Wenlu Ji, Yong Wang*, Xing Deng, Ming Zhang, Ting Ye

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.5, pp. 1967-1983, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.020011

Abstract Virtual power plants can effectively integrate different types of distributed energy resources, which have become a new operation mode with substantial advantages such as high flexibility, adaptability, and economy. This paper proposes a distributionally robust optimal dispatch approach for virtual power plants to determine an optimal day-ahead dispatch under uncertainties of renewable energy sources. The proposed distributionally robust approach characterizes probability distributions of renewable power output by moments. In this regard, the faults of stochastic optimization and traditional robust optimization can be overcome. Firstly, a second-order cone-based ambiguity set that incorporates the first and second moments of renewable power output… More >

    Anas Quteishat1,2,*, M. A. A. Younis2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.2, pp. 2117-2134, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.029419

Abstract Renewable energy is created by renewable natural resources such as geothermal heat, sunlight, tides, rain, and wind. Energy resources are vital for all countries in terms of their economies and politics. As a result, selecting the optimal option for any country is critical in terms of energy investments. Every country is nowadays planning to increase the share of renewable energy in their universal energy sources as a result of global warming. In the present work, the authors suggest fuzzy multi-characteristic decision-making approaches for renewable energy source selection, and fuzzy set theory is a valuable methodology for dealing with uncertainty in… More >

Abstract In this work, we present a feasibility study for a new hybrid power plant (PV-Wind-Diesel-Storage) directly connected to the electrical grid. Several simulations are performed to verify the performance of the hybrid system under different scenarios using real meteorological data. It is shown that the performances of the hybrid system connected to the electrical network depend obviously on the available energy resources and constraints because the renewable energies are intermittent. In addition, the price of the kWh of electricity supplied by the hybrid system is determined, which amounts to $0.209/kWh, which is very cost effective and satisfactory for the considered… More > Graphic Abstract

Abstract Reestablishment in power system brings in significant transformation in the power sector by extinguishing the possession of sound consolidated assistance. However, the collaboration of various manufacturing agencies, autonomous power manufacturers, and buyers have created complex installation processes. The regular active load and inefficiency of best measures among varied associates is a huge hazard. Any sudden load deviation will give rise to immediate amendment in frequency and tie-line power errors. It is essential to deal with every zone’s frequency and tie-line power within permitted confines followed by fluctuations within the load. Therefore, it can be proficient by implementing Load Frequency Control… More >

An Optimized Algorithm for Renewable Energy Forecasting Based on Machine Learning

    Ziad M. Ali1,2,*, Ahmed M. Galal1,3, Salem Alkhalaf4, Imran Khan5

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.1, pp. 755-767, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.027568

Abstract The large-scale application of renewable energy power generation technology brings new challenges to the operation of traditional power grids and energy management on the load side. Microgrid can effectively solve this problem by using its regulation and flexibility, and is considered to be an ideal platform. The traditional method of computing total transfer capability is difficult due to the central integration of wind farms. As a result, the differential evolution extreme learning machine is offered as a data mining approach for extracting operating rules for the total transfer capability of tie-lines in wind-integrated power systems. K-medoids clustering under the two-dimensional… More >

Abstract Multi-port converters are considered as exceeding earlier period decade owing to function in a combination of different energy sources in a single processing unit. Renewable energy sources are playing a significant role in the modern energy system with rapid development. In renewable sources like fuel combustion and solar energy, the generated voltages change due to their environmental changes. To develop energy resources, electric power generation involved huge awareness. The power and output voltages are plays important role in our work but it not considered in the existing system. For considering the power and voltage, Gaussian PI Controller-Maxpooling Deep Convolutional Neural… More >

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.4, pp. 1261-1298, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.018913

Abstract This paper proposes a vehicle-to-grid (V2G) system interfaced with a microgrid that is effective at regulating frequency on a microgrid over a 24-h cycle. A microgrid is designed and divided into four components. The first component is a diesel generator, which is used to act as the base power generator. The second component consists of renewable energy (RE) power plants, which include solar photovoltaic (PV) and wind plants. The third component is a V2G system. The last component is the load connected to the microgrid. A microgrid is designed to be of sufficient size to represent a community of one… More > Graphic Abstract

Control and Automation of Hybrid Renewable Energy Harvesting System

    R. S. Jothilakshmi*, S. Chitra Selvi

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.34, No.2, pp. 865-876, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.025643

Abstract The hybrid renewable energy harvesting and grid integration system has been proposed and validated in this work. The proposed system uses a Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS) and a Solar Photo Voltaic Energy Conversion System (SPVECS). The WECS uses Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG) driven by a wind turbine. The variable frequency and variable voltage output of PMSG is rectified by Diode Bridge Rectifier (DBR) and stepped up by Super Lift Luo Converter (SLLC 1), and finally, the harvested wind energy is delivered to the Direct Current (DC) link of a Distributed Static Synchronous Compensator (DSTATCOM). Further, SPV energy is… More >
