    Abstract The surrounding rock of roadways exhibits intricate characteristics of discontinuity and heterogeneity. To address these complexities, this study employs non-local Peridynamics (PD) theory and reconstructs the kernel function to represent accurately the spatial decline of long-range force. Additionally, modifications to the traditional bond-based PD model are made. By considering the micro-structure of coal-rock materials within a uniform discrete model, heterogeneity characterized by bond random pre-breaking is introduced.     Abstract The misreading problem of a passive ultra-high-frequency (UHF) radio frequency identification (RFID) tag is a frequent problem arising in the field of librarianship. Unfortunately, existing solutions are something inefficient, e.g., extra resource requirement, inaccuracy, and empiricism. To this end, under comprehensive analysis on the passive UHF RFID application in the librarianship scenario, a novel and judicious approach based on RFID localization is proposed to address such a misreading problem.     Abstract Perforation and fracturing are typically associated with the development of coalbed methane wells. As the cement sheath is prone to failure during this process, in this work, the effects of the casing pressure, elastic modulus of the cement, elastic modulus of the formation, and casing eccentricity on the resulting stresses are analyzed in the frame of a finite element method.     Prediction of the Behavior of a Power System Using Root Cause Failure Analysis

    Abstract

    The thermo-economic performance of a gas turbine is simulated using a fish bone technique to characterize the major equipment failure causes. Moreover a fault tree analysis and a Pareto technique are implemented to identify the related failure modes, and the percentage and frequency of failures, respectively. A pump 101 and drier 301 belonging to the Tabriz Petrochemical Company are considered for such analysis, which is complemented with a regression method to determine a behavioral model of this equipment over a twenty-year period.     Abstract Ply-by-ply failure analysis of symmetric and anti-symmetric laminates under uniform sinusoidal transverse dynamic loading is performed for a specified duration. The study investigates the first ply failure load, followed by the detection of successive ply failures along with their failure modes using various failure theories.     Abstract In order to study the mechanical properties of Z-pins reinforced laminated composite single-lap adhesively bonded joint under un-directional static tensile load, damage failure analysis of the joint was carried out by means of test and numerical simulation.     Abstract In this work, we have developed a novel machine (deep) learning computational framework to determine and identify damage loading parameters (conditions) for structures and materials based on the permanent or residual plastic deformation distribution or damage state of the structure.     Abstract A method to derive governing equations and elastic-plastic constitutive relations for the micropolar continuum model is proposed. Averaging procedures are operated over a surrounding sub-domain for each material point to bridge a discrete microstructure to a macro continuum model. Material parameters are determined by these procedures. The size of the sub-domain represents the material intrinsic length scale, and it is passed into the macroscopic governing equation so that the numerical solution can be regularized for analyses of failure phenomena.     Abstract To study the influence of coal mining on the stability of river levees, a mechanical model of mining-induced river levee deformation was established. This was based on the mining-induced deformation characteristics of river levees and the application of a typical surface subsidence function.
