A Storage Optimization Scheme for Blockchain Transaction Databases

    Jingyu Zhang1,2, Siqi Zhong1, Jin Wang1,3, Xiaofeng Yu4,*, Osama Alfarraj5

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.36, No.3, pp. 521-535, 2021, DOI:10.32604/csse.2021.014530

Abstract As the typical peer-to-peer distributed networks, blockchain systems require each node to copy a complete transaction database, so as to ensure new transactions can by verified independently. In a blockchain system (e.g., bitcoin system), the node does not rely on any central organization, and every node keeps an entire copy of the transaction database. However, this feature determines that the size of blockchain transaction database is growing rapidly. Therefore, with the continuous system operations, the node memory also needs to be expanded to support the system running. Especially in the big data era, the increasing network traffic will lead to… More >

Enhanced Thermal Performance of Roofing Materials by Integrating Phase Change Materials to Reduce Energy Consumption in Buildings

    Chanita Mano, Atthakorn Thongtha*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.9, No.3, pp. 495-506, 2021, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2021.013201

Abstract This work focused on characterizing and improving the thermal behavior of metal sheet roofing. To decrease the heat transfer from the roof into a building, we investigated the efficiency of four types of phase change materials, with different melting points: PCM І, PCM II, PCM III and PCM IV, when used in conjunction with a sheet metal roof. The exterior metal roofing surface temperature was held constant at 50°C, 60°C, 70°C and 80°C, using a thermal source (halogen lights) for 360 min to investigate and compare the thermal performance of the metal sheet roofing with and without phase change materials… More >

Data Security Storage Model of the Internet of Things Based on Blockchain

    Pingshui Wang1,2,*, Willy Susilo2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.36, No.1, pp. 213-224, 2021, DOI:10.32604/csse.2021.014541

Abstract With the development of information technology, the Internet of Things (IoT) has gradually become the third wave of the worldwide information industry revolution after the computer and the Internet. The application of the IoT has brought great convenience to people’s production and life. However, the potential information security problems in various IoT applications are gradually exposed and people pay more attention to them. The traditional centralized data storage and management model of the IoT is easy to cause transmission delay, single point of failure, privacy disclosure and other problems, and eventually leads to unpredictable behavior of the system. Blockchain technology… More >

Fuzzy Adaptive Filtering-Based Energy Management for Hybrid Energy Storage System

    Xizheng Zhang1,2,*, Zhangyu Lu1, Chongzhuo Tan1, Zeyu Wang1

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.36, No.1, pp. 117-130, 2021, DOI:10.32604/csse.2021.014081

Abstract Regarding the problem of the short driving distance of pure electric vehicles, a battery, super-capacitor, and DC/DC converter are combined to form a hybrid energy storage system (HESS). A fuzzy adaptive filtering-based energy management strategy (FAFBEMS) is proposed to allocate the required power of the vehicle. Firstly, the state of charge (SOC) of the super-capacitor is limited according to the driving/braking mode of the vehicle to ensure that it is in a suitable working state, and fuzzy rules are designed to adaptively adjust the filtering time constant, to realize reasonable power allocation. Then, the positive and negative power are determined,… More >

Chilling Injury, Physicochemical Properties, and Antioxidant Enzyme Activities of Red Pitahaya (Hylocereus polyrhizus) Fruits under Cold Storage Stress

    Kai Sheng1, Saichao Wei1, Jun Mei1,2,3,4,*, Jing Xie1,2,3,4,*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.90, No.1, pp. 291-305, 2021, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2020.012985

Abstract Low-temperature storage is extensively used to optimize the postharvest life of various fresh fruits. However, red pitahaya (Hylocereus polyrhizus) fruits are sensitive to chilling injury (CI), which leads to the limitation of low-temperature storage. In this study, red pitahaya fruits were stored at 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10°C, respectively, for 27 days to determine the appropriate storage temperature. During the storage of red pitahaya fruits, storage at 8°C was more effective in suppressing decay and maintaining quality than other low temperatures. Low-temperature (2, 4, and 6°C) storage decreased weight loss (WL) and maintained higher content of titratable acidity (TA),… More >

Secure and Efficient Data Storage and Sharing Scheme Based on Double Blockchain

    Lejun Zhang1,2,*, Minghui Peng1, Weizheng Wang3 , Yansen Su4, Shuna Cui5,6, Seokhoon Kim7

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.1, pp. 499-515, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.012205

Abstract In the digital era, electronic medical record (EMR) has been a major way for hospitals to store patients’ medical data. The traditional centralized medical system and semi-trusted cloud storage are difficult to achieve dynamic balance between privacy protection and data sharing. The storage capacity of blockchain is limited and single blockchain schemes have poor scalability and low throughput. To address these issues, we propose a secure and efficient medical data storage and sharing scheme based on double blockchain. In our scheme, we encrypt the original EMR and store it in the cloud. The storage blockchain stores the index of the… More >
