An Efficient Solution Strategy for Phase Field Model of Dynamic Fracture Problems Based on Domain Decomposition

    Shourong Hao1, Yongxing Shen1,*

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.25, No.4, pp. 1-1, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09336

Abstract Dynamic fracture is an important class of damage widely present in engineering materials and structures, e.g., high-speed impact and explosion. In recent years, the phase field approach to fracture proposed by Bourdin et al. [1] becomes popular for complicated fracture problems for its ability to simulate crack nucleation, propagation, branching, and merging without extra criteria, and the crack path does not need to be tracked, which makes the implementation straightforward and the calculation efficient. However, one of the major issues of the phase field method is the high computational cost due to the need of a very fine mesh, which… More >

Abstract Background: The increasing occurrence of diabetes mellitus (DM) noted worldwide has considerably elicited concern in the recent past. DM is associated with elevated vascular complications, morbidity, mortality, and poor quality of life. In this context, mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have shown significant therapeutic potentialities in managing and curing type 1 DM owing to their self-renewable, immunosuppressive, and differentiation capacities. We investigated the potential action of N, N′-diphenyl-1,4-phenylenediamine (DPPD), a well-known synthetic antioxidant to enhance the therapeutic ability of the adipose-derived stem cells (AD-MSCs) in alleviating kidney and liver complications in diabetic rats. Methods: Over the four weeks of experiments, albino… More > Graphic Abstract

    Bin Li*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.10, pp. 2729-2748, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.029649

Abstract In order to overcome the deficiencies of current methods for the prediction of the productivity of shale gas horizontal wells after fracturing, a new sophisticated approach is proposed in this study. This new model stems from the combination several techniques, namely, artificial neural network (ANN), particle swarm optimization (PSO), Imperialist Competitive Algorithms (ICA), and Ant Clony Optimization (ACO). These are properly implemented by using the geological and engineering parameters collected from 317 wells. The results show that the optimum PSO-ANN model has a high accuracy, obtaining a R2 of 0.847 on the testing. The partial dependence plots (PDP) indicate that… More >

Abstract Cyclophilin (CYP) plays an important role in plant response to stress, and OsCYP2, one gene of cyclophlilin family, is involved in auxin signal transduction and stress signaling in rice. However, the mechanism that OsCYP2 is involved in rice response to low temperature is still unclear. We identified a new OsCYP2 allelic mutant, lrl3, with fewer lateral roots, and the differences in shoot height, primary root length and adventitious root length increased with the growth process compared to the wild-type plant. Auxin signaling pathway was also affected and became insensitive to gravity. The transgenic rice plants with over-expression of OsCYP2 were… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.2, pp. 4231-4253, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.034287

Abstract Recently, with the normalization of non-face-to-face online environments in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the possibility of cyberattacks through endpoints has increased. Numerous endpoint devices are managed meticulously to prevent cyberattacks and ensure timely responses to potential security threats. In particular, because telecommuting, telemedicine, and tele-education are implemented in uncontrolled environments, attackers typically target vulnerable endpoints to acquire administrator rights or steal authentication information, and reports of endpoint attacks have been increasing considerably. Advanced persistent threats (APTs) using various novel variant malicious codes are a form of a sophisticated attack. However, conventional commercial antivirus and anti-malware systems that use signature-based… More >

Abstract The demonstration of a higher data rate transmission system was a major aspect to be considered by researchers in recent years. The most relevant aspect to be studied and analyzed is the need for a reliable system to handle nonlinear impairments and reduce them. Therefore, this paper examines the influence of Four-Wave Mixing (FWM) impairment on the proposed high data rate Dual polarization–Differential Quadrature phase shift keying (DP-DQPSK) system using the Optisystem software. In the beginning, the impact of varied input power on the proposed system’s performance was evaluated in terms of QF and BER metrics. More power is used… More >

Abstract In this study, the potential of a low-cost bio-adsorbent, taken directly from Date Palm Trunk Fibers (DPTF) agricultural wastes, for cadmium ions removal from wastewaters is examined. The performances of this adsorbent are evaluated by building breakthrough curves at different bed heights and flow rates while keeping other parameters, such as the initial feed concentration, pH, and particle size, constant. The results indicate that the maximum cadmium adsorption capacity of DTPF can be obtained from the Thomas model as 51.5 mg/g with the most extended mass transfer zone of 83 min at the lowest flow rate at 5 ml/min. Implementation of High-Q Embedded Band Pass Filter in Wireless Communication

    V. Satheesh Kumar1,*, S. Ramesh2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.2, pp. 2191-2200, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.021188

Abstract At 12.8 MHz center frequency, the advanced miniaturized polymer-based planar high quality factor (Q) passive elements embedded bandpass filter works in the L-band. Because most of the demands operate inside the spectrum, the wideband or high-speed operation necessary to enhance must be acquired in microwave frequency ranges. The channel has a quiet, high-performance microfilter with wideband rejection. Capacitors and inductors are used in the high quality factor (Q) passive components, and related networks are incorporated in the filter. Embedded layers are concatenated using Three-Dimensional Integrated Circuit (3D-IC) integration, parasitics are removed, and interconnection losses are negotiated using de-embedding methods.
