Zhiyong Yang, Enjie Hu, Lei Xi, Zhi Chen*, Feng Xiong, Chuanhai Zhan

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.20, No.4, pp. 705-723, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.044030

Abstract An experimental investigation into the thermal conductivity of CF-SiC two-phase composite asphalt concrete is presented. The main objective of this study was to verify the possibility of using SiC powder instead of mineral powder as the thermal conductive filler to prepare a new type of asphalt concrete and improve the efficiency of electrothermal snow and ice melting systems accordingly. The thermal conductivity of asphalt concrete prepared with different thermally conductive fillers was tested by a transient plane source method, and the related performances were measured. Then the temperature rise rate and surface temperature were studied through field heating tests. Finally,… More >

Abstract Cardiotocography measures the fetal heart rate in the fetus during pregnancy to ensure physical health because cardiotocography gives data about fetal heart rate and uterine shrinkages which is very beneficial to detect whether the fetus is normal or suspect or pathologic. Various cardiotocography measures infer wrongly and give wrong predictions because of human error. The traditional way of reading the cardiotocography measures is the time taken and belongs to numerous human errors as well. Fetal condition is very important to measure at numerous stages and give proper medications to the fetus for its well-being. In the current period Machine learning… More >

Abstract Thyroid disorders represent a significant global health challenge with hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism as two common conditions arising from dysfunction in the thyroid gland. Accurate and timely diagnosis of these disorders is crucial for effective treatment and patient care. This research introduces a comprehensive approach to improve the accuracy of thyroid disorder diagnosis through the integration of ensemble stacking and advanced feature selection techniques. Sequential forward feature selection, sequential backward feature elimination, and bidirectional feature elimination are investigated in this study. In ensemble learning, random forest, adaptive boosting, and bagging classifiers are employed. The effectiveness of these techniques is evaluated using… More >

    Rabia Abid1, Muhammad Rizwan2, Abdulatif Alabdulatif3,*, Abdullah Alnajim4, Meznah Alamro5, Mourade Azrour6

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.78, No.3, pp. 3413-3429, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.046880

Abstract Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) has an advanced feature to enhance the decision-making feature and improve the rule-based technique by using more advanced Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) based algorithms. In this paper, we chose e-healthcare systems for efficient decision-making and data classification, especially in data security, data handling, diagnostics, laboratories, and decision-making. Federated Machine Learning (FML) is a new and advanced technology that helps to maintain privacy for Personal Health Records (PHR) and handle a large amount of medical data effectively. In this context, XAI, along with FML, increases efficiency and improves the security of e-healthcare systems. The… More >

Research on Carbon Emission for Preventive Maintenance of Wind Turbine Gearbox Based on Stochastic Differential Equation

Hongsheng Su, Lixia Dong*, Xiaoying Yu, Kai Liu

    Energy Engineering, Vol.121, No.4, pp. 973-986, 2024, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.043497

Abstract Time based maintenance (TBM) and condition based maintenance (CBM) are widely applied in many large wind farms to optimize the maintenance issues of wind turbine gearboxes, however, these maintenance strategies do not take into account environmental benefits during full life cycle such as carbon emissions issues. Hence, this article proposes a carbon emissions computing model for preventive maintenance activities of wind turbine gearboxes to solve the issue. Based on the change of the gearbox state during operation and the influence of external random factors on the gearbox state, a stochastic differential equation model (SDE) and corresponding carbon emission model are… More > Graphic Abstract

CHARACTERIZATION OF THE RHEOLOGY AND CURE KINETICS OF EPOXY RESIN WITH CARBON NANOTUBES

    R. J. Johnson, R. Pitchumani

    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.1, No.1, pp. 1-9, 2010, DOI:10.5098/hmt.v1.1.3007

Abstract Much research is currently being performed with carbon nanotube additives to neat resin systems to enhance properties such as thermal and electrical conductivity, strength, modulus and damping. Fabrication of parts based on carbon nanotube filled resin systems requires information on their cure kinetics and rheology, which has been relatively less studied so far. This work presents an extensive experimental study that systematically characterizes the cure kinetics and viscosity as a function of degree of cure and temperature of EPON 815C/EPICURE 3274 epoxy resin system laden with carbon nanotubes. Studies are conducted to determine the effects of the carbon nanotube loading… More >

    NAMO Géoweb

Une plateforme pour valoriser la narration et la modélisation de l’espace géographique et des territoires

    Jean-Pierre Chery1, Marie Gradeler1, Vincent Bonnal2,3,4

    Revue Internationale de Géomatique, Vol.31, No.2, pp. 355-376, 2022, DOI:10.3166/RIG.31.355-376© 2022

More >

    Congenital Heart Disease, Vol.19, No.1, pp. 123-129, 2024, DOI:10.32604/chd.2024.048145

Abstract Congenital ventricular aneurysm is a very rare cardiac anomaly. A diagnosis can be made during the prenatal period using fetal echocardiography. This study presents a very rare apically located left ventricular aneurysm case, and the relevant literature was reviewed and discussed. In this case, a 35-year-old, gravida 2, parity 1 pregnant woman at 24 weeks of gestation, displayed a wide aneurysmal image in the left ventricular apical wall on fetal echocardiography. There was a 1.79 mm muscular ventricular septal defect at the apical region of the interventricular septum. In the course of the color Doppler ultrasonography examination, an aberrant fibrous… More >

    Fu Guan1,*, Matthias Gass2, Florian Berger2, Heiko Schneider1, Firat Duru1,3, Thomas Wolber1,3,*

    Congenital Heart Disease, Vol.19, No.1, pp. 85-92, 2024, DOI:10.32604/chd.2024.047266

Abstract Aims: Although the application of ultrasound-guided vascular puncture and Z-stitch hemostasis to manage femoral access has been widely utilized, there is limited data on this combined application in adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) patients undergoing electrophysiological (EP) procedures. We sought to evaluate the safety and efficacy of ultrasound-guided puncture and postprocedural Z-stitch hemostasis for ACHD patients undergoing EP procedures. Methods and Results: The population of ACHD patients undergoing transfemoral EP procedures at the University of Zurich Heart Center between January 2019 and December 2022 was observed and analyzed. During the study period, femoral access (left/right, arterial/venous) was performed under real-time… More >
