Subinterval Decomposition-Based Interval Importance Analysis Method

    Wenxuan Wang*, Xiaoyi Wang

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.124, No.3, pp. 985-1000, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.09006

Abstract The importance analysis method represents a powerful tool for quantifying the impact of input uncertainty on the output uncertainty. When an input variable is described by a specific interval rather than a certain probability distribution, the interval importance measure of input interval variable can be calculated by the traditional non-probabilistic importance analysis methods. Generally, the non-probabilistic importance analysis methods involve the Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) and the optimization-based methods, which both have high computational cost. In order to overcome this problem, this study proposes an interval important analytical method avoids the time-consuming optimization process. First, the original performance function is… More >

    Akram M. Radwana,b, Zehra Cataltepea,c

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.24, No.4, pp. 777-783, 2018, DOI:10.1080/10798587.2017.1337673

Abstract This paper proposes to apply machine learning techniques to predict students’ performance on two real-world educational data-sets. The first data-set is used to predict the response of students with autism while they learn a specific task, whereas the second one is used to predict students’ failure at a secondary school. The two data-sets suffer from two major problems that can negatively impact the ability of classification models to predict the correct label; class imbalance and class noise. A series of experiments have been carried out to improve the quality of training data, and hence improve prediction results. In this paper,… More >

Huanyu Zhao, Guoqiang Wang, Shuai Wang, Ruipeng Yang, He Tian, Qiushi Bi

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.24, No.3, pp. 581-592, 2018, DOI:10.31209/2018.100000025

Abstract Articulated tracked vehicles have high mobility and steering performance. The unique structure of articulated tracked vehicles can avoid the subsidence of tracks caused by high traction from instantaneous braking and steering. In order to improve the accuracy of the steady-state steering of the articulated tracked vehicle, the velocity of both sides of the track and the deflection angle of the articulated point need to match better to achieve the purpose of steering accurately and reduce energy consumption and wear of components. In this study, a virtual prototype model of the articulated tracked vehicle is established based on the multi-body dynamic… More >

Storage-based Control Loop for AGC to Mitigate the Tie-lines Power Excursion between Areas

Shengqi Zhang, Bei Yuan, Jianfeng Zhao

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.25, No.4, pp. 745-753, 2019, DOI:10.31209/2019.100000078

Abstract With the current trend of deregulation, more power exchange between GENCOs and DISCOs in different areas exists in the power system. To mitigate the unscheduled power exchange meets the common interests of GENCOs and DISCOs, and avoids the power over-loading on tie-lines. However, in the current control performance standards (CPS), frequency deviations have priority in the conventional automatic generation control (C-AGC). Thus, a storagebased tie-line control loop (STCL) on the basis of C-AGC (STCL-AGC) is proposed in this paper, which makes a better tradeoff in the recovery of the frequency deviations and the unscheduled power exchange. In STCL-AGC, utility-scaled battery… More >
