    Adel Hamdan Mohammad*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.30, No.1, pp. 65-80, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.016140

Abstract Intrusion detection is an important topic that aims at protecting computer systems. Besides, feature selection is crucial for increasing the performance of intrusion detection. This paper employs a new hybrid feature selection model for intrusion detection. The implemented model uses Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithms in a new manner. In addition, this study introduces two new models called (PSO-GWO-NB) and (PSO-GWO-ANN) for feature selection and intrusion detection. PSO and GWO show emergent results in feature selection for several purposes and applications. This paper uses PSO and GWO to select features for the intrusion detection system.… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.2, pp. 2159-2180, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.018752

Abstract Paths planning of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in a dynamic environment is considered a challenging task in autonomous flight control design. In this work, an efficient method based on a Multi-Objective Multi-Verse Optimization (MOMVO) algorithm is proposed and successfully applied to solve the path planning problem of quadrotors with moving obstacles. Such a path planning task is formulated as a multicriteria optimization problem under operational constraints. The proposed MOMVO-based planning approach aims to lead the drone to traverse the shortest path from the starting point and the target without collision with moving obstacles. The vehicle moves to the next position… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.29, No.3, pp. 729-740, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.018595

Abstract The energy harvested from a thermoelectric generator (TEG) relies mostly on the difference in temperature between the hot side and cold side of the TEG along with the connected load. Hence, a reliable maximum power point tracker is needed to force the TEG to operate close to the maximum power point (MPP) with any variation during the operation. In the current work, an optimized fractional maximum power point tracker (OFMPPT) is proposed to improve the performance of the TEG. The proposed tracker is based on fractional control. The optimal parameters of the OFMPPT have been determined using the grey wolf… More >

    Yu Xue1,2,*, Yiling Tong1, Ziming Yuan1, Shoubao Su2, Adam Slowik3, Sam Toglaw4

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.29, No.2, pp. 497-509, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.016884

Abstract Because of the characteristics of high redundancy, high parallelism and nonlinearity in the handwritten character recognition model, the convolutional neural networks (CNNs) are becoming the first choice to solve these complex problems. The complexity, the types of characters, the character similarity of the handwritten character dataset, and the choice of optimizers all have a great impact on the network model, resulting in low accuracy, high loss, and other problems. In view of the existence of these problems, an improved LeNet-5 model is proposed. Through increasing its convolutional layers and fully connected layers, higher quality features can be extracted. Secondly, a… More >

    Salah K. Elsayed1,*, Ahmed M. Agwa2,3, Mahmoud A. El-Dabbah2, Ehab E. Elattar1

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.28, No.3, pp. 639-651, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.016464

Abstract The problem of parameters identification for transformer equivalent circuit can be solved by optimizing a nonlinear formula. The objective function attempts to minimize the sum of squared relative errors amongst the accompanying calculated and actual points of currents, powers, and secondary voltage during the load test of the transformer subject to a set of parameters constraints. The authors of this paper propose applying a new and efficient stochastic optimizer called the slime mold optimization algorithm (SMOA) to identify parameters of the transformer equivalent circuit. The experimental measurements of load test of single- and three-phase transformers are entered to MATLAB code… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.2, pp. 2265-2282, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.017237

Abstract The research on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) has intensified considerably thanks to the recent growth in the fields of advanced automatic control, artificial intelligence, and miniaturization. In this paper, a Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) algorithm is proposed and successfully applied to tune all effective parameters of Fast Terminal Sliding Mode (FTSM) controllers for a quadrotor UAV. A full control scheme is first established to deal with the coupled and underactuated dynamics of the drone. Controllers for altitude, attitude, and position dynamics become separately designed and tuned. To work around the repetitive and time-consuming trial-error-based procedures, all FTSM controllers’ parameters for… More >

Abstract Body Area Networks (BODYNETs) or Wireless Body Area Networks (WBAN), being an important type of ad-hoc network, plays a vital role in multimedia, safety, and traffic management applications. In BODYNETs, rapid topology changes occur due to high node mobility, which affects the scalability of the network. Node clustering is one mechanism among many others, which is used to overcome this issue in BODYNETs. There are many clustering algorithms used in this domain to overcome this issue. However, these algorithms generate a large number of Cluster Heads (CHs), which results in scarce resource utilization and degraded performance. In this research, an… More >

Abstract Hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and other pollutants from the transportation sector harm human health in many ways. Fuel cell (FC) has been evolving rapidly over the past two decades due to its efficient mechanism to transform the chemical energy in hydrogen-rich compounds into electrical energy. The main drawback of the standalone FC is its slow dynamic response and its inability to supply rapid variations in the load demand. Therefore, adding energy storage systems is necessary. However, to manage and distribute the power-sharing among the hybrid proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell (FC), battery storage (BS), and supercapacitor (SC), an energy management… More >
