency, and collision avoidance. But clustering protocol has several challenges. In a large-scale network, cluster-based protocols mainly adapt multi-hop routing to save energy, leading to hot spot problems. A hot spot problem becomes a problem where a cluster node nearer… More >
