    Post-hypospadias urethrocutaneous fistulae: no difference in repair success between proximal and distal fistulae

    Abstract Introduction: Urethrocutaneous fistulae are the most common complication after hypospadias repair. We sought to compare outcomes of proximal versus distal urethrocutaneous fistula repair and hypothesized that patients with proximal fistulae would have lower rates of success than those with distal fistulae. We also aimed to evaluate factors that affected these outcomes.

    Abstract This study conducts pore-scale simulations and experiments to estimate the permeability of two different types of porous materials: metal foams and sintered copper particles with porosities of approximately 0.9 and 0.4, respectively. The integration of micro X-ray computed tomography with pore-scale computational fluid dynamics simulations develops a unique tool to capture the pore-scale geometry of porous media and accurately predict non-isotropic permeability of porous media.     Abstract Emerging evidence has demonstrated that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) mediate the development of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) via various pathophysiological pathways.     Abstract Despite the considerable knowledge on the involvement of microRNA-101 (miR-101) in the evolution of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), the underlying mechanisms remain obscure. In this study, miR-101 expression was markedly downregulated in the OSCC cell lines and tissues. Cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8), ethynyl deoxyuridine (EdU), and colony formation assays showed that miR-101 inhibited the proliferation of OSCC cells.     Abstract MafF is a member of the basic leucine zipper (bZIP) transcription factor Maf family and is commonly downregulated in multiple cancers. But the expression and function of MafF in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remain unclear. In this study, we investigated the relationship between endogenous MafF expression and HCC progression and explored the regulatory mechanism of MafF expression in HCC.
