A GDPR Compliant Approach to Assign Risk Levels to Privacy Policies

    Abdullah R. Alshamsan1, Shafique A. Chaudhry1,2,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.3, pp. 4631-4647, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.034039

Abstract Data privacy laws require service providers to inform their customers on how user data is gathered, used, protected, and shared. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a legal framework that provides guidelines for collecting and processing personal information from individuals. Service providers use privacy policies to outline the ways an organization captures, retains, analyzes, and shares customers’ data with other parties. These policies are complex and written using legal jargon; therefore, users rarely read them before accepting them. There exist a number of approaches to automating the task of summarizing privacy policies and assigning risk levels. Most of the… More >

Huicheng Xu, Hao Xie, Weidong Shan, Weihong Wang*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.3, pp. 1123-1135, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.023959

Abstract Straw utilization is a key issue related to agricultural production and air pollution control. In this study, a novel extrusion process was proposed to improve the physical and mechanical properties of the straw-reinforced linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) composite. Instead of crushing the straw and mixing it with plastic matrix, the new method mixes straw with plastic matrix in its original form. The intact long rice straws were parallelly spread on the LLDPE film and then rolled up together into a prefabricated roll. The rolls experienced three extrusion processes as follows: (1) twin-screw melting, cooling and crushing, single-screw extruding; (2) twin-screw… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.1, pp. 1215-1226, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.028764

Abstract Controlled thermonuclear reactors require consistent monitoring of plasma in the toroidal chamber. Better working conditions of such machines can be monitored by analyzing its radiations. Various wavelengths such as 656.3, 486.1, 464.7 nm are quite significant which are used for health monitoring of thermonuclear machines. The optical thin film filters which work on constructive and destructive interference are the ideal choices. These filters are multilayered with a pair of high and low refractive index dielectric materials. Significantly high transmission index at the desired wavelength and relatively low transmission at the other wavelengths are desired. With this as the objective, it… More >

Abstract Minimizing the energy consumption to increase the life span and performance of multiprocessor system on chip (MPSoC) has become an integral chip design issue for multiprocessor systems. The performance measurement of computational systems is changing with the advancement in technology. Due to shrinking and smaller chip size power densities on-chip are increasing rapidly that increasing chip temperature in multi-core embedded technologies. The operating speed of the device decreases when power consumption reaches a threshold that causes a delay in complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) circuits because high on-chip temperature adversely affects the life span of the chip. Coupled CUBIC Congestion Control for MPTCP in Broadband Networks

Jae Yong Lee1, Byung Chul Kim1, Youngmi Kwon1,*, Kimoon Han2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.1, pp. 99-115, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.030801

Abstract Recently, multipath transmission control protocol (MPTCP) was standardized so that data can be transmitted through multiple paths to utilize all available path bandwidths. However, when high-speed long-distance networks are included in MPTCP paths, the traffic transmission performance of MPTCP is severely deteriorated, especially in case the multiple paths’ characteristics are heavily asymmetric. In order to alleviate this problem, we propose a “Coupled CUBIC congestion control” that adopts TCP CUBIC on a large bandwidth-delay product (BDP) path in a linked increase manner for maintaining fairness with an ordinary TCP traversing the same bottleneck path. To verify the performance excellence of the… More >
