Rodolfo J. González-Paz, Gerard Lligadas*, Juan C. Ronda, Marina Galià, Virginia Cádiz

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.1, No.3, pp. 187-194, 2013, DOI:10.7569/JRM.2013.634114

Abstract A thiol-reactive linear polyurethane was synthesized from a vinyl-sulphide-containing diol and a commercial diisocyanate. The diol was obtained from 10-undecynol, an alkyne-derivatized fatty compound, using hydrothiolation as a key reaction step. 10-Undecynol was prepared by reduction of 10-undecinoic acid methyl ester, which was prepared by successive bromation, dehydrobromination of the corresponding alkenic fatty acid. Solution and surface polymer modifi cation with a fl uorescent thiol was successful. More >

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.3, No.2, pp. 120-141, 2015, DOI:10.7569/JRM.2014.634139

Abstract Novel copolyesters were successfully synthesized from terephthalic acid (TPA), 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA) and ethylene glycol, 1,3-propanediol, 1,4-butanediol, 1,6-hexanediol and 1,8-octanediol via direct esterifi cation method by using tetrabutyl titanate (TBT) as catalyst. The copolyesters were characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1 H-NMR), gel permeation chromatography (GPC), X-ray diffraction (XRD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and tensile tests. The results of GPC showed that all of the copolyesters had high molecular weight, with an average molecular weight (Mw) more than 1×104 g/mol. The results of 1 H-NMR showed that the copolyesters were random copolymers which compositions were well… More >

A Decision-Based Hybrid Proxy Mobile IPv6 Scheme for Better Resources Utilization

    Habib Ullah Khan1,*, Anwar Hussain2, Shah Nazir2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.3, pp. 5151-5167, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.030837

Abstract Seamless mobility is always one of the major requirements of modern-day communication. In a heterogeneous and massive IoT environment, efficient network-based mobility protocol such as proxy mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6), is potentially a good candidate for efficient mobility as well as resource utilization efficiency. Several extensions are devised for performance in the research domain. However, a multi-criterion decision-based resource-efficient PMIPv6 extension is required to achieve efficiency when network resources are overloaded. In this research, a multi-criterion decision-based PMIPv6 scheme is devised that provides better performance when the Local Mobility Anchor (LMA) or Mobile Access Gateway (MAG) is overloaded. The objective is… More >

Investigating the Effects of the Driving Cycle and Penetration of Electric Vehicles on Technical and Environmental Characteristics of the Hybrid Energy System Considering Uncertainties

    Jiusong Chen1,*, Dejun Miao1, Yizong Dai1, Mojtaba Ghadamyari2,*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.5, pp. 1985-2003, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.021142

Abstract Electric vehicles (EVs) have received special consideration from modern society over the past several years. Although EVs are a fine example of environmentally friendly technology and have many advantages, they relatively increase the electricity demand upon a power grid as well. Therefore, their negative impact on busvoltage and line losses should be analyzed. In this study, the effect of EV loads and their penetration on bus voltage and line losses of an IEEE-33 bussystem has been examined via two scenarios. It is important to mention that the effect of EVs on the rate of air pollution, produced by fossil fuel… More >

Optimal Intelligent Reconfiguration of Distribution Network in the Presence of Distributed Generation and Storage System

    Gang Lei1,*, Chunxiang Xu2

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.5, pp. 2005-2029, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.021154

Abstract In the present paper, the distribution feeder reconfiguration in the presence of distributed generation resources (DGR) and energy storage systems (ESS) is solved in the dynamic form. Since studies on the reconfiguration problem have ignored the grid security and reliability, the non-distributed energy index along with the energy loss and voltage stability indices has been assumed as the objective functions of the given problem. To achieve the mentioned benefits, there are several practical plans in the distribution network. One of these applications is the network rearrangement plan, which is the simplest and least expensive way to add equipment to the… More >

Randomized MILP framework for Securing Virtual Machines from Malware Attacks

    R. Mangalagowri1,*, Revathi Venkataraman2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.2, pp. 1565-1580, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.026360

Abstract Cloud computing involves remote server deployments with public network infrastructures that allow clients to access computational resources. Virtual Machines (VMs) are supplied on requests and launched without interactions from service providers. Intruders can target these servers and establish malicious connections on VMs for carrying out attacks on other clustered VMs. The existing system has issues with execution time and false-positive rates. Hence, the overall system performance is degraded considerably. The proposed approach is designed to eliminate Cross-VM side attacks and VM escape and hide the server’s position so that the opponent cannot track the target server beyond a certain point.… More >

Neighborhood Disadvantage and Self-Esteem—Do Socioeconomic and Relational Resources Matter?

    Joongbaeck Kim1, Manacy Pai2,*

    International Journal of Mental Health Promotion, Vol.24, No.3, pp. 311-329, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ijmhp.2022.017555

Abstract Extensive research suggests that living in a socioeconomically disadvantaged neighborhood is associated with poor mental health. Few studies, however, have examined (1) whether neighborhood disadvantage is associated with residents’ self-esteem; and (2) the extent to which individual-level socioeconomic resources such as income and education, and relational resources such as marriage and social support moderate the association between neighborhood disadvantage and self-esteem. This study employs data from the Americans’ Changing Lives panel survey (hereafter ACL), a 15-year panel study of the U.S. adult population ages 25 and older in original sample. Because hierarchical linear model was employed to analyze data, findings… More >

Abstract The grid environment is a dynamic, heterogeneous, and changeable computing system that distributes various services amongst different clients. To attain the benefits of collaborative resource sharing in Grid computing, a novel and proficient grid resource management system (RMS) is essential. Therefore, detection of an appropriate resource for the presented task is a difficult task. Several scientists have presented algorithms for mapping tasks to the resource. Few of them focus on fault tolerance, user fulfillment, and load balancing. With this motivation, this study designs an intelligent grid scheduling scheme using deer hunting optimization algorithm (DHOA), called IGSS-DHOA which schedules in such… More >
