    M. E. Shajini Sheeba1,*, P. Jagatheeswari2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.34, No.2, pp. 1141-1156, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.024549 - 03 May 2022

Abstract With abundant and non-polluting benefits in nature, sources of renewable energy have reached vast concentrations. This paper first discusses the number of MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) techniques utilized by wind and photovoltaic (PV) to create hybrid systems for generating wind-PV energy. This hybrid system complements each other day and night to enable continuous power output. Then, a new MPPT technique was proposed to extract maximum power using a newly developed hybrid optimization algorithm, namely the Cukoo Fire Fly method (CFF). The CFF algorithm is derived from the integration of the cuckoo search (CS) algorithm More >

    Haizhu Wu1,#, Jinxing Li1,#, Shouhu Bao1, Fuxian Yang1, Jun Zhang1, Hisham Essawy2,*, Guanben Du1, Xiaojian Zhou1,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.8, pp. 2029-2039, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.019834 - 25 April 2022

Abstract A cellular material in the form of 3-layered sandwich structure material was prepared via sole use of mechanical stirring without any use of a foaming agent, while Tween-80 was employed as a foam stabilizer via a developed in-situ mold casting. The resulting structure displayed a good appearance with no visual defects. The 3-layered composition of the sandwish structure, “nonporous resin layer-porous foam layer-nonporous resin layer”, was examined in terms of the microstructure, density & density distribution, pulverization ratio, mechanical strength, insulation and flame retardant performance. It was indicated from the results that the bonding between the… More > Graphic Abstract

Optimized Deep Learning Model for Fire Semantic Segmentation

    Songbin Li1,*, Peng Liu1, Qiandong Yan1, Ruiling Qian2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.72, No.3, pp. 4999-5013, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.026498 - 21 April 2022

Abstract Recent convolutional neural networks (CNNs) based deep learning has significantly promoted fire detection. Existing fire detection methods can efficiently recognize and locate the fire. However, the accurate flame boundary and shape information is hard to obtain by them, which makes it difficult to conduct automated fire region analysis, prediction, and early warning. To this end, we propose a fire semantic segmentation method based on Global Position Guidance (GPG) and Multi-path explicit Edge information Interaction (MEI). Specifically, to solve the problem of local segmentation errors in low-level feature space, a top-down global position guidance module is More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.34, No.1, pp. 15-32, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.025290 - 15 April 2022

Abstract Network-on-chip (NoC) proves to be the best alternative to replace the traditional bus-based interconnection in Multi-Processor System on a Chip (MPSoCs). Irregular NoC topologies are highly recommended and utilised in various applications as they are application specific. Optimized mapping of the cores in a NoC plays a major role in its performance. Firefly algorithm is a bio-inspired meta-heuristic approach. Discretized firefly algorithm is used in our proposed work. In this work, two optimization algorithms are proposed: Topology Generation using Discrete Firefly Algorithm (TGDFA) and Core Mapping using Discrete Firefly Algorithm (CMDFA) for multimedia benchmark applications,… More >

Abstract Robots in the medical industry are becoming more common in daily life because of various advantages such as quick response, less human interference, high dependability, improved hygiene, and reduced aging effects. That is why, in recent years, robotic aid has emerged as a blossoming solution to many challenges in the medical industry. In this manuscript, meta-heuristics (MH) algorithms, specifically the Firefly Algorithm (FF) and Genetic Algorithm (GA), are applied to tune PID controller constraints such as Proportional gain Kp Integral gain Ki and Derivative gain Kd. The controller is used to control Mobile Robot System… More >

A New Color Model for Fire Pixels Detection in PJF Color Space

Amal Ben Hamida1,*, Chokri Ben Amar2, Yasser Albagory2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.33, No.3, pp. 1607-1621, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.024939 - 24 March 2022

Abstract Since the number of fires in the world is rising rapidly, automatic fire detection is getting more and more interest in computer vision community. Instead of the usual inefficient sensors, captured videos by video surveillance cameras can be analyzed to quickly detect fires and prevent damages. This paper presents an early fire-alarm raising method based on image processing. The developed work is able to discriminate fire and non-fire pixels. Fire pixels are identified thanks to a rule-based color model built in the PJF color space. PJF is a newly designed color space that enables to… More >

    Álvaro Rodríguez-Peña1, Ana C. Gonzalez-Franco1, Jared Hernández-Huerta1, Nora A. Salas-Salazar1, Dámaris L. Ojeda-Barrios1, Esteban Sánchez2, Loreto Robles-Hernández1,*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.91, No.7, pp. 1341-1351, 2022, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2022.019728 - 14 March 2022

Abstract Antibiotics are widely used in fire blight management programs, yet there are no studies that demonstrate the evaluation of their efficacy in Mexico. Therefore, the present study was conducted to investigate the effects of the active ingredients in five commercial products (Kasumin® 2L, Agrygent Plus®, Agricultural Terramycin®, Agrimicin® 100, and Actigard®) on fire blight suppression, and fruit yield and quality of apple (Malus domestica Borkh.) cv. Golden Glory. The experiment was conducted in a commercial orchard using a completely randomized block design, with six treatments: (1) Oxytetracycline [Ox], 110 mg L−1; (2) Kasugamycin [Kas], 4.7 mL L−1; (3) Oxytetracycline + Gentamicin [Ox… More >

Arwa A. Mashat, Niayesh Gharaei*, Aliaa M. Alabdali

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.72, No.1, pp. 441-459, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.024131 - 24 February 2022

Abstract Compared with the traditional techniques of forest fires detection, wireless sensor network (WSN) is a very promising green technology in detecting efficiently the wildfires. However, the power constraint of sensor nodes is one of the main design limitations of WSNs, which leads to limited operation time of nodes and late fire detection. In the past years, wireless power transfer (WPT) technology has been known as a proper solution to prolong the operation time of sensor nodes. In WPT-based mechanisms, wireless mobile chargers (WMC) are utilized to recharge the batteries of sensor nodes wirelessly. Likewise, the… More >

Abstract Along with modernization in Indonesia, electricity users often do not realize that electrical energy is still used from electronic devices left on and unused. Much electrical energy is wasted due to unwise use. Modernization requires creative automation. This significantly minimizes the amount of human labor needed to complete the job. Energy efficiency is critical due to environmental concerns and limited research on alternative renewable energy sources. When evaluating the impact of technology on the environment, energy is an essential factor to consider. Most big cities and provinces in Indonesia still use conventional lighting systems where… More >
