Abstract Hevea brasiliensis is one of the important economic trees with a great economic value for natural rubber production. Symbiosis between roots of H. brasiliensis and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) is widely recognized, and can provide a range of benefits for both of them. Hainan Island harbors is one of the largest plantations of H. brasiliensis in China, whereas the information regarding the diversity of AMF in the rhizosphere of H. brasiliensis on this island is scarce. The diversity of AMF species in the rhizosphere of rubber tree plantations in Hainan was investigated in this study. A total of 72 soil… More >

Advances in Cotton Tolerance to Heavy Metal Stress and Applications to Remediate Heavy Metal-Contaminated Farmland Soil

Ling Li*, Xuyu Yan, Juan Li, Yashan Tian, Pan Ren

Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/phyton.2021.012276

Abstract Heavy metal-contaminated soil is one of the major environmental pollution problems of agricultural production and human health in the world. Remediation of heavy metals in soil is one of the most popular research subjects. Different remediation strategies have been reported to remove heavy metals from contaminated soil, among which phytoremediation is the most important one. Compared with other major crops, cotton shows the strongest and most widespread resistance to abiotic stresses, such as heavy metals. Although heavy metal stress adversely affects the growth and development of cotton, cotton possesses a set of sophisticated stress-resistance strategies. As the main product of… More >

Effect of Post-Added Water Amount on Pre-Concentrated Bark Foaming Materials by Mechanical Stirring

    Jinxing Li1,#, Jingjing Liao1,#, Jun Zhang1, Xiaojian Zhou1,2,*, Hisham Essawy3, Guanben Du1,2

Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/jrm.2020.013976

Abstract In this study, pre-concentrated bark, furfuryl alcohol and other biomass raw materials were used to prepare foaming materials by high-speed mechanical stirring without using a foaming agent. We investigated the effect of the postadded water amount on the properties of foaming materials. In particular, we determined basic physical properties of these materials, including the limiting oxygen index (LOI), porosity, thermal conductivity, thermogravimetric analysis, pore size distribution, and microstructure. The results of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) indicated that the pore size distribution was uniform and the pore size increased with increasing water volume. Thermogravimetric analysis (TG/ DTG) showed that when the… More >

    D. Menaga1, M. Premkumar2, R. Sowmya1,*, S. Narasimman3

    Energy Engineering, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/EE.2020.013282

Abstract The proposed controller accompanies with different sliding surfaces. To understand maximum power point extraction as opposed to nonlinear uncertainties and unknown disturbance of a grid-connected photovoltaic system to various control inputs (ud, uq) is designed. To extract maximum power from a solar array and maintain unity power flow in a grid by controlling the voltage across the dclink capacitor (Vpvdc) and reactive current (iq). A multiple input-output with multiple uncertainty constraints have considered designing proposed sliding mode controllers to validated their robustness performance. An innovative controller verifies uncertain inputs, constant and changes in irradiances, and temperature of the photo-voltaic system.… More >

    Weiwen Kong1, Baowei Wang1,2,3,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.012818

Abstract Internet of Things (IoT) is a network that connects things in a special union. It embeds a physical entity through an intelligent perception system to obtain information about the component at any time. It connects various objects. IoT has the ability of information transmission, information perception, andinformationprocessing.Theairqualityforecastinghasalways been an urgent problem, which affects people’s quality of life seriously. So far, many air quality prediction algorithms have been proposed, which can be mainly classifed into two categories. One is regression-based prediction, the other is deep learning-based prediction. Regression-based prediction is aimed to make use of the classical regression algorithm and the various… More >

Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/jrm.2020.012031

Abstract Based on the LOM (Laminated Object Manufacturing) process, an inert gas-assisted laser method for wood cutting was proposed. The carbonization degree of wood surface was improved by the introduction of helium (He) gas, and the influence of process parameters on the carbonization layer of wood surface was solved, it was significance to reduce the post-processing of LOM and improve the quality of forming workpiece. The cherry wood veneer was used as the experimental material, under the condition of the same process parameters, the wood was cut with or without inert gas-assisted, and the influence factors of kerf quality were studied… More >

    Ting Zang1, Dongbin Zhu2,*, Guowang Mu1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.09965

Abstract According to the requirement of heterogeneous object modeling in additive manufacturing (AM), the Non-Uniform Rational B-Spline (NURBS) method has been applied to the digital representation of heterogeneous object in this paper. By putting forward the NURBS material data structure and establishing heterogeneous NURBS object model, the accurate mathematical unified representation of analytical and free heterogeneous objects have been realized. With the inverse modeling of heterogeneous NURBS objects, the geometry and material distribution can be better designed to meet the actual needs. Radical Basis Function (RBF) method based on global surface reconstruction and the tensor product surface interpolation method are combined… More >

    Yuan Zhang1, Ping Li1, Yiqiang Wu1,2, Guangming Yuan1,2, Xianjun Li1,2, Yingfeng Zuo1,2,*

Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol., , DOI:10.32604/jrm.2020.011788

Abstract The Chinese fir wood was impregnated using a cyclic increasingpressure method (CIPM) with phenolic prepolymers as the impregnating modifier. Unmodified Chinese fir and progressive increasing-pressure method (PIPM) impregnated Chinese fir were used as reference samples and were compared and analyzed. The product’s chemical structure, internal morphology, crystal structure, and heat resistance were characterized. The transversal and longitudinal sections showed better filling effects, so that it bore greater external loading and reduced the water storage space. CIPM infused more phenolic prepolymer into the Chinese fir. Not only producing more physical filling but also forming more hydrogen bond associations and chemical bond… More >
