Abstract Recently, a trust system was introduced to enhance security and cooperation between nodes in wireless sensor networks (WSN). In routing, the trust system includes or avoids nodes related to the estimated trust values in the routing function. This article introduces Enhanced Metaheuristics with Trust Aware Secure Route Selection Protocol (EMTA-SRSP) for WSN. The presented EMTA-SRSP technique majorly involves the optimal selection of routes in WSN. To accomplish this, the EMTA-SRSP technique involves the design of an oppositional Aquila optimization algorithm to choose safe routes for data communication. For the clustering process, the nodes with maximum More >

Cooperative Channel and Optimized Route Selection in Adhoc Network

    D. Manohari1,*, M. S. Kavitha2, K. Periyakaruppan3, B. Chellapraba4

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.2, pp. 1547-1560, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.030540

Abstract Over the last decade, mobile Adhoc networks have expanded dramatically in popularity, and their impact on the communication sector on a variety of levels is enormous. Its uses have expanded in lockstep with its growth. Due to its instability in usage and the fact that numerous nodes communicate data concurrently, adequate channel and forwarder selection is essential. In this proposed design for a Cognitive Radio Cognitive Network (CRCN), we gain the confidence of each forwarding node by contacting one-hop and second level nodes, obtaining reports from them, and selecting the forwarder appropriately with the use… More >

Metaheuristics-based Clustering with Routing Technique for Lifetime Maximization in Vehicular Networks

    P. Muthukrishnan*, P. Muthu Kannan

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.1, pp. 1107-1122, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.031962

Abstract Recently, vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) finds applicability in different domains such as security, rescue operations, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), etc. VANET has unique features like high mobility, limited mobility patterns, adequate topology modifications, and wireless communication. Despite the benefits of VANET, scalability is a challenging issue which could be addressed by the use of cluster-based routing techniques. It enables the vehicles to perform intercluster communication via chosen CHs and optimal routes. The main drawback of VANET network is the network unsteadiness that results in minimum lifetime. In order to avoid reduced network lifetime in… More >

FSE2R: An Improved Collision-Avoidance-based Energy Efficient Route Selection Protocol in USN

    Prasant Ku. Dash1, Lopamudra Hota2, Madhumita Panda3, N. Z. Jhanjhi4,*, Kshira Sagar Sahoo5, Mehedi Masud6

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.44, No.3, pp. 2225-2242, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.024836

Abstract The 3D Underwater Sensor Network (USNs) has become the most optimistic medium for tracking and monitoring underwater environment. Energy and collision are two most critical factors in USNs for both sparse and dense regions. Due to harsh ocean environment, it is a challenge to design a reliable energy efficient with collision free protocol. Diversity in link qualities may cause collision and frequent communication lead to energy loss; that effects the network performance. To overcome these challenges a novel protocol Forwarder Selection Energy Efficient Routing (FSE2R) is proposed. Our proposal’s key idea is based on computation More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.1, pp. 367-380, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.027076

Abstract Wireless sensor network (WSN) plays a vital part in real time tracking and data collection applications. WSN incorporates a set of numerous sensor nodes (SNs) commonly utilized to observe the target region. The SNs operate using an inbuilt battery and it is not easier to replace or charge it. Therefore, proper utilization of available energy in the SNs is essential to prolong the lifetime of the WSN. In this study, an effective Type-II Fuzzy Logic with Butterfly Optimization Based Route Selection (TFL-BOARS) has been developed for clustered WSN. The TFL-BOARS technique intends to optimally select… More >

Secured Route Selection Using E-ACO in Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks

    S. Premkumar Deepak*, M. B. Mukeshkrishnan

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.32, No.2, pp. 963-978, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.022126

Abstract Underwater wireless sensor networks (UWSNs) are promising, emerging technologies for the applications in oceanic research. UWSN contains high number of sensor nodes and autonomous underwater vehicles that are deployed to perform the data transmission in the sea. In UWSN networks, the sensors are placed in the buoyant which are highly vulnerable to selfish behavioural attack. In this paper, the major challenges in finding secure and optimal route navigation in UWSN are identified and in order to address them, Entropy based ACO algorithm (E-ACO) is proposed for secure route selection. Moreover, the Selfish Node Recovery (SNR) More >
