    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.12, No.1, pp. 187-201, 2024, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2023.044232

Abstract The reuse of waste recycled concrete from harsh environments has become a research hotspot in the field of construction. This study investigated the repair effect of carbonation treatment on second-generation recycled fine aggregate (SRFA) obtained from recycled fine aggregate concrete (RFAC) subjected to freeze-thaw (FT) cycles. Before and after carbonation, the properties of SRFA were evaluated. Carbonated second-generation recycled fine aggregate (CSRFA) at five substitution rates (0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) to replace SRFA was used to prepare carbonated second-generation recycled fine aggregate concrete (CSRFAC). The water absorption, porosity and mechanical properties of CSRFAC were tested, and its frost-resisting durability… More >

    Mani Parimala1, Karthikeyan Prakash1, Ashraf Al-Quran2,*, Muhammad Riaz3, Saeid Jafari4

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.139, No.1, pp. 1095-1118, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.031193

Abstract The idea of linear Diophantine fuzzy set (LDFS) theory with its control parameters is a strong model for machine learning and optimization under uncertainty. The activity times in the critical path method (CPM) representation procedures approach are initially static, but in the Project Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT) approach, they are probabilistic. This study proposes a novel way of project review and assessment methodology for a project network in a linear Diophantine fuzzy (LDF) environment. The LDF expected task time, LDF variance, LDF critical path, and LDF total expected time for determining the project network are all computed using LDF… More > Graphic Abstract

Abstract Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) plays an essential role in cellular metabolism, mitochondrial homeostasis, inflammation, and senescence. However, the role of NAD+-regulated genes, including coding and long non-coding genes in cancer development is poorly understood. We constructed a prediction model based on the expression level of NAD+ metabolism-related genes (NMRGs). Furthermore, we validated the expression of NMRGs in gastric cancer (GC) tissues and cell lines; additionally, β-nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN), a precursor of NAD+, was used to treat the GC cell lines to analyze its effects on the expression level of NMRGs lncRNAs and cellular proliferation, cell cycle, apoptosis, and senescence-associated secretory… More > Graphic Abstract

Abstract The impact of different iron metabolism processes (DIMP) on ovarian cancer remains unclear. In this study, we employed various gene chips and databases to investigate the role of DIMP in the initiation and development of ovarian cancer. cBioPortal was used to determine mutations in DIMP-associated genes in ovarian cancer. Kaplan-Meier plotter was used to examine the influence of DIMP on the prognosis of ovarian cancer. By analyzing 1669 serous ovarian cancer cases, we identified a range of mutations in iron metabolism genes, notably in those coding for the transferrin receptor (19%), melanotransferrin (19%), and ceruloplasmin (10%) in the iron import… More >

    HONGYUAN LIANG1,#, YANQIU LI2,#, YONGGANG QU3, LINGYUN ZHANG4,*

    Oncology Research, Vol.32, No.2, pp. 393-407, 2024, DOI:10.32604/or.2023.031134

Abstract Advanced LUAD shows limited response to treatment including immune therapy. With the development of sequencing omics, it is urgent to combine high-throughput multi-omics data to identify new immune checkpoint therapeutic response markers. Using GSE72094 (n = 386) and GSE31210 (n = 226) gene expression profile data in the GEO database, we identified genes associated with lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) death using tools such as “edgeR” and “maftools” and visualized the characteristics of these genes using the “circlize” R package. We constructed a prognostic model based on death-related genes and optimized the model using LASSO-Cox regression methods. By calculating the cell death… More >

Abstract Automated object detection has received the most attention over the years. Use cases ranging from autonomous driving applications to military surveillance systems, require robust detection of objects in different illumination conditions. State-of-the-art object detectors tend to fare well in object detection during daytime conditions. However, their performance is severely hampered in night light conditions due to poor illumination. To address this challenge, the manuscript proposes an improved YOLOv5-based object detection framework for effective detection in unevenly illuminated nighttime conditions. Firstly, the preprocessing strategies involve using the Zero-DCE++ approach to enhance lowlight images. It is followed by optimizing the existing YOLOv5… More >

Abstract Object tracking, an important technology in the field of image processing and computer vision, is used to continuously track a specific object or person in an image. This technology may be effective in identifying the same person within one image, but it has limitations in handling multiple images owing to the difficulty in identifying whether the object appearing in other images is the same. When tracking the same object using two or more images, there must be a way to determine that objects existing in different images are the same object. Therefore, this paper attempts to determine the same object… More >
