An Adjust Duty Cycle Method for Optimized Congestion Avoidance and Reducing Delay for WSNs

    Ting Xu1, Ming Zhao1, Xin Yao1, *, Kun He2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.65, No.2, pp. 1605-1624, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.011458 - 20 August 2020

Abstract With the expansion of the application range and network scale of wireless sensor networks in recent years, WSNs often generate data surges and delay queues during the transmission process, causing network paralysis, even resulting in local or global congestion. In this paper, a dynamically Adjusted Duty Cycle for Optimized Congestion based on a real-time Queue Length (ADCOC) scheme is proposed. In order to improve the resource utilization rate of network nodes, we carried out optimization analysis based on the theory and applied it to the adjustment of the node’s duty cycle strategy. Using this strategy… More >

TCPW BR: A Wireless Congestion Control Scheme Base on RTT

    Liwei Tian1, 2, *, Jinfeng Li3, Longqing Zhang2, Yu Sun4, Lei Yang2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.62, No.1, pp. 233-244, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.06135

Abstract The wireless network is limited by the transmission medium, and the transmission process is subject to large interference and jitter. This jitter can cause sporadic loss and is mistaken for congestion by the congestion control mechanism. The TCP Westwood protocol (referred to as TCPW) is such that it cannot distinguish between congestion loss and wireless jitter loss, which makes the congestion mechanism too sensitive and reduces bandwidth utilization. Based on this, the TCPW protocol is modified based on the estimate of the Round-Trip Time (referred to as RTT) value-called TCPW BR. The algorithm uses the More >

    Khaled Belhassine1,3, Jacques Renaud1,2,3, Leandro Coelho1,2,3,4, Jean-Philippe Gagliardi5

    Revue Internationale de Géomatique, Vol.29, No.2, pp. 207-230, 2019, DOI:10.3166/rig.2019.00090

Origin-Destination Estimation for Traffic Simulation Considering Congestion

Kazuki Abe*, Hideki Fujii, Shinobu Yoshimura

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.21, No.3, pp. 62-62, 2019, DOI:10.32604/icces.2019.05393

Abstract Traffic simulations are utilized as support tools to solve traffic-related problems. Scenario analysis is one of the analysis methodologies with simulation. At the first step of scenario analysis, traffic phenomena in the real world should be reproduced in the simulation world as the baseline. Traffic demand, which can be described as a form of the Origin-Destination (OD) matrix, is an important element in the traffic phenomena, which affects directly to the traffic volume or congestion, but it cannot be observed directly. Whereas some OD estimation methods are proposed, most of them require different route-search models… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.59, No.3, pp. 965-982, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.05635

Abstract With the rapid development of the Internet, people pay more and more attention to the protection of privacy. The second-generation onion routing system Tor is the most commonly used among anonymous communication systems, which can be used to protect user privacy effectively. In recent years, Tor’s congestion problem has become the focus of attention, and it can affect Tor’s performance even user experience. Firstly, we investigate the causes of Tor network congestion and summarize some link scheduling algorithms proposed in recent years. Then we propose the link scheduling algorithm SWRR based on WRR (Weighted Round More >

Renal dysfunction is associated with higher central venous pressures in patients with Fontan circulation

    Christopher R. Broda1, Hamsini Sriraman2, Devanshi Wadhwa2, YunFei Wang1, Hari Tunuguntla1, Ayse Akcan-Arikan3,4, Peter R. Ermis1, Jack F. Price1

    Congenital Heart Disease, Vol.13, No.4, pp. 602-607, 2018, DOI:10.1111/chd.12617

Abstract Purpose: Elevated central venous pressure (CVP) has deleterious effects on several organ systems in patients with Fontan circulation. However, the relationship between CVP and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) has not been assessed in patients with Fontan circulation.
Methods: Patients with Fontan circulation whose hemodynamics were assessed by catheterization between 1987 and 2015 and had a serum creatinine measured within 72 hours prior to the procedure were included for analysis. Patients with primary kidney disease were excluded. Renal function was calculated by “bedside Schwartz” equation in children (< 18 years) and Modification of Diet in Renal Disease… More >

Serial cardiac MRIs in adult Fontan patients detect progressive hepatic enlargement and congestion

    Matthew J. Lewis1, Elizabeth Hecht2, Jonathan Ginns1, Joshua Benton2, Martin Prince2, Marlon S. Rosenbaum1

    Congenital Heart Disease, Vol.12, No.2, pp. 153-158, 2017, DOI:10.1111/chd.12422

Abstract Background: The progression of hepatic disease in adult Fontan patients is not well understood. They reviewed the experience with serial cardiac MRIs (CMR) in adult Fontan patients to determine if hepatic anatomic markers of prolonged Fontan exposure were present and if clinical predictors of progressive hepatic congestion could be identified.
Methods and Results: A retrospective cohort study of all adult Fontan patients who had undergone at least two CMRs was performed. Hepatic dimensions, inferior vena cava (IVC) size, right hepatic vein (RHV) size and spleen diameter were determined from images acquired at the time of clinically guided… More >

Gross hematuria caused by nutcracker syndrome and segmental pseudoaneursym

Timothy H. Atkinson, Matthew Love, Jamie Messer

    Canadian Journal of Urology, Vol.22, No.2, pp. 7745-7747, 2015

Abstract Nutcracker syndrome is a rare disorder characterized by extrinsic compression of left renal vein by the superior mesenteric artery and aorta. Prevalence of the disease is unknown, but presents most commonly with gross hematuria and fank pain. Diagnosis requires a high index of suspicion and treatment consists of a wide range of vascular surgical options with a more recent focus using an endovascular approach. We present a case of a 29-year-old female with continuous gross hematuria and fank pain from a segmental artery pseudoaneursym secondary to nutcracker and pelvic congestion syndrome. More >

    Andrew G. Winer1, Nicholas H. Chakiryan1, Ryan P. Mooney1, Daniel Verges1, Mazyar Ghanaat1, Atabak Allaeei2, Luke Robinson2, Harry Zinn2, Erich K. Lang1,2,3

    Canadian Journal of Urology, Vol.21, No.4, pp. 7365-7368, 2014

Abstract Introduction: Pelvic congestion syndrome (PCS) is a complex condition of the pelvic venous system leading to nonspecific pelvic pain that was initially described in females alone. The underlying abnormalities, though diverse, all result in increased pressure in the left gonadal vein which is transmitted retrograde into the pelvic venous system. Our primary aim was to describe our findings of secondary PCS as a distinct entity from primary PCS in that it has an identifiable vascular etiology and is gender nonspecific. We also aimed to assess the adequacy of late-arterial phase CT urography (CTU) as the initial… More >

Abstract Urban traffic is a key factor for the development of a city. There exist many different approaches facing traffic optimization. In our case we have focused on traffic lights optimization. We have designed and tested a new architecture to optimize traffic light cycle times. The purpose of this research is to demonstrate the good performance of our architecture in a congested scenario. We have simulated several congestion situations for a very large real world traffic network - "La Almozara" in Zaragoza, Spain. Our results seem encouraging in this extreme situation. As we increase the load More >
