    Journal of Polymer Materials, Vol.37, No.3-4, pp. 121-130, 2020, DOI:10.32381/JPM.2020.37.3-4.1

Abstract The mechanical properties of hybrid nanocomposites made of epoxy/glass fibre dispersed with nano-α-Al2 O3 powder at different weight percentages were studied. The effect of nano-α- Al2O3 size and wt% on mechanical properties like tensile, flexural, interlaminar shear stress and hardness enhanced because of their higher surface area and interfacial polymer-metal interaction. The nanoparticle embedded laminates have shown improvement in flexural strength, and hardness when compared to laminate without nano-α-Al2 O3. The properties varied with the loading and size of the nanoparticles. The tensile strength was highest for 0.5 wt% of 200nm nano-α-Al2O3, which is 167.80 N/m2.The highest flexural strength was observed for… More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.16, pp. 1-12, 2021, DOI:10.5098/hmt.16.13

Abstract Drag reduction (DR) by the additive of mixed surfactant and polymer is investigated in detail in a rotating disk apparatus (RDA). Polyethylene oxide (PEO) and Cetyltrimethyl ammonium chloride (CTAC)/sodium salicylate (NaSal) are chosen as polymer and surfactant, respectively. It is investigated on the influence of combination concentration of polymer & surfactant, temperature and Reynolds number on the drag-reducing rate. The present experimental results show that the drag-reducing rate of the mixed solution is definitely higher than that of the pure PEO or CTAC/NaSal solutions. This phenomenon is especially sharp at the high temperature and/or the large Reynolds number. When the… More >

    Oncology Research, Vol.30, No.2, pp. 53-64, 2022, DOI:10.32604/or.2022.026302

Abstract Previous studies have shown that PRDX5 and Nrf2 are antioxidant proteins related to abnormal reactive oxidative species (ROS). PRDX5 and Nrf2 play a critical role in the progression of inflammations and tumors. The combination of PRDX5 and Nrf2 was examined by Co-immunoprecipitation, western blotting and Immunohistochemistry. H2O2 was applied to affect the production of ROS and induced multi-resistant protein 1 (MRP1) expression in NSCLC cells. The zebrafish models mainly investigated the synergistic effects of PRDX5 and Nrf2 on lung cancer drug resistance under oxidative stress. We showed that PRDX5 and Nrf2 form a complex and significantly increase the NSCLC tissues… More >

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.12, pp. 3119-3130, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.019576

Abstract To enhance the thermal stability and flame retardancy of epoxy resin (EP), beta-cyclodextrin (β-CD) is successfully introduced into the layered tin phenylphosphonate (SnPP), which is incorporated into EP matrix for preparing EP/β-CD@SnPP composites. The results indicate that the addition of β-CD@SnPP obviously improve the thermal stability and residual yield of EP composites at higher temperature. When the amount of β-CD@SnPP is only 4 wt%, EP/4β-CD@SnPP composites pass V-1 rating, and LOI value is up to 30.8%. Meanwhile, β- CD@SnPP effectively suppress the heat release and reduce the smoke production of EP/β-CD@SnPP composites in combustion, and the peak heat release rate… More >
