A Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm Based Load Balancing Strategy for Health Monitoring Systems in Fog-Cloud

Hayder Makki Shakir, Jaber Karimpour*, Jafar Razmara

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.48, No.1, pp. 35-55, 2024, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.038545

Abstract As the volume of data and data-generating equipment in healthcare settings grows, so do issues like latency and inefficient processing inside health monitoring systems. The Internet of Things (IoT) has been used to create a wide variety of health monitoring systems. Most modern health monitoring solutions are based on cloud computing. However, large-scale deployment of latency-sensitive healthcare applications is hampered by the cloud’s design, which introduces significant delays during the processing of vast data volumes. By strategically positioning servers close to end users, fog computing mitigates latency issues and dramatically improves scaling on demand, resource accessibility, and security. In this… More >

Crashworthiness Design and Multi-Objective Optimization of Bionic Thin-Walled Hybrid Tube Structures

    Pingfan Li, Jiumei Xiao*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.139, No.1, pp. 999-1016, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.044059

Abstract Thin-walled structures are widely used in cars due to their lightweight construction and energy-absorbing properties. However, issues such as high initial stress and low energy-absorbing efficiency arise. This study proposes a novel energy-absorbing structure in which a straight tube is combined with a conical tube and a bamboo-inspired bulkhead structure is introduced. This configuration allows the conical tube to flip outward first and then fold together with the straight tube. This deformation mode absorbs more energy and less peak force than the conical tube sinking and flipping inward. Through finite element numerical simulation, the specific energy absorption capacity of the… More >

    Jiamin Xiang1, Ying Zhang1, Xiaohua Cao1,*, Zhigang Zhou2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.77, No.3, pp. 3443-3466, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.045120

Abstract This paper presents an improved hybrid algorithm and a multi-objective model to tackle the scheduling problem of multiple Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) under the composite operation mode. The multi-objective model aims to minimize the maximum completion time, the total distance covered by AGVs, and the distance traveled while empty-loaded. The improved hybrid algorithm combines the improved genetic algorithm (GA) and the simulated annealing algorithm (SA) to strengthen the local search ability of the algorithm and improve the stability of the calculation results. Based on the characteristics of the composite operation mode, the authors introduce the combined coding and parallel decoding… More >

Dazhi Wang*, Pengyi Pan, Bowen Niu

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.77, No.2, pp. 1535-1555, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.042286

Abstract The permanent magnet eddy current coupler (PMEC) solves the problem of flexible connection and speed regulation between the motor and the load and is widely used in electrical transmission systems. It provides torque to the load and generates heat and losses, reducing its energy transfer efficiency. This issue has become an obstacle for PMEC to develop toward a higher power. This paper aims to improve the overall performance of PMEC through multi-objective optimization methods. Firstly, a PMEC modeling method based on the Levenberg-Marquardt back propagation (LMBP) neural network is proposed, aiming at the characteristics of the complex input-output relationship and… More >

    Yunru Wu1, Xiangbo Liu1, Haibo Huang1,2,*, Yudong Wu1, Weiping Ding1,2, Mingliang Yang1,2,*

    Sound & Vibration, Vol.57, pp. 73-95, 2023, DOI:10.32604/sv.2023.044601

Abstract Vehicle interior noise has emerged as a crucial assessment criterion for automotive NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness). When analyzing the NVH performance of the vehicle body, the traditional SEA (Statistical Energy Analysis) simulation technology is usually limited by the accuracy of the material parameters obtained during the acoustic package modeling and the limitations of the application conditions. In order to effectively solve these shortcomings, based on the analysis of the vehicle noise transmission path, a multi-level objective decomposition architecture of the interior noise at the driver’s right ear is established. Combined with the data-driven method, the ResNet neural network model… More >

Abstract A second-generation fast Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm product shape multi-objective imagery optimization model based on degradation (DNSGA-II) strategy is proposed to make the product appearance optimization scheme meet the complex emotional needs of users for the product. First, the semantic differential method and K-Means cluster analysis are applied to extract the multi-objective imagery of users; then, the product multidimensional scale analysis is applied to classify the research objects, and again the reference samples are screened by the semantic differential method, and the samples are parametrized in two dimensions by using elliptic Fourier analysis; finally, the fuzzy dynamic evaluation function is… More >

    Huaixi Xing*, Qinghua Xing

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.76, No.3, pp. 2685-2705, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.036223

Abstract With the advancement of combat equipment technology and combat concepts, new requirements have been put forward for air defense operations during a group target attack. To achieve high-efficiency and low-loss defensive operations, a reasonable air defense weapon assignment strategy is a key step. In this paper, a multi-objective and multi-constraints weapon target assignment (WTA) model is established that aims to minimize the defensive resource loss, minimize total weapon consumption, and minimize the target residual effectiveness. An optimization framework of air defense weapon mission scheduling based on the multi-objective artificial bee colony (MOABC) algorithm is proposed. The solution for point-to-point saturated… More >

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.10, pp. 2287-2306, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.029140

Abstract The four-circuit parallel line on the same tower effectively solves the problems faced by the line reconstruction and construction under the condition of the increasing shortage of transmission corridors. Optimizing the conductor and phase sequence arrangement of multiple transmission lines is conducive to improving electromagnetic and electrostatic coupling caused by electromagnetic problems. This paper uses the ATP-EMTP simulation software to build a 500 kV multi-circuit transmission line on the same tower. It stimulates the induced voltage and current values of different line lengths, tower spacing, vertical and horizontal spacing between different circuits, phase sequence arrangement, and nominal tower height. Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) and XFoil tools are used for high and low-fidelity simulations of the airfoil to find the real objective function value. A special multi-objective sub-optimization problem is proposed for multiple points infill sampling exploration to improve the surrogate model constructed. To validate and further assess the proposed methods, a conventional surrogate-assisted optimization method and an infill sampling surrogate-assisted optimization criterion are applied with multi-fidelity simulation, while their… More > Graphic Abstract
