    Abstract Nipa palm is one of the non-wood plants rich in lignocellulosic content. In this study, palm fronds were converted into activated carbon, and their physical, chemical, and morphological properties were characterized. The resulting activated carbon was then applied as an adsorbent of Fe metal in peat water.     Abstract Convolutional neural networks continually evolve to enhance accuracy in addressing various problems, leading to an increase in computational cost and model size. This paper introduces a novel approach for pruning face recognition models based on convolutional neural networks. The proposed method identifies and removes inefficient filters based on the information volume in feature maps. In each layer, some feature maps lack useful information, and there exists a correlation between certain feature maps.     Numerical Study on the Effect of Vortex Generators on the Aerodynamic Drag of a High-Speed Train

    Abstract A relatively high aerodynamic drag is an important factor that hinders the further acceleration of high-speed trains. Using the shear stress transport (SST) k-ω turbulence model, the effect of various vortex generator types on the aerodynamic characteristics of an ICE2 (Inter-city Electricity) train has been investigated. The results indicate that the vortex generators with wider triangle, trapezoid, and micro-ramp arranged on the surface of the tail car can significantly change the distribution of surface pressure and affect the vorticity intensity in the wake.
