    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.3, pp. 2589-2601, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.024001

Abstract In this study, we proposed a new model to improve the accuracy of forecasting the stock market volatility pattern. The hypothesized model was validated empirically using a data set collected from the Saudi Arabia stock Exchange (Tadawul). The data is the daily closed price index data from August 2011 to December 2019 with 2027 observations. The proposed forecasting model combines the best maximum overlapping discrete wavelet transform (MODWT) function (Bl14) and exponential generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedasticity (EGARCH) model. The results show the model's ability to analyze stock market data, highlight important events that contain the most volatile data, and improve… More >

    Oncology Research, Vol.27, No.5, pp. 525-532, 2019, DOI:10.3727/096504018X15179668157803

Abstract Hypoxia-induced chemoresistance is a major obstacle in the development of effective cancer therapy. In our study, the reversal abilities of NADPH oxidase 4 (NOX4) silence on hypoxia resistance and the potential mechanism were investigated. Our data showed that the expression of NOX4 was upregulated in human neuroblastoma cells SH-SY5Y under hypoxia condition time dependently. Knockdown of NOX4 expression by siRNA inhibited glycolysis induced by hypoxia through decreasing the expression of glycolysis-related proteins (HIF-1 , LDHA, and PDK1), decreasing glucose uptake, lactate production, and ROS production, while increasing mitochondria membrane potential. Moreover, NOX4 silence inhibited cell growth under hypoxia condition through… More >

Jing Li*†, Lian-mei Zhao, Cong Zhang, Meng Li§, Bo Gao, Xu-hua Hu, Jian Cao, Gui-ying Wang

    Oncology Research, Vol.28, No.1, pp. 51-63, 2020, DOI:10.3727/096504019X15619783964700

Abstract Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) participate in and regulate the biological process of colorectal cancer (CRC) progression. Our previous research identified differentially expressed lncRNAs in 10 CRC tissues and 10 matched nontumor tissues by next-generation sequencing (NGS). In this study, we identified an lncRNA, FEZF1 antisense RNA 1 (FEZF1-AS1), and further explored its function and mechanism in CRC. We verified that FEZF1-AS1 is highly expressed in CRC tissues and cell lines. Through functional experiments, we found that reduced levels of FEZF1-AS1 significantly suppressed CRC cell migration, invasion, and proliferation and inhibited tumor growth in vivo. Mechanistically, we discovered that reduced levels… More >

Optimal and Energy Effective Power Allocation Using Multi-Scale Resource GOA-DC-EM in DAS

    J. Rajalakshmi*, S. Siva Ranjani

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.34, No.2, pp. 1049-1063, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.025127

Abstract Recently many algorithms for allocation of power approaches have been suggested to increase the Energy Efficiency (EE) and Spectral Efficiency (EE) in the Distributed Antenna System (DAS). In addition, the method of conservation developed for the allocation of power is challenging for the enhancement because of their high complication during estimation. With the intention of increasing the EE and SE, the optimization of allocation of power is done on the basis of capacity of the antenna. The main goal is for the optimization of the power allocation to improve the spectral and energy efficiency with the increased capacity of the… More >

Abstract Pecan [Carya illinoinensis (Wangenh.) K. Koch.] is a deciduous tree whose fruits (nuts) are of high economic value and offer excellent nutritional benefits. However, soils high in sulphates can limit its growth and development. Working with 5-year-old trees of ‘Western Schley’ pecan grown in soils high in sulphates, the levels of proline and oxidative metabolism were recorded in the leaflets. Results showed that different levels of visible leaflet damage (‘sufficiency’, ‘low’, ‘moderate’ or ‘severe’) were associated with different levels of leaflet sulphates (mg kg−1): ‘sufficiency’ (≤40), ‘low’ (41–60), ‘moderate’ (61–80) and ‘severe’ (80–100). ‘Severe’ sulphate damage was associated with significant… More >

Identification of a Unique Germacrene A Oxidase from Xanthium strumarium

    Lifen Zheng1, Fangfang Chen2, Yuanjun Li3, Changfu Li1,*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.91, No.5, pp. 989-998, 2022, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2022.019219

Abstract 8,12-sesquiterpene lactones (STLs) are an important class of natural products with unique pharmaceutical activities. For years the pathway leading to 8,12-STLs remains an enigma. Xanthium strumarium accumulates abundant 8,12-STLs, and xanthatin is a characteristic 8,12-STL in it. Xanthatin has been previously postulated to be derived from germacrene A, but the steps from germacrene A to xanthatin are unknown. As part of an effort to understand the xanthatin biosynthetic pathway. This study reports the characterization of a unique germacrene A oxidase (XsGAO) from X. strumarium. Unlike a classical GAO enzyme, which is known to catalyze a three-step oxidation of germarene A… More >

Abstract HTTP Adaptive Streaming (HAS) of video content is becoming an undivided part of the Internet and accounts for most of today's network traffic. Video compression technology plays a vital role in efficiently utilizing network channels, but encoding videos into multiple representations with selected encoding parameters is a significant challenge. However, video encoding is a computationally intensive and time-consuming operation that requires high-performance resources provided by on-premise infrastructures or public clouds. In turn, the public clouds, such as Amazon elastic compute cloud (EC2), provide hundreds of computing instances optimized for different purposes and clients’ budgets. Thus, there is a need for… More >

    D. Ajay1, J. Aldring1, G. Rajchakit2, P. Hammachukiattikul3, N. Boonsatit4,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.130, No.2, pp. 1033-1076, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.018267

Abstract In this paper, sine trigonometry operational laws (ST-OLs) have been extended to neutrosophic sets (NSs) and the operations and functionality of these laws are studied. Then, extending these ST-OLs to complex neutrosophic sets (CNSs) forms the core of this work. Some of the mathematical properties are proved based on ST-OLs. Fundamental operations and the distance measures between complex neutrosophic numbers (CNNs) based on the ST-OLs are discussed with numerical illustrations. Further the arithmetic and geometric aggregation operators are established and their properties are verified with numerical data. The general properties of the developed sine trigonometry weighted averaging/geometric aggregation operators for… More >

Nitric oxide and hydrogen sulfide share regulatory functions in higher plant events

    FRANCISCO J. CORPAS*, SALVADOR GONZÁLEZ-GORDO, MARTA RODRÍGUEZ-RUIZ, MARÍA A. MUÑOZ-VARGAS, JOSÉ M. PALMA

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.1, pp. 1-5, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2021.017300

Abstract Nitric oxide (NO) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) are two molecules that share signaling properties in plant and animal cells. NO and H2S originate two families of derived molecules designated reactive nitrogen and sulfur species (RNS and RSS, respectively). These molecules are responsible for certain protein regulatory processes through posttranslational modifications (PTMs), being the most remarkable S-nitrosation and persulfidation, which affect the thiol group of cysteine residues. NO and H2S can also exert regulatory functions due to their interaction through the iron present in proteins that contain heme groups or iron-sulfur clusters, as reported mainly in animal cells. However, the available… More >

    Hailing Li1,2, Lingfeng Xu1, Zhuowei Li1, Shunxin Zhao1, Dongqin Guo1, Lu Rui1,*, Nong Zhou1,*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.90, No.5, pp. 1535-1547, 2021, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2021.015697

Abstract Paris polyphylla var. yunnanensis is a traditional Chinese medicinal plant, in which polyphyllin as the main medicinal component is an important secondary metabolite with bioactivity. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) have multiple positive effects on plants, while it is not clear whether AMF increase the content of medicinal components in medicinal plants. In this study, a total of nine AMF treatments were laid to analyze the mycorrhizal effect on polyphyllin accumulation and PpHMGR and PpSE expression of P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis. AMF increased the content of polyphyllin in the cultivated variety with low relation to the increase of inoculation intensity. Polyphyllin… More >
