Abstract Exposure to sound, heat, and increased physical workload can change physiological parameters. This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of concomitant exposure to sound, heat, and physical workload changes on physiological parameters in controlled laboratory conditions. This experimental crosssectional study was conducted in 35 male university students with a mean age of 25.75 years and a mean BMI of 22.69 kg/m2 . Systolic and diastolic blood pressure and heart rate were measured after 15 min rest in the laboratory, 5 and 10 min after starting the experiment, and then after 20 min in controlled laboratory conditions in five combination… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.65, No.2, pp. 1809-1823, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.011404

Abstract The present study is concerned with the physical behavior of the combined effect of nano particle material motion and heat generation/absorption due to the effect of different parameters involved in prescribed flow model. The formulation of the flow model is based on basic universal equations of conservation of momentum, energy and mass. The prescribed flow model is converted to non-dimensional form by using suitable scaling. The obtained transformed equations are solved numerically by using finite difference scheme. For the analysis of above said behavior the computed numerical data for fluid velocity, temperature profile, and mass concentration for several constraints that… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.65, No.2, pp. 1237-1251, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.011492

Abstract Nowadays some new ideas of fractional derivatives have been used successfully in the present research community to study different types of mathematical models. Amongst them, the significant models of fluids and heat or mass transfer are on priority. Most recently a new idea of fractal-fractional derivative is introduced; however, it is not used for heat transfer in channel flow. In this article, we have studied this new idea of fractal fractional operators with power-law kernel for heat transfer in a fluid flow problem. More exactly, we have considered the free convection heat transfer for a Newtonian fluid. The flow is… More >

Second Law Analysis and Optimization of Elliptical Pin Fin Heat Sinks Using Firefly Algorithm

    Nawaf N. Hamadneh1, Waqar A. Khan2, Ilyas Khan3, *

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.65, No.2, pp. 1015-1032, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.011476

Abstract One of the most significant considerations in the design of a heat sink is thermal management due to increasing thermal flux and miniature in size. These heat sinks utilize plate or pin fins depending upon the required heat dissipation rate. They are designed to optimize overall performance. Elliptical pin fin heat sinks enhance heat transfer rates and reduce the pumping power. In this study, the Firefly Algorithm is implemented to optimize heat sinks with elliptical pin-fins. The pin-fins are arranged in an inline fashion. The natureinspired metaheuristic algorithm performs powerfully and efficiently in solving numerical global optimization problems. Based on… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.65, No.1, pp. 171-192, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.011397

Abstract Gold metallic nanoparticles are generally used within a lab as a tracer, to uncover on the presence of specific proteins or DNA in a sample, as well as for the recognition of various antibiotics. They are bio companionable and have properties to carry thermal energy to tumor cells by utilizing different clinical approaches. As the cancer cells are very smaller so for the infiltration, the properly sized nanoparticles have been injected in the blood. For this reason, gold nanoparticles are very effective. Keeping in mind the above applications, in the present work a generalized model of blood flow containing gold… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.65, No.1, pp. 109-123, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.011468

Abstract The present work emphasizes the significance of oscillatory mixed convection stratified fluid and heat transfer characteristics at different stations of non-conducting horizontally circular cylinder in the presence of thermally stratified medium. To remove the difficulties in illustrating the coupled PDE’s, the finite-difference scheme with efficient primitive-variable formulation is proposed to transform dimensionless equations. The numerical simulations of coupled non-dimensional equations are computed in terms velocity of fluid, temperature and magnetic field which are computed to examine the fluctuating components of skin friction, heat transfer and current density for various emerging parameters. The governing parameters namely, thermally stratification parameter More >

Abstract Every new generation of antennas is characterized by increased accuracy and faster transmission speeds. However, patch antennas have been known to damage human health. This type of antenna sends out electromagnetic waves that increase the temperature of the human head and prevent nerve strands from functioning properly. This paper examines the effect of the communication between the patch antenna and the brain on the head’s temperature by developing a hypothetical multi-input model that achieves more accurate results. These inputs are an individual’s blood and tissue, and the emission power of the antenna. These forces depend on the permeability and conductivity… More >
