    Abstract Salinity stress is a major threat to global food production and its intensity is continuously increasing because of anthropogenic activities. Wheat is a staple food and a source of carbohydrates and calories for the majority of people across the globe.     Abstract Salinity is a serious challenge for agriculture production by limiting the arable land. Rice is a major staple food crop but very sensitive to salt stress. In this study, we used Arabidopsis for the functional characterization of a rice F-box gene LOC_Os04g48270 (OsPP12-A13) under salinity stress. OsPP12-A13 is a nuclear-localized protein that is strongly upregulated under salinity stress in rice and showed the highest expression in the stem, followed by roots and leaves.     Abstract Seeds of three Saudi pearl millet cultivars (Pennisetum spicatum) from three regions (Madinah, Khulais and Jaizan) were inoculated with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus Glomus mosseae obtained from the Agriculture Research Center of Giza, Egypt to enhance their salt tolerance. Five different NaCl concentrations (0, 30, 60, 90, and 120 mM) were used for treating cultivars with and without mycorrhiza. Growth rates, chlorophyll content, chlorophyll fluorescence (Fv/Fm), proline content and gas exchange were measured to determine the effect of salinity on these cultivars.     Abstract The mechanism of selenium (Se)-induced salt tolerance was studied in moderately sensitive soybean (Glycine max L.) plants. To execute this view, soybean plants were imposed with salt stress (EC 6 dS m−1 ) applying NaCl. In other treatments, Se (0, 25, 50 and 75 µM Na2SeO4) was sprayed as co-application with that level of salt stress.
