    Tina Babu1, Deepa Gupta1, Tripty Singh1,*, Shahin Hameed2, Mohammed Zakariah3, Yousef Ajami Alotaibi4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.1, pp. 99-128, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.016341

Abstract Automated grading of colon biopsy images across all magnifications is challenging because of tailored segmentation and dependent features on each magnification. This work presents a novel approach of robust magnification-independent colon cancer grading framework to distinguish colon biopsy images into four classes: normal, well, moderate, and poor. The contribution of this research is to develop a magnification invariant hybrid feature set comprising cartoon feature, Gabor wavelet, wavelet moments, HSV histogram, color auto-correlogram, color moments, and morphological features that can be used to characterize different grades. Besides, the classifier is modeled as a multiclass structure with six binary class Bayesian optimized… More >

An Optimized SW/HW AVMF Design Based on High-Level Synthesis Flow for Color Images

    Turki M. Alanazi1, Ahmed Ben Atitallah1,2,*, Imen Abid2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.3, pp. 2925-2943, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.017575

Abstract In this paper, a software/hardware High-level Synthesis (HLS) design is proposed to compute the Adaptive Vector Median Filter (AVMF) in real-time. In fact, this filter is known by its excellent impulsive noise suppression and chromaticity conservation. The software (SW) study of this filter demonstrates that its implementation is too complex. The purpose of this work is to study the impact of using an HLS tool to design ideal floating-point and optimized fixed-point hardware (HW) architectures for the AVMF filter using square root function (ideal HW) and ROM memory (optimized HW), respectively, to select the best HLS architectures and to design… More >

    BIOCELL, Vol.45, No.4, pp. 943-951, 2021, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2021.015836

Abstract Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been increasingly applied in both preventing and treating a variety of cancers in the last decades, attributing to its fewer side effects as compared with chemotherapy drugs. Hellebrigenin, a component of Chanpi from the skin of Bufo bufogargarizans Cantor or Duttaphrynus melanostictus has been reported to have an obvious anti-cancer activity on various cancers. However, the effect and mechanism of hellebrigenin on colorectal cancers were still unknown. Herein, the present study demonstrated hellebrigenin significantly reduced viability and triggered apoptosis via the intrinsic pathway in colorectal cancer cell lines HCT116 and HT29 in vitro and in… More >

Accurate, High-Speed, Full-Color and Vibration-Resistant 3D Shape Measurement Using Linear LED Devices

    Motoharu Fujigaki1,*

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.23, No.1, pp. 26-26, 2021, DOI:10.32604/icces.2021.08385

Abstract Several types of accurate and high-speed 3D shape measurement using linear LED devices were developed by author's research group. The linear LED device is a key device to develop them. High-speed phase shift synchronized with camera triggers can be achieved by switching the lighting position of the linear LED. The control signals can be generated easily with a no special micro-computer. A compact projector unit can be produced. Author also proposed a calibration method, named a whole-space tabulation method (WSTM), for an accurate and high-speed shape measurement using multiple reference planes. A handy, fullcolor and real-time 3D shape measurement unit… More >

Abstract Taro (Colocasia esculenta (L.) Schott) is an important crop in Africa, Southeast Asia, and subtropics and is used as a food and medicine. The purple color pigmentation is an appealing character in taro. We sampled taro corms of the cultivar ‘Lipu Taro’ at four developmental stages, including LPYS1 (without purple pigment, 50 days of development (DOD)), LPYS2 (very few purple pigments, 75 DOD), LPYS3 (moderate purple pigments, 115 DOD) and LPYS4 (high purple pigments, 205 DOD). The purpose of our study was to identify the key genes underpinning the purple pigmentation in taro based on RNA-sequencing. Through RNA-Seq, 6453 differentially… More >

    Paul Chege1,2, Erzsébet Kiss2, Csaba Lantos1, Andrea Palágyi1, János Pauk1,2,*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.90, No.2, pp. 475-487, 2021, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2021.013557

Abstract Sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench] can benefit from accelerated breeding and release of improved varieties through doubled haploid technology. The technology has been used in speeding up the breeding of other major cereals such as wheat, maize and rice, for which generally widely applied optimised protocols exist. A reproducible protocol for the crop, that can overcome genotype dependency and other species-specific challenges such as phenolic exudation is however lacking. This study aimed at sorghum doubled haploids production thereby contributing to the development of an improved protocol. From the 28 hybrid genotypes, both F1 registered- and experimental hybrids involved, this study… More >

Non-Associative Algebra Redesigning Block Cipher with Color Image Encryption

    Nazli Sanam1,*, Asif Ali1, Tariq Shah1, Ghazanfar Farooq2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.1, pp. 1-21, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014442

Abstract The substitution box (S-box) is a fundamentally important component of symmetric key cryptosystem. An S-box is a primary source of non-linearity in modern block ciphers, and it resists the linear attack. Various approaches have been adopted to construct S-boxes. S-boxes are commonly constructed over commutative and associative algebraic structures including Galois fields, unitary commutative rings and cyclic and non-cyclic finite groups. In this paper, first a non-associative ring of order 512 is obtained by using computational techniques, and then by this ring a triplet of 8 × 8 S-boxes is designed. The motivation behind the designing of these S-boxes is… More >
