    P. Rajeswari*, K. Jayashree

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.41, No.2, pp. 511-524, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.020352

Abstract Recent advancements in cloud computing (CC) technologies signified that several distinct web services are presently developed and exist at the cloud data centre. Currently, web service composition gains maximum attention among researchers due to its significance in real-time applications. Quality of Service (QoS) aware service composition concerned regarding the election of candidate services with the maximization of the whole QoS. But these models have failed to handle the uncertainties of QoS. The resulting QoS of composite service identified by the clients become unstable and subject to risks of failing composition by end-users. On the other hand, trip planning is an… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.31, No.3, pp. 1393-1403, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.020629

Abstract The detection of fires in surveillance videos are usually done by utilizing deep learning. In Spite of the advances in processing power, deep learning methods usually need extensive computations and require high memory resources. This leads to restriction in real time fire detection. In this research, we present a time-efficient fire detection convolutional neural network coupled with transfer learning for surveillance systems. The model utilizes CNN architecture with reasonable computational time that is deemed possible for real time applications. At the same time, the model will not compromise accuracy for time efficiency by tuning the model with respect to fire… More >

    R. Dayana1,*, G. Maria Kalavathy2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.31, No.3, pp. 1511-1528, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.020551

Abstract Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) become an integral part of Internet of Things (IoT) and finds their applicability in several domains. As classical WSN faces several issues in service-based IoT applications, fog computing has been introduced in real-time, enabling local data processing and avoid raw data transmission to cloud servers. The Fog-based WSN generally involves advanced nodes, normal nodes, and some Fog Nodes (FN). Though the Fog-based WSN offers several benefits, there is a need to develop an effective trust-based secure routing protocol for data transmission among Cluster Heads (CHs) and FNs. In this view, this paper presents a Quantum Firefly… More >

Multivariate Outlier Detection for Forest Fire Data Aggregation Accuracy

    Ahmad A. A. Alkhatib*, Qusai Abed-Al

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.31, No.2, pp. 1071-1087, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.020461

Abstract Wireless sensor networks have been a very important means in forest monitoring applications. A clustered sensor network comprises a set of cluster members and one cluster head. The cluster members are normally located close to each other, with overlaps among their sensing coverage within the cluster. The cluster members concurrently detect the same event to send to the Cluster Head node. This is where data aggregation is deployed to remove redundant data at the cost of data accuracy, where some data generated by the sensing process might be an outlier. Thus, it is important to conserve the aggregated data’s accuracy… More >

Using Image Processing Technology and General Fluid Mechanics Principles to Model Smoke Diffusion in Forest Fires

Liying Zhu*, Ang Wang, Fang Jin

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.17, No.6, pp. 1213-1222, 2021, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2021.017572

Abstract In the present study, the laws of smoke diffusion during forest fires are determined using the general principles of fluid mechanics and dedicated data obtained experimentally using an “ad hoc” imaging technology. Experimental images mimicking smoke in a real scenario are used to extract some “statistics”. These in turn are used to obtain the “divergence” of the flow (this fluid-dynamic parameter describing the amount of air that converges to a certain place from the surroundings or vice versa). The results show that the divergence of the smoke depends on the outside airflow and finally tends to zero as time passes.… More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.17, No.6, pp. 1077-1090, 2021, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2021.015779

Abstract In order to study the extinguishing performance of high-pressure-water-mist-based systems on the fires originating from power transformers the PyroSim software is used. Different particle velocities and flow rates are considered. The evolution laws of temperature around transformer, flue gas concentration and upper layer temperature of flue gas are analyzed under different boundary conditions. It is shown that the higher the particle velocity is, the lower the smoke concentration is, the better the cooling effect on the upper layer temperature of flue gas layer is, the larger the flow rate is and the better the cooling effect is. CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.1, pp. 305-321, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.019171

Abstract Location information plays an important role in most of the applications in Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). Recently, many localization techniques have been proposed, while most of these deals with two Dimensional applications. Whereas, in Three Dimensional applications the task is complex and there are large variations in the altitude levels. In these 3D environments, the sensors are placed in mountains for tracking and deployed in air for monitoring pollution level. For such applications, 2D localization models are not reliable. Due to this, the design of 3D localization systems in WSNs faces new challenges. In this paper, in order to find… More >

    K. Gayathri Devi*, R. S. Mishra, A. K. Madan

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.31, No.1, pp. 429-448, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.019330

Abstract An NP-hard problem like Flexible Job Shop Scheduling (FJSP) tends to be more complex and requires more computational effort to optimize the objectives with contradictory measures. This paper aims to address the FJSP problem with combined and contradictory objectives, like minimization of make-span, maximum workload, and total workload. This paper proposes ‘Hybrid Adaptive Firefly Algorithm’ (HAdFA), a new enhanced version of the classic Firefly Algorithm (FA) embedded with adaptive parameters to optimize the multi objectives concurrently. The proposed algorithm has adopted two adaptive strategies, i.e., an adaptive randomization parameter (α) and an effective heterogeneous update rule for fireflies. The adaptations… More >
