    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.90, No.1, pp. 75-86, 2021, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2020.010597

Abstract Most damaging plant diseases have been caused by viruses in the entire world. In tropical and subtropical areas, the damage caused by plant virus leads to great economic and agricultural losses. Single stranded DNA viruses (geminiviruses) are the most perilous pathogens which are responsible for major diseases in agronomic and horticultural crops. Significantly begomoviruses and mastreviruses are the biggest genus of plant infecting viruses, transmitted though Bemisia tabaci and members of Cicadellidae respectively. Plants possesses some naturally existing chemicals term as phyto-chemicals which perform important functions in the plant. Some antioxidant enzymes are used by plants for self-defense upon foreign… More >

Severe Right Ventricular Dysplasia with Absent Pulmonary Valve Syndrome and Tricuspid Atresia: A Literature Review

    Kinjal Parikh1,2,*, Juan Carlos Muniz1,2, Elizabeth Welch1,2, Abdul Aldousany1,3, Nao Sasaki1,2

    Congenital Heart Disease, Vol.15, No.5, pp. 339-346, 2020, DOI:10.32604/CHD.2020.012910

Abstract This is a newborn male prenatally diagnosed with severe right ventricular (RV) hypertrophy and depressed function, aneurysmal dilation of the main pulmonary artery and tachyarrhythmia. Postnatally, he required immediate intubation and inotropic support. Echocardiogram revealed a large dysplastic RV, absent pulmonary valve syndrome (APVS), markedly dilated pulmonary arteries and tricuspid atresia (TA). The trabecular portion of the RV was excessively trabeculated and severely dilated. Inflow and infundibular walls were thin, with multiple infundibular aneurysms. There was APVS with free regurgitation and massively dilated pulmonary arteries. The RV bulged into the LV, though there was no outflow tract obstruction. The LV… More >

    BIOCELL, Vol.44, No.3, pp. 269-278, 2020, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2020.09627

Abstract Chili (Capsicum annuum L.) is the popular spicy vegetable crops belonging to family Solanaceae. Chili peppers are known for their pungency characteristic due to the presence of capsaicinoids that classifies them into hot or sweet pepper. Chili is used as spices, folk remedies for diseases, vegetables, and coloring agent showing a diverse role in human’s life. However, its production is hampered by different biotic stress and abiotic factors. Similarly, the unavailability of high yielding varieties, high temperature, and disease incidence, particularly, anthracnose disease, are the major constraints responsible for the low production of chili pepper. The advents of molecular markers,… More >

Abstract In the area of pattern recognition and machine learning, features play a key role in prediction. The famous applications of features are medical imaging, image classification, and name a few more. With the exponential growth of information investments in medical data repositories and health service provision, medical institutions are collecting large volumes of data. These data repositories contain details information essential to support medical diagnostic decisions and also improve patient care quality. On the other hand, this growth also made it difficult to comprehend and utilize data for various purposes. The results of imaging data can become biased because of… More >

A Narrative Review: Classification of Pap Smear Cell Image for Cervical Cancer Diagnosis

Wan Azani Mustafa1,*, Afiqah Halim1, Khairul Shakir Ab Rahman2

    Oncologie, Vol.22, No.2, pp. 53-63, 2020, DOI:10.32604/oncologie.2020.013660

Abstract Cervical cancer develops as cells transformation in the cervix of a female that connects the uterus to the vagina. This cancer may impact the columnal epithelial cells of the cervix and therefore can be expanded to the lymphatic and circulatory system (metastasize), sometimes the kidneys, liver, prostate, vagina, and rectum. Many of the cervical cancer patients survived by taking early prevention by undergoing a Pap Smear Test. However, the result of the test usually takes a few weeks which is extremely time-consuming especially at the government hospital. The purpose of this research was to study the detection and classification method… More >

Application Layer Scheduling in Cloud: Fundamentals, Review and Research Directions

    Vaibhav Pandey, Poonam Saini

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.34, No.6, pp. 357-376, 2019, DOI:10.32604/csse.2019.34.357

Abstract The cloud computing paradigm facilitates a finite pool of on-demand virtualized resources on a pay-per-use basis. For large-scale heterogeneous distributed systems like a cloud, scheduling is an essential component of resource management at the application layer as well as at the virtualization layer in order to deliver the optimal Quality of Services (QoS). The cloud scheduling, in general, is an NP-hard problem due to large solution space, thus, it is difficult to find an optimal solution within a reasonable time. In application layer scheduling, the tasks are mapped to logical resources (i.e., virtual machines), aiming to optimize one or more… More >
