    Kuihua Huang1, Rui Li2, Wenyin Gong2,*, Weiwei Bian3, Rui Wang1

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.37, No.2, pp. 2077-2101, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.040215

Abstract This work aims to resolve the distributed heterogeneous permutation flow shop scheduling problem (DHPFSP) with minimizing makespan and total energy consumption (TEC). To solve this NP-hard problem, this work proposed a competitive and cooperative-based strength Pareto evolutionary algorithm (CCSPEA) which contains the following features: 1) An initialization based on three heuristic rules is developed to generate a population with great diversity and convergence. 2) A comprehensive metric combining convergence and diversity metrics is used to better represent the heuristic information of a solution. 3) A competitive selection is designed which divides the population into a winner and a loser swarms… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.37, No.1, pp. 1111-1127, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.034369

Abstract The purpose of this article is to propose Stability-based Energy-Efficient Link-State Hybrid Routing (S-ELHR), a low latency routing protocol that aims to provide a stable mechanism for routing in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). The S-ELHR protocol selects a number of network nodes to create a Connected Dominating Set (CDS) using a parameter known as the Stability Metric (SM). The SM considers the node’s energy usage, connectivity time, and node’s degree. Only the highest SM nodes are chosen to form CDS. Each node declares a Willingness to indicate that it is prepared to serve as a relay for its neighbors, by… More >

Muhammad Imran Khan Khalil1, Syed Adeel Ali Shah1, Izaz Ahmad Khan2, Mohammad Hijji3, Muhammad Shiraz4, Qaisar Shaheen5,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.3, pp. 6305-6322, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.038163

Abstract Data centers are being distributed worldwide by cloud service providers (CSPs) to save energy costs through efficient workload allocation strategies. Many CSPs are challenged by the significant rise in user demands due to their extensive energy consumption during workload processing. Numerous research studies have examined distinct operating cost mitigation techniques for geo-distributed data centers (DCs). However, operating cost savings during workload processing, which also considers string-matching techniques in geo-distributed DCs, remains unexplored. In this research, we propose a novel string matching-based geographical load balancing (SMGLB) technique to mitigate the operating cost of the geo-distributed DC. The primary goal of this… More >

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.6, pp. 2865-2879, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2023.027579

Abstract Black liquor is obtained as a by-product of the pulping process, which is used to convert biomass into pulp by removing lignin, hemicelluloses and other extractives from wood to free cellulose fibers. Lignin represents a major constituent in black liquor, with quantities varying from 20% to 30%, of which a very low share is used for manufacturing value-added products, while the rest is mainly burned for energy purposes, thus underestimating its great potential as a raw material. Therefore, it is essential to establish new isolation and extraction methods to increase lignin valorization in the development of bio-based chemicals. The aim… More > Graphic Abstract
